According to quantum mechanics, the vacuum state is not truly empty but instead contains fleeting electromagnetic waves and particles that pop into and out of existence. As you follow this thread you will find that in my hypothesized functionalities of the Ismer, this same observation is suggested. According to present-day understanding, all tests considered, there is still a broad field of research to reach conclusive substantiation for all the hypotheses under investigation. There is no means of detecting a stationary field because there is no moving flux relative to the sensing instrumentation. As stated earlier though, the radiant energy from all sources in the universe being mixed as a function of wave interference is still there wheather we can measure it or not. As I have reviewed the work of others in connection with my speculative inquiry as to how all the light energy and radiant energy including blackbody radiation from all sources could traverse the universal dimension with no apparent loss of coherency, I was amazed at what I considered to be the miraculous principles involved with the propagation of light energy. At this point please allow me the priviledge of injecting my personal philosophical view as to what it’s really all about. “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. In recent astronomy and cosmology research, measurements of cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies, most recently by the WMAP spacecraft indicate that the universe is very close to flat. For the shape of the universe to be flat, the mass/energy density of the universe must be equal to a certain critical density. The total amount of matter in the universe (including ordinary matter, baryons and dark matter), as measured by the CMB, accounts for only about 26% of the critical density. This implies the existence of an additional form of energy to account for the remaining 74%. The most recent WMAP observations are consistent with a universe made up of 4% ordinary matter, 22% dark matter, and 74% dark energy. The existence of dark energy, in whatever form, is needed to reconcile the measured geometry of space with the total amount of matter in the universe. As postulated during recent research, dark energy tends to increase the rate of expansion of the universe, but this is not a substantiated hypothesis, only a mathematical conjecture with many ifs in the various models being considered. As defined, the postulated Ismer is suggested as a hypothetical form of energy that permeates all of space does which does not violate any of the supposed properties of dark energy. It is therefore further suggested, the herein postulated Ismer may account for the remaining 74% of the dark energy necessary to reconcile the total mass-energy geometry of the universe.

Therefore as herein defined, the earth is not “moving through” the Ismer, the Ismer is being “dragged” with the motion of the earth. Without accurate “aether” analysis, any previously proposed “aether-dragging” theories could not be definitively investigated. In light of the now proven principles of EM radiation, which as suggested determine the composition and functional properties of the Ismer, these dynamics actually agree with the MMX findings, because the speed of light in that experiment would only have been relative to that portion of the Ismer where the experiment was performed, which as defined was in motion with the measurement instrumentation. So in answer to your query yes, all these effects will vary with the strength of the EM field of the Ismer because all hypotheses considered, this analogy reveals that the Ismer is not “infinitely elastic,” is not “at rest,” and does not have a “static energy level” throughout the universe.

I’m sure there are many ways this descriptive terminology could be stated, and I may have omitted or added terms unnecessarily, but it is this base concept that I have attempted to depict in my suggestion on the composition of the aether (Ismer). There are so many references as to what an aether was hypothesized to be and what its properties were assumed to be, that it would take a whole paper to assemble them all. Then came the earth shaking successes of the new special theory of relativity, which generated the same mathematics without referring to an aether at all! I thought a theory was only as defined in Webster’s dictionary: a set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena; abstract reasoning, speculation. From that deductive reasoning develops postulates followed by factors to pursue a course of investigation for the purpose of proving or disproving the base notion. The statement of the theory itself did not contain a mathematical model. Three examples: Lorentz aether theory. Between 1892 and 1904, Hendrik Lorentz created an electron/aether theory, in which he introduced a strict separation between matter (electrons) and aether. In chemistry and physics, atomic theory is a theory of the nature of matter, which states that matter is composed of discrete units called atoms, as opposed to the obsolete notion that matter could be divided into any arbitrarily small quantity. Kinetic theory (or the kinetic or kinetic-molecular theory of gases) is the theory that gases are made up of a large number of small particles (atoms or molecules), all of which are in constant, random motion. From those theories, mathematical models of the concepts involved were applied to prove or disprove the base premise. This is all I thought the theory was, which allows for a broad based participation by many of varying degrees of expertise in the scientific community. As stated, my theory on the composition and functionality of the luminiferous aether is in this form but I had not been very careful in the manner in which my logical thoughts were stated. So I will attempt to state my theory in a more scientific manner. It’s like using the formula for water when looking for oil when you should be using the formula for oil. Why can’t a hypothesis incorporate mathematical models of already proven observations to apply the principles of those observations in a new theory of predicted expectancy? The already substantiated principles of wave interference and coherence which have been mathematically verified are at the core of the predicted expectancy in my theory of what the ether (which I have renamed as an “Ismer” to more accurately define it) is composed of. Why should I have to write those mathematical models all over again? If that’s what you need I could do that, but why can’t we proceed on the basis that my theory is proposed to rationalize, explain and predict physical phenomena as relevant for a particular purpose, which is to provide a simpler, more powerful, and less problematic explanation of some observable behaviors which are not yet fully answered with substantiated discovery?

How can I be more clear? I hope what I’m saying in this post is not too much, future posts can be more succinct but I think we’re missing the point. I respect and am in no way dismissing your feedbacks, but so far we’re not considering the magnitude of what is being suggested by my new theory. As defined, there is not one single substantiated test of Einstein’s theories or of any other test that is being disallowed. All of what was said in Einstein’s Layden Address and what was included in Maxwell’s paper On Physical Lines of Force which have been substantiated, are in no way contended with. This theory on the ether only goes further to answer any remaining questions. As I said, this is a new theory on the actual composition (what it’s made of) and functionality (how it interacts with light (EM) energy and all atomic components in all atomic structures, for the propagation and velocity of all EM energy from every source, for the redshift of light from distant galaxies and what is still assumed to be a “gravitational” redshift, for the creation of new matter and the sustenance of all matter in the universe, and for the mechanics of gravitational “force” and observations of relativity) of the elusive ether, as once proposed but later dismissed and all but abandoned with the earth shaking successes of Einstein’s Theories of Special and General Relativity. That is in no way meant to lessen the extreme value and substantiality of those theories. In fact a great part of the development for my theory is based upon those theories. All proven models in the entire arena of the exploratory investigation of physics are intrinsic to any validity this theory may have. The key words in his observation are “predicts” and “do not require” because many of those predictions are not yet totally substantiated and there are still a lot of unanswered questions concerning all the behaviors I have referred to. This concept has never been investigated before and may seem a radical proposal because of so much that has been discovered with no need for an ether for the propagation of EM energy. I only want to proceed cautiously because I want to hear from each of you and respectfully respond by accepting anything you have to offer that may help me be more accurate and clear. Please know that nothing I say will be with disrespect for anything you say. I’ve never tried this before and I still have a lot to learn. Redundant to what?

With the dismissal of the “luminiferous aether” as a result of the famous MMX and then with the resounding success of Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity, both of which are held to discredit the need of or even the existence of such a substance for the propagation of light, any further scientific investigatory research to discover if such a substance exists has been all but abandoned. At the time of the introduction of the ether theory, and even by the time of Einstein’s special and general theories of relativity, many of the later proven principles of EM radiation were not known. Based upon an in-depth analysis using all proven data of now known properties of radiated EM energy, I propose the composition and functionality of the elusive ether can now be defined consistent with all experiments testing the phenomena of special relativity, general relativity, and relativistic quantum mechanics.

The speed of light is determined by the propagation impedence of the medium it traverses. Now we just have to know the composition and functionality of the medium that facilitates the propagation of EM energy. There really is a medium. I think I know what is is. It's the ether. And I think I know it's composition and functionality. And as defined it is consistent with all experiments testing the phenomena of special relativity, general relativity, and relativistic quantum mechanics.
