  1. Since everyone seems to be fluent in Sharia Law, perhaps being a "Bigot" is a better way of approaching the problem. Who! is "not" a Bigot that denounces their opponent as a Bigot? Me, I believe that even with all of the heart ache and angst brought on by this terrible devestation, N.Y. can still use the tax money from this project to supplement their welfare programs.
  2. Quite right Sayonara, I'd say much more a controversialist. But I don't believe Pat is a fanatic.
  3. Pangloss (Wait, what?) Today, 9:26 AM #1 ModeratorWorld Cup 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First the colonies, now that goal. Is there anything that won't slip through your fingers, England? Have to believe that was an Aussie having a go at someone from: Bristol or Bermingham, perhaps? And you still regard us as "The Colonies" Tsk-Tsk!!
  4. As I said at the beginning, I'm much more an agnostic than a zealot, or passivist to any religion. So, before getting into the semantics of having either or both explained to me, I'm wondering if any of you are familiar with Sharia Law? If not, I suggest you read it. If you have read it and espouse its (Theology?), then I have to say that I'm worried more than ever. Even for a country as young as America is, we "only began" to crawl from under our own rocks in 1865. Civilization and Fanaticism are like oil and water, they simply don't mix. Read Sharia Law, then come back and bash old Pat again if you like. A controversialist and a comedian?, the guy sure is. But you see, you don't have to take Pat serious. Sharia Law on the other hand has been an ascending form of governmental law for roughly 1600 years and is not likely to cede or capitulate their slightest instinct to western thought? So, be as reticsent as you like or vent your spleen on Pat, but you had best give this law some deep, deep thought.
  5. Just thought if I was making a mistake, someone would shoot it down before getting out of hand. While not being your average coward, I've become cautious. Thanks Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedI know I've only been here with the forum for a short time and am probably a pain in the "derriere" to some of you folks, but is this what we are looking forward to?? (This Limey, affectionately) even though a Comedian, says it all, "LOUD and CLEAR". Bob Hope could not have done a more masterful job of explaining it. I'm not bashing Muslims, they have their own problems. But I'm bashing a cowardly systen in America that allows this type of sh-t to happen with what seems to be no redress!! I'd rather take my chances with the illegals wading across the Rio Grande!!
  6. Thanks Zolar V. I was hoping someone would come up with a valid answer, but then, it did get away from the original question. Now, if someone can give me a good, "I think So"; and explain it, I'll be happy?
  7. Since I'm a little more Agnostic than religious, I thought such a snippet best go here. An English comedian narrates this little gem reminding Americans that America should not be a proving ground for Middle East Networking. Most memorable line in this: "America is being crippled by political correctness..." Wow! ..Google up, "Pat Condell on Ground Zero mosque": "Is it possible to be astonished, but not surprised?"
  8. swansont (Shaken, not Stirred) Today, 4:24 AM #6 Physics Expert ModeratorThe earth's magnetic field has changed orientation many times in its history, and we're overdue for another swapping of the poles. ______________ Have you ever read a short narrative by Chan Thomas called: The Adam and Eve Story? Was in print some forty/fifty years ago. Quite interesting. The book!, Total conjecture or real? I don't know! But then, it did get us away from the initial question, which was probably a good thing. But can anyone supply me with an excerpt from something "legitimate", explaining how a clean "solitary steel ball bearing" can be magnetized.
  9. He must have heard you Timo. I understand he's working at McDonalds; and happy as a lark!!
  10. If, after four and a half billion years of being a satellite to our sun; can't we get around to calling the earth permanent?
  11. I don't know too much about global warming, but barring another Pinatubo, Krakatau, Mt. St. Helens and Vesuvius all erupting at the same time, I really have to give Al Gore a little credit. A thing like this can get close to your heart. This Oil spill! Plus the new coal burning mills, factories and power plants going up throughout the world, except here in the states makes me wonder? Oil Spill! http://www.ifitwasmyhome.com
  12. Was questioning Google on the possibility of permanently magnetizing a "ball bearing"? Since this question isn't new, I searched through four or five pages of answers and never come across anything substantive, but did see some gimmicks. Can it be done? Never tried it, but I don't think so. Yet, with five hundred miles of molten iron at the core of our planet and it's polarized, "How"?
  13. Bar code?? Touche!, Phi. But yu' gotta be careful. Some of us out there still don't rely "totally" on welfare.
  14. Our judicial and penal systems are so passé in this country that nothing will make a dent in drug traffiking other than absolution to include the Catholic version of: "Last Rites". And this, to both the offender, and the offender. Same thing should apply to Rapist, Habitual Thieves and Murderers. Don't get me wrong folks, this is only a thought? But our prisons are overrun and have simply become Rest Havens, "Snicker Joints" and a place for criminals to convalesce, while getting ready to commit more crime; and at our expense.
  15. Swansont, I didn't mean to make a stink with that "faster than light" thing. I know this is a Science Forum, and I made a mistake. But was just wondering how to put an "Idea" out there without someone taking total offense? I realize there is quite a difference between theories, hypotheticals and a supposition. Sometimes an idea is all that is needed, and some of these kids may run with it. If there is a way of doing this without falling through the cracks, I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

  16. However, simple speculation almost demands there be something more powerful out there, than what we see as a universe.
  17. What would you consider Quantum teleportation of today to be?
  18. Moontan, are you a Trekkie? And you're right about the phrase. I too, don't believe Inst Trans Tel was ever used on the program. As the moderator said: Try sticking to facts or at least feasible questions. When asked by Time Magazine in 1994, "How do the Heisenberg compensators work?" Mike Okuda famously replied, "They work just fine, thank you." But remember; The Heisenberg compensator started originally as a joke put on the transporter console in TNG.
  19. Almost verbatim, from a "STAR TREK" episode some years back. I can't remember exactly when, but Capt. Kirk was on a planet and asked Scotty to "beam him up" to the Star Ship Enterprise. The transfer was referred to as: instantaneous trancendental teleportation? Not to be factitious, but yes, I do believe such a thing is possible.
  20. Wrote this for a daughter being asked to present an essay conserning present day problems. I can explain? Great stones await, swords clash and grate, for those who would cross this moat. Yet!, hark in the "still, see" those who would will me, a cut to my aged throat??
  21. Joe Arpaio, head police Honcho in Maricopa County, Arizona; has the best word to be used on a guy like this who steals your stuff. He calls them an "Inmate". Hope they catch the "crud"
  22. Fuzzwood, I'm about ready to sick... the "Tooth Fairy" on you. Anyway, who says I'm a scientist?
  23. There is huge difference between BELIEVE & KNOW, Edtharan. I can fantasize ("believe") that the universe is huge ice-cream cone, but I don't factually ("know") it for sure? Ditto for Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny too.
  24. Moontanman (Organism) Today, 6:14 PM #5 Exactly what is instantaneous trancendental teleportation? Ok! Moon-tan guy, you've snookered me again. But I simply like the expression, which I'm sure you're becoming accustomed to by now. Seriously though, I believe nature has been using this protocol since the first day of creation. But since there's no way to prove it, I don't want to get locked up in a "Loony Bin" just for thinking it. If I can get some serious questions and be able to answer them without feeling like the village idiot, I just might share these thoughts? Have a good one!!
  25. Why Theo? No one seems to be afraid of making obtrusive annotations belying what may even have a ring of truth to it??
