What if time was precursory to the BB, and the BB was precursory to time?
-
Believe me, without what "we describe" as gravity; time would not be relative to me, you or anything else as we know it.
-
Perhaps God is something like gravity? We have concocted many theories and stories explaining these two mysteries. But while there is something phenonenal in both that can be felt, no one can honestly explain either. And time? Time is only relevant to a particular event. Are God and gravity full time events?

Leader Bee, ain't no way you should be so ?, way before your time. Other than Mengeles experiments, your argument is one of the best for this age. Touche!
-
Do you honestly believe, or even think; this entire universe was put here just for folks like you and me? Go back to school Lad. You're a day late and a dollar short!

My brain just doesn't work that fast anymore. I remember that little tid bit from 65 or 70 years ago. I'm just still laughing at the thought of a toasted penguin!
-
Have you ever considered "Quantum Teleportation"? A thought has to be transcribed. Movement, must be choreographed. Each of the two take time. "IF" God exists, don't you think he would have considered our motives for asking such questions? Where is Occams razor when you need it?

Is that where the word brackish comes from?

Klaplunk, if you weren't so intelligent; I'd tell you in a heart beat where to go. You have a lot to offer, but so screwed up with your intellect that most folks don't understand where you're coming from or what you're talking about, which in itself, doesn't help anyone. This guy, in trying to explain his roots may not impress you; (although I believe it does) is not talking religion, but bringing humanity to some sort of understanding. If you actually put an effort into using some of your words to help rather than hinder a cause, think of the effect you might have? Me? I'm not a good guy nor a bad guy, and don't have your savvy. But You make it a point to come across as a perfect a--. Get your head in gear and do something constructive with that brain of yours other than using it for clandestine criticism.

On Love I sit, on Love I stand, and Love I hold in my right hand. Love I see in yon green tree, yet poor Love cannot see me.

I walk into my back yard as my cat is lying in the grass. I either do or don't pick a thin stick from a birch tree by the porch, and long before he sees me coming. He loves to play with sticks. So, many times I carry one with me. Even with my hands behind my back, with or without the stick, Kelly gets it right every time. If I have the stick, he goes into a crouch preparing to spring. If not, he rolls over on his side and stretches, waiting for me to rub him down. I've tried several variations to trick him by either me or one of my children. But this guy is phenomenal. Am I, or the kids giving this game away? Or is Kelly simply that smart? 'cmon on over, I'll give you a shot at him. What is instinct?

I'm sittin' her laughing my a-- off. You evidently have a Phd in somethin'. Ain't no one supposed to be that damn quick on the trigger 'less they've got the drop on some dude. Sh--, I'm still at it! lol - Moon actually got it, but I'm sure you knew the answer? "Penguin with a sunburn". Sh-t again.

What's black and white and red all over?

Thanks Jackson. While I'm not overly cocerned with quotes and such, it does piss me off to lose what I think is a well thought out message because the damned program says I've ran out of time. From now on I'll simply edit and save it. Then I don't have to worry.

I really hate to see this post die, only because many people like Hawkings, Einstein, Hubble and some of the newer breed actually have a lot of insight as to what these holes are. While my thoughts are non instrumental, the folks mentioned above have many well thought out principles as to why these holes exist. Personally, but with no proof, I believe black holes are conduits back to creation. We know matter has more than one facet of existance. These may be contained in anti-matter, dark matter and possibly anti-matter, or anti-energy. Unless our universe is in a steady state of unison, these holes must go some where? Could it be that one of these anti's, at some future date, may be the reason for a new beginning?

Since everyone is a bit shy about replying, I'll give you the answer. It's a boot. Years ago, perhaps seventy, eighty, or more. As far back as to when the use of rubber was invented, the style of rubber boots were usually black and shiny on the outside with a soft red felt inner lining. So, black on the outside, red on the in, lift up a leg and poke it in. You just held the boot in your hands, lifted your leg up and slid your foot down into it. I know, you thought I was talking about an oil well with red fire ants? Moontan even had a frog in a blender.

To say I'm pi-sed is to be using a mild expletive. I spent the better part of an hour editing an answer to Sisyphus only to find that when I tried to post, my time had ran out and I couldnt get it done. I signed back in, but the message was lost. How the hell does an old fart like me get around in this new can of worms?

Gotta tell you Tom, I probably made the statement to placate or sudue my own ignorance, but I'm learning! Went back and reread the forum rules again today and realized what an ass I've been making of myself. You and most of the guys are actually interested in debate while I thought most of it was meant as offensive. Dumb! I apologise.

The short video, while it may seem insignificent, was a bit inspiring to me. Not that it made me feel, or dwell on a religious platitude that I can't ascribe to. But I simply don't just kick a crutch from under a persons shoulder because I don't need one. Go back and take another look at the video! Thats what it's all about, the pictures. Other than the intro and hearing someone repeating God from time and saying I believe, I thought the photography was fantastic. That's our earth! And as far as we know, there isn't another like it.

Wish I could wrap my head around the whole enchilada 33, and go on to something else, but I can't. your explination is straight-forward, and in most part pretty much the norm that I've read and heard over and over again. But, it's still a mystery to me how the universe can be theorized as creating space at a speed perhaps grearer than light, yet considered only as expansion. The loaf of raisin bread used in many demonstrations is a good example. Yes, the stationary loaf of bread is rising, expanding if you will, but not moving faster, only increasing in size. Sisyphus put it on a level of things being relative to one another much as Einstein did in his theories. which is very true. I suppose my fallacy is in believing the universe as something eternal, "cyclical", and having nothing to do with GOD. Yet not being able to substantiate this origin, makes it a conundrum? I have put together an unfounded thesis as to how the process might work, but am reluctant to take the heat for it's radicalism. That's pretty much how things stand at the moment in our own world. Quite a bit of proven theory, but much of the "I think" Or we believe that:? Or the theory is:? Anyone can hypothesise a chain of events leading up to some conclusion, but it's only a pipe dream unless you have some fundamental proof backing up the theory. My story at the moment is nothing more than just that, a story.

This post wasn't offered as a means of trying to convert anyone to religion. Pictures the Hubble telescope take of our fantastic galxy and deep space are every bit as impressive, if not even more so than that little video. But few of them are put on the tube without drama of some sort or another. Much of it gives me goose bumps when music is part of the presentation. I mean it's riviting being able to see the inside of a giant quasar. pulsar and many other phenomena that clear lens lets us see. No!, how ever we perceive the gift of our brain and the senses we pocess, should not be taken lightly. If a person thinks there is no crearor other the time nature has provided to get the job done, that's their business. Me, I merely said that it makes me wonder at tmes. As I stated at the get go, I'm not religious, not even a very good agnostic. But I am definitly not an atheist. No disrespect to anyone with that opinion, but it must take an awful lot of knowledge and faith to profess atheism. Myself, I honestly don't ever want to get that smart.

I realize my whole concept of creation is likely unfounded and less than rudimentary. But somehow I just can't think of the BB as anything other than a huge explosion of energy that hurled matter out in all directions at a constant rate of speed and into a never ending void. I hate using the word, but every time I try continuum, someone takes a stick to me. Yes, great minds have developed numerous schism(s) proving their points to some degree, and for which we should all be thankful. But being thankful doesn't solve the problem. Why are there so many variables? Such as, we started out at x speed, increased to y speed and now have slowed to z speed, while seemingly at the far reaches of our universe, have again exceeded the speed of light. My initial question was not to add conjecture, but only something I came across and wondered about??? Thanks 33

Heck, I never thought of it like that. But you know somethin', I have felt better the past few days???

Just about the time one of my unsolved mysteries of the universe seems close to an answer, something else always sets me back on the straight and narrow, letting me know that I'm not even in the same ball park. According to Hubble, our universe is zipping along at the speed of light. As we look deeper out into time, supposedly, 13.5 billion light years, that speed even surpasses light speed. A couple of weeks ago I came across some information on Google that many of you have likely read and understand. I'm still trying to make sense out of it. The information below got me back to a bit of rational thinking. Speed of the Milky Way in Space The Physics Factbook™ Edited by Glenn Elert -- Written by his students An educational, Fair Use website topic index | author index | special index Bibliographic Entry Result (w/surrounding text) Standardized Result Kraan-Korteweg, Renée C. & Ofer Lahav. "Galaxies Behind The Milky Way." Scientific America. October 1998. "These measurements, confirmed by the Cosmic Background Explorer satellite in 1989 and 1990, suggest that our galaxy and its neighbors, the so-called Local Group, are moving at 600 kilometers per second (1.34 million miles per hour) in the direction of the constellation Hydra." 600 km/s Does the Milky Way move in space or does it just stay put? Archive of Ask the Space Scientist FAQs. NASA/GSFC. "The total speed is about 300 kilometers per second or so." 300 km/s AstroFile -- Future Fate of the Milky Way Galaxy. Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy. 21 October 1997. "The Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy are approaching each other with a speed of 300,000 miles per hour." 130 km/s My question: If our universe is actually moving at the speed of light, how can these different speeds be interpreted as anything more than guesses?

Well, keep them critters in your own back yard! I don't like 'em either and have 6 zappers and a pond, "without fish". Clean, pretty, with a waterfall and kept full of chlorine.
