Sorry, I'm confused by what you are trying to convey. You said to which I replied You then said Which sounds like you are saying it is not really a crime if there is no intent, so I asked To which you responded But when I asked for an example of how you can have "bribery without intent" you said you cannot come up with an example. So how can Trump be justified in committing the crime of bribery without intent, if intent is not required for bribery to take place? I have no idea what you are talking about. Can you please provide a reference to support that assertion?
-
What is its replacement?
-
I looked up "abuse of power" on Wikipedia and saw no reference to "intent" as a requirement. Can you provide some reference?
-
Can you give me an example of how someone might commit bribery but not have intent? Well, that is a matter of interpretation, but regardless, that is the system we have in place.
-
It is. But we all knew that so I'm unsure of the point you are trying to make. Again that is irrelevant (although the evidence points to the answer being "yes"). What crime are you suggesting required intent where Trump didn't have intent. Well, committing a crime is generally considered grounds for impeachment.
-
But he can't do it in an illegal manner! Which is of course not an excuse to justify a crime.
-
These are all irrelevant of course as to whether or not Trump's actions were impeachable. You've taken the analogy too far. The point is YOUR crime is not excused simply because your victim is a bad guy.

Google is your friend. Give me a break. Whenever anyone disagrees with you your first response is to say you are being silenced. You are not being persecuted here.

Loved it! And of course there was a hound dog walking by. 😁

Just had to take a potshot at him... I guess congeniality won't be joining us today.
-
Of course. Always a good reminder.

No, to assume one is a "MAGA hat wearing Trump supporter" just because they question how the impeachment is being done. It's getting old.
-
That would be a terrible thing. Does it actually happen?

YJ02 is a big boy and has had every opportunity to clarify his assertion. I don't think he needs you speaking for him. And if it was simply hyperbole and he only now chooses to tell us then we are again wasting our time. What is the point of having a debate if you can later say "I know I let you think that while we were talking, but only now will I tell you what I really meant."

I feel pretty confident that it will indeed lead to further polarization. I could be wrong of course but I suspect that a reasonable review of the evidence will lead people to conclude that Trump did indeed commit impeachable acts. I also feel that a majority of Trump supporters either are not reasonable in their review of the evidence, or do not care one way or the other what the evidence says. It is also my opinion that people who were on the fence and now choose to vote for Trump due to the impeachment inquiry, are not terribly reasonable people. In other words, the impeachment will have a negligible effect on the outcome of the election. However, my opinion of who is reasonable and who is not is irrelevant. Some will vote for Trump because he could indeed shoot someone on 5th Ave. and get away with it. Some will vote for him simply because he has an "R" next to his name on the ballot. Some because they hate liberals/liberalism that much. I think that anyone who is a centrist and votes for Trump due to the impeachment was not really on the fence in the first place. And none of that has any impact on whether or not I think the impeachment should proceed. I believe the evidence supports the assertion that Trump committed impeachable offenses and therefore should be impeached. I don't care if the people involved are biased against him or not as long as the evidence supports an impeachment. I don't care how many people are offended by impeachment. I didn't care how many people were offended by the Civil Rights Act, or the recognition of the rights of gays to marry. I think some things you do because it is the right thing to do.

Hmm. For me it is right there when I "Edit Profile". Don't know why you are not seeing it. May need a moderator to step in and help you.

No kidding. I'm so tired of people who pull this stuff out of their asses, believe it passionately, and cannot believe someone has a nerve to question where they get their information. It's a fucking science forum.

At the risk of making you feel I am trying to shut down the speech and opinion of someone like you, would it be too much to ask for some evidence to support the above claim?

Google the R value of plastic and metal.

You certainly didn't receive a clear answer.

It's a shame that debate has not moved beyond petty insults and toilet humor. -
I don't object to discussing specifics when asked.
