And I know we should get away from this big brother attitude that has steadily grown on us since the early 1940s. I didn't say the program wasn't propaganda. To me the word fits perfectly well and with very good reason. At least it's an honest propaganda, not a scam to sell you a new toaster or a solar panel. An old adage I once heard and learned many years ago says, Never bring a knife to a gun fight, unless you have a bigger gun to back it up. And, this nation that I love clearly fits into that catagory quite well. Yes, we have made mistakes since WWII. But never ones of malicious hate or a quest for power. No!, by 1945 this country had amassed an arsenal second to none in the world. And from what our intelligence saw at the time, new threats for world domination were coming from our neighbors, The U.S.S.R. and China. Russia had already gobbled up over half of Europe, and China was hell bent on dismanteling the Far East. How was this rape supposed to be stopped? By some well motivated but troubled allies assuming they may be next, and the good old U.S.A., now referred to as a Super Power. Perhaps "Scruples" should have also been brought into the mix, along with Morals and Ethics. Scruples to me are the culmination of ethics and morals. Most of these kids you see on that carrier will go home as well grounded, mature adults with no axe to grind with anyone, or loss of body parts. And chances are you will never see any two of them standing on a street corner looking for trouble to get into. .

Supose I should have explained myself a bit more in detail. I'm not saying that of the 6,000 kids on that vessel all will come home as choir boys or girls. But of the ones I do know who served, all of them came home as better people because of their experience. Two of the guys in particular had been on a slippery slope even before they were in their teens. Both did their tour as Marines and for the past 20 years they have been good citizens. Something changed them for which I am glad.Now, if we could just get our elected politicians to follow such regimentation.

Captain, if I may I ask, where are you from? I ask this only in trying to understand your opposing viewpoint, since evidently you aren't from from the United States. As for morals and ethics, these kids are not mercinaries by any stretch of the imagination and by and large, most will return home after a four year hitch, non the worse for wear and with an education money can't buy. It's a shame that many of us are so narrow minded as to venture why this type of action still remains necessary after 60+ years. But, when the leader of a nation openly calls for our destruction and the total annihilation of another sovereign country, or murders its own people because they are unhappy with their present regime, there's trouble in River City. My fervent hope is that this nation never has to undergo such an ordeal again.

Looking at ten minutes of what these kids are capable of and do best at this point in their lives, makes me proud to be an American. They, along with the other tactical carrier groups in our Navy are capable of totally destroying half the world before breakfast, and Lord only knows the mayhem that could be generated between that time and brunch? Until there is an absolute congruous relationship between nations, there can be no harmony among people. Today we find so many reasons to blame others for the worlds ills, we fail to realize our own involvement as being part of the problem. Morals and ethics supersede both God(s) or Scientific initiatives.

The real issue is whether or not we teach to enforce the knowledge of our children, or undercut that knowledge by deleting words, phrases and history from their curriculum that we find unnecessary and don't want them to know or even hear. Words like, dinosaurs, cookies, cake, piggy bank, slavery and war, among many others. Religion has done little in creating a more civilized world, but Ethics, Morals, Truth and History have, and will continue to do so as long as they are allowed to guide us.

We all use electricity to turn on our lights in the evening, to read by, watch TV or to play video games with on the computer. I was trying to follow a post about gravity and magnetism that was just too technical for me and wondered if someone might have an idea about this question. How can an almost non-ferris asteroid such as Ida have a moon? It's must be either one of two things, gravity or magnetism. This is a bit off subject, but you can use me as a lame link, one way or the other. Since I've been retired (a few years now) and my health care plan has been negotiated at least three different times through my (business) handlers, progressivly national rates have gone up while my coverage has gone down. Late Nov. 2011, I had a mishap when stepping out onto my front porch that caused terrible contusions to both my knees, which I didn't realise until later. By 3AM the following morning the pain was so intense I would have screamed, but I didn't want to wake my neighbors. Couldn't walk, so; called my daughter and waited for the EMT. About fifteen minues later thay took me to the hospital. The trip, 1.2 miles. Total time, less than 20 mins. They take me to the ER and are gone. So, first things first. Do you have insurance Mr.Rigney? With whom? Then the waiting begins. After about 30 Mins. the nurse, clerk or what ever comes back in to tell me that I have been delivered to the wrong hospital. My daughter looks at me out of pure curiosity??? Can you beat that, I'm in the wrong hospital! My God! my family has been associated with this hospital for over forty years. (New health care coverage). The one they should have taken me to is another 22 miles further out. Fortunately for me an un-extended stay in this hospitals ER is acceptable. To shorten up on this tear jerker, I was in the ER for seven hours. During that time my knees were x-rayed, and my left knee was drained of fluid. Eventually I was wheeled to the exit, where my daughter and an attendant helped me into my daughters car. She drives me home, helps me up my 7 back steps and eventually into bed. What a day. EMT trip $550.00, co-pay $75.00. ER stay and treatment $1,530.00, co-pay $50.00. And I'm to feel blessed?. An indigent from off the street would have receiveded the same care for no price at all. I'm blessed only in the fact that I had the $125.00 to cover the co-pays. Of course my bourbon intake has been limiter for the next few months.

What worries me most, is when we all become patients again, instead of business oportunities, it will be too late. Prior to 1965 when President Johnson created Medicare and Medicaid, things weren't too bad. Even totally indigent people could be admitted to a hospital if they were critically ill, injured, or to a soup kitchen if they were hungry. Since that time, things in the "medical fields" have been going down hill. I believe everyone deserves a slice of the pie, just not the size that might go to T.
