Google!"Anyone who becomes seriously involved in the persuit of science, becomes convinced that there is a spirit manifest in laws of the universe. A spirit vastly superior to that of man" - Albert Einstien Oh yes! Feynman is intelligent, even smart perhaps. But those eight minutes only proved how dumb we, the masses are. And if B.S. was dynamite, I'd never get near that guy with a lighted cigarette.

Just got around to replying, and wondered why you of all people would consider the video irrelevant? Since electricity is not a novel thing to me, and being that you have worked with nuclear power generation, I assume it isn't novel to you either. I put the video in to let others understand why someone might have this fit of grandure. "I don't", but neither do I consider it irrelevant. When you're smart enough, and have all of the answers, then make that statement. Otherwise, keep it in the ballyard. I don't know if these people have a case at all, but neither do you. So, don't be nasty, just civil. Where did I make a claim that was either true or false? I made no claims. Read what I wrote, not what you thought I had written. No disrespect, but what are you trying to tell me? Trivially falcified? What is that even rationally supposed to mean? You have no idea of what magnetism is no more than you do gravity. Yet you say "Trivially Falsified". I'm sure you have a better answer than that?Am I supposed to be impressed with this? Since you seem to have all of the answers and know my thoughts, we don't need for everyone to know my mind. You pick one.

Wis. GOP sends state troopers after Democratic senate leader 02-18-2011 10:56 AM EST MADISON, Wis. (Associated Press) -- Republicans in the Wisconsin state Senate have asked the governor to send state troopers after Democratic leader Mark Miller. Senate Democrats are boycotting a Senate vote on a bill that would strip public sector workers of their collective bargaining rights. They have been missing from the Capitol for a day and a half. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he has asked Gov. Scott Walker to send two state troopers to Miller's home in Monona. He says he believes the troopers are en route. The Wisconsin Constitution prohibits police from arresting legislators while they're in session. Fitzgerald says he just wants to send a message to Miller, if he's even home; that he must bring his caucus back to Madison.

"Touche" Man! Your answer is the best explanation I've read so far.

I can't humor you, but only relate my feelings. Like a Manson, behind bars for over 40 years and in total isolation. and Christ almighty, he didn't kill even a single person. Costly? Yes! But, put him down on the floor for a day or two and then bury his sorry ass. This Green River s.o.b.? Maybe an hour on the floor, at best. The head chopper? Shit, even less. A shank in his ribs and it's finished. No more free board, bath and breakfast. Three time losers locked up for life on only drug charges, laugh at our legal indiscriminations. What a bunch of asses we are.

No! my post had nothing to do with law, but the lack of law. Even had our old "horse theft" law been enforced, this gloating bastard would have already swung. You speak of benevolent laws in Europe today where there is no death penalty. I hope for your sake this mandate can remain in effect forever. But do I believe it will? No more than I don't believe another Hitler will pop up on the scene again. You may not spell it in German, French, English, Slavic or even Russian, but tyranny doesn't humble the mighty and the strong, only the meek. But then who knows, It may be America's turn in the barrell again?
-
You haven't once discussed any law or rationale, only your opinion, as I have mine. Are you beyond simple explanations? I use many expressions when trying to make a point. And God, is just one of them. Now if using that (?) name is a bugaboo to you, it's possible there may be a skeleton or two in your own closet. Not being sure, I'll just refer to it as a slight bit of paranoia. But enough of that!. And since I neither write nor interpret law, I let our illustrious and esteemed judicial system do that for me. But where do you think those libraries of law books came from, "Mother Goose and the "The Grimms Brothers Fairy Tales"? But then, I'm beginning to wonder myself? Am I emotional about certain things? You're damned right. And cold blooded murdering s.o.bs. sitting in jail cells for life at my expense, are at the top of my A list. If you think that Green River nut case, or this latest kook who beheaded his wife, don't deserve the death penalty, then you're right, we haven't a thing in common. And GOD, don't take him totally out of the mix just yet. Either he or the booger man could be hiding 'hind a rock somewhere, ready to pounce on you? As I see it, anyone who remotely coddles, condones or forgives, either of these murderous bastards, must spend a lot of time patching the knees of their jeans. So I say, Bless their pea pickin' hearts!

You could be absolutely right and me, entirely wrong. But, we have different philosophy's portraying this "sacrificial lamb thing", and it has gone on far too long, that we continue to believe in such Bull Shit. If nothing else, remember; a coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave person; only once. If I should die knowing that even ten murderous bastards would not go free, but finish their lives like me, then pull the switch. GOD; if you're there; this is only in supplication.
-
You're right, and the situation is relevant to any arguement. To murder someone in that fashion, you are just as guilty as the one trying to take your life. But then, our entire judicial system has gone to hell in a hand basket and almost as lawless as the criminal. Yes, there are good attorneys out there, but they are becoming a rare breed.

What do you consider a moral obligation? I would not take you as a conscious objector, but on the other hand, are you? Were you ever in the military? If not, it's hard spelling out morals while using such a concept. A spotter picks up a sniper at 2,000 yds. The shooter gets into position and caps the supposed (bad guy). Morally, is this right or wrong? Be honest! and tell me your thoughts. An enemy walks into your camp, unarmed and with his hand folded neatly behind his head. But instinctively you bust a cap on him. Right, wrong? It's 2AM, you and your wife are lying peacefully in bed. Your door creaks open and the hulk of an intruder is standing only feet from you. Do you cover your head and pray, holler out, "Halt, who goes there?" Or simply cap the dumb s,o.b. and let the cops sort it out? No! morals can't be played out in todays court room settings. Our judicial system is a shambles and too dramatic to get things done right. And why?, there is so much money changing hands The game is better than drug trafficing and it's legal. Should the shooter in either of the instances not have shot the perp, but simply let him walk away, or feed him? Be your own judge. Should any of the three be prosecuted? I pray nothing like this ever happens in your life. With your concept of fairness, I can't imagine you making such a decision.

I pretty much explained how I feel about killing morally, not legally as you define it. Here in the states we have laws on the books governing everything from passing gas in church to the proper method of spitting on a sidewalk. And those laws go on to include mass murder. It's that gray area of the application which pisses me off and nullifies the effect of these laws. Our biggest loop hole is the legal profession itself. When I arrived in Cleveland, Ohio in 1951, if you went to the yellow pages of a phone book, you'd likely find a dozen or so pages dedicated to attorneys. Today, 60 years later and with half the population, attorneys need their own phone book. Since 1951 the population of Cleveland has diminished by a resounding 50%. From close to a million then, as compared to less than 500,000 today. But, our phone book have grown to require an additional 128 pages listing only Attorneys. And as I said, with half the population? And why? You may be a law school student or a practicing attorney, but I don't plan to be dragged into a professional dispute where I have no expertise. The Manson's, O.J.Simpsons, Green River stranglers, plus a host of other brutal murderin' bastards that are sitting in a jail cell for life at my expense, makes looking at the prospects of Sharia law, not seem too bad. But, if you are actually looking to define sympathy, you might go to the dictionary. The definition, i'm sure is somewhere between sh-t and syphilis. Have a good one.

Where in "hell" did you last hear the word "labour" unless used by some radical leftwing orginization like ACORN, trying to tear our government apart? You have never ever, seen a 10, 12, 14, or even a 16 year old, walk into a ficility decked out, and ready to go to work, unles it was a fast food carry out. I'm a hell of a lot older than you and have never seen it. Yes, there was a time when "child labor" laws had no standard. You could work one of these kids until they dropped, but it rarely happened. The Simon Lagrees of that era weren't totally heartless nor dumb. Even a stupid hunter doesn't beat his best hunting dogs. Today, you sit on your ass until you retire, letting the companies make the innovations an decisions, thus making you job even less important, but the pay still goes up. And Kids? they aren't involved at all. We are overly protective by sending them off to school, hoping many will become the next generation of lazy assed bastards wanting something for nothing. Don't we have enough of them right now? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labour_Party_(UK)

Na Man! don't beat's on youself to hard. If people like you not comin' inta the Carolinas, they be a welfare state fo sure. When I gets there, it probably gonna fall that ways anyhow.

Dupe me? Na! A good piece of t-il might have swayed me, but under normal circumstances, I'm way beyond being duped. As I've said, me and this forum began back in May of last year and I've loved every minute of it! My past seventy seven years + can't even come close to the knowledge I (should have)? soaked up over the past few months. Wisdom is not what we know, but that which we seek. Na! guy. I've told you time and time again; the Crow sh-t yu' and the sun hatched you". Yo' Momma and Daddy ain't got nothin' to do with it! Da' finds you in de turnip patch. quote and unquotes.

Your last question about electromagnetic fields? To deny what we know about gravity, should get you committed? The effects of it? I see as a stream running by, and me with only a fish net; trying to curb its movement. Could anything be more ridiculous? No! Since gravity is as gravity does, you can't disagree with it in a rational sense. But that's why there are backs on cards. Until you see the other side, you don't really know what you're dealing with. Gravity, like the card is something we know that it's there, and you're wishing for a couple Aces. And even as I believe magnetism is the intrinsic lifes blood of our universe, I can't prove it any more than disproving gravity. Right now gravity has the upper hand. I'm just hoping the Higgs boson will shed a little light on both. I'm only guessing, but you evidently don't like my approach to making, or repling to posts? And for that, I feel bad, I really do. Actually, I put that video in this post as total conjecture, nothing more. Moontanman has already "scathed" hell out of me for doing so. But many of you guys only read what you want to see. If you had looked closer, you would have seen that it wasn't my concept at all. Would some of you be a bit more perfunctury than just slamming the s-it out of me when I make what you believe to be a mistake? But then, Hey! I appreciated your post on how to use the system more efficently. Not that I've gotten much better at it! See what you're dealing with?

That is an inalienable right we all share here in the US as in many other countries. But to unequivocally call a thing factual without question would certainly make an idiot of me. A question that you needen't reply to, unless you wish, but do you believe in God? Out of context and with no finite answers, I apologize. But theory faith and philosophy will govern your reply. Don't be angry with me, and don't answer if you think you need not. But most of us believe in many things we aren't really sure of, or even less, understand? I'm likely just a skeptic.
-
I didn't think the video was irrevalent. But did I believe their theory? No more than I can believe everything coming down the pipe in some scientiic journal, trying to soothe my ignorance. I really appreciate some of you guys more than you realize, even when it hurts.! But to measure, interpolate and deduce our solar system, galaxy and entire universe on "supposed" knowledge?, Naa! I just cant go there. And DH, meaning no disrespect, but your rationale is the very reason why Madoff made off with billions. People simply believed. While I'm not a full blown skeptic, neither am I a conformist.
-
I can't argue with gravity. "It works"! But since I don't know how it works, I question its true place in science. With magnetism, I have the same problem. But with a couple of magnets, I can measure their strength with a simple strain gauge; lay them up on the mantle shelf and leave them there for five, ten years. And if they haven't been damaged, they will not diminish in their property by a dyne. And the math?, I started many years too late.
-
"Crackpottery"?! You're kidding of course, but I love it. In no way did I say our universe was electric. Just thought it might be something different for you to look at while mulling over your wisdom. Crackpottery! I'll have to remember that. But then, you're the guy with all of the right answers, but just don't give them up too easily. So, share them with us if you will. I love to listen and learn, unless it's math. I have no idea what you are explaining to me. Conjecture was my only motive for even opening this post. But, can you or anyone prove that gravity actually exists? Yes, there are some extremely good and well documented equations that I can't deny. But then, I can show you more than a hundred ways magnetism is a workable property of both electrical and electronics, in minutes. Magnetism isn't a physical thing, but an intrinsic phenomenon of nature that is the blood of each bit of matter in the universe and beyond. Can I prove it?, Hell no! It's only an assumption in which I have a lot of faith.
-
I didn't think the video was inappropriate, and if so; what is it that I should understand more clearly?
-
This is what I said: rigney Posted Today, 10:15 AM No where did I say our universe was an "electric Universe". Someone in the video stated that electricity plays a big part in how, even our solar system reacts to electricity. My thought is that electricity is only a part of what the universe is all about. Even if the Higgs boson turns out to be the the God Particle as theorised, I can't help but believe that the boson is magnetism in natures truest and only intrinsic form.
-
I simply have to throw this out, not as a solution; only conjecture. And any proof that I'm wrong is humbling, not devestating. I can live with that, but to simply tell me I'm wrong by your use of terminology and math beyond my grasp, is (B.S.) Someone bring this back in laymans terms and you have made a friend. If not, watch, listen and perhaps even you may learn something. By the way, I believe our magnetic universe, was infinately designed, long before the first "Big Bang".

ajb, As I have related in several earlier posts, my schooling in astrophysics started about 70 years too late. Math in any form?, even farther back. As much as I've read on the subject, my ignorance somehow doesn't let me relate to "gravity". And while the Higgs boson may never be more than a theory, I find its concept and rationale much easier to understand than gravity. Kim Griest from UCSD Phy Sci gave a fine talk on the Higgs boson. I had put this in an earlier post which you may have seen or even knew the particulars of beforehand. But to me there has to be a reason for a beginning and this fits the bill. Strange, how we take so much for granted. Empty space! http://documentaryheaven.com/the-mystery-of-empty-space/ Gas giants http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas-giant
