You seem to be missing the distinction that Bufofrog made. This thread is titled "What is the Purpose of Life?", not "What is the purpose of YOUR life?" You can find a purpose for yourself, you can make something that has a specific purpose, and you can even give purpose to a rock by using it as a paperweight. But to suggest Life (capital 'L') has a purpose, implies that some forethought went into the creation of life in the universe, which presupposes a god of some sort. As there is no evidence of any of the thousands of gods proposed over the years, it seems safe to say that life is no more than just another possible configuration of matter in the universe, along with rocks, feldspar, and electrons. Meaning, if feldspar doesn't have a "purpose", then neither does life.

I hate to see someone else blamed for my neg rep. Typically I find it is best to call someone out for trolling AFTER they've trolled, rather than assume they are a troll in disguise. Not everyone has yet come to the firm conclusion that the vaccine for everyone is a no-brainer like most people on this site have. It might be best to let them finish their journey of education rather than insult them because they haven't already arrived. I've recently found myself discussing the vaccine with people in their 20's and 30's who are hesitating because they don't know if the vaccine is worth the risk for them personally. Asking for a discussion around this aspect of the pandemic is something I might have pursued myself to fill out my overall understanding and help me in being persuasive.

The geometric design of the Giza pyramids

I think his point was that it might make it somewhat less pertinent. -
I'm in no position to evaluate the veracity of this article but it seems to indicate that the MMR vaccine may be responsible for lessening the impact of COVID-19 on people. In part, the more recent the MMR vaccination, the less likely you are to have a severe reaction to the disease. Hence, younger people are impacted by COVID-19 less than older people. https://mbio.asm.org/content/11/6/e02628-20

Today I learned that this year's version of the Brood X cicadas are giving it all they've got! https://www.npr.org/2021/05/18/997998920/the-fungus-thats-making-cicadas-sex-crazy

Can you please provide your evidence for this assertion?

Don't you have anything better to do with your time?

I can assure you that the vast majority of my money (or even the money supply of the entire United States) can neither be seen nor handled. You both are defining 'money' narrowly to meet your own purposes.

Only if you redefine the word to eliminate one of its common usages.

Evolutionary origins of the feelings and emotions

Hmm. Good point. It really does a good job of identifying them even though they are using the term to identify us. +1 😀 -
Evolutionary origins of the feelings and emotions
zapatos replied to Bond777's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Are you saying humans have no instincts? Does someone teach a baby how to suckle? And please don't call people Darwinists. It is a pejorative term used by people to belittle those who accept Evolution. -
Why is the number '6' on a clock face oriented right-side up when using Arabic numerals... ...but upside down when using Roman numerals?

That clock wouldn't work no matter how she put it up.

Space - Can Private Industry actually compete with China?
zapatos replied to DeepSeaBase's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
At the risk of again having my request being turned down as you theatrically 'yawn', could you be so kind as to provide a citation for your claim? According to everything I can find, the US spends significantly more than China on space exploration. For example... https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/space-exploration-and-us-competitiveness -
Space - Can Private Industry actually compete with China?
zapatos replied to DeepSeaBase's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Sorry but can you convert that idiom to what it means in practical terms? I'm still unclear what it means to 'compete' against China wrt space. Are you saying China will win international launch contracts that the US will lose? Or that China can militarize space better than US private industry can militarize space? -
Space - Can Private Industry actually compete with China?

In what respect? Are you suggesting that China is going to run private industry out of business? -
Can you explain why please?

Again you are misrepresenting things. The article speaks of $23B in REVENUE, not profit.

There is a great deal of neurobiological research.

How about you stop making claims that you are unwilling to support? You are claiming that one of the reasons they will not be able to get the required number of passengers is because their heirs and lawyers can have them declared insane for wanting to spend a portion of their wealth on a trip to space instead of leaving it to their heirs. That's a pretty bold legal claim. If you are going to use that as part of your argument you should be willing to back it up. "Just believe me" doesn't cut it.

Citation please. Citation please. Citation please.

Fine. Then don't counter referenced sources with 'common sense' on a science site. Why would I believe you, some random guy on the internet, over a referenced source? If you want to make claims here you need to be willing to back them up with something more than your incredulity.
