That has to screw with the whole S and W force thing then.

Besides the fact that that is the definition of war? What I'm saying is that they might not see it as a good thing, but that's because they've lived under Hussein for so long. I would say before the war, many of them would've jumped at the chance to live in a country like Britain or the USA. The only problem now is that they haven't reached that point with their own country. I would dare say that when their country settles down a bit, they will be a little happier than when they were living under Hussein.

So they can go read the mod forums and such but can't actualy reply? And how were the four VIP's chosen?
-
That's what sparked the question Cap'n. So YT, here is the forum leaders list with the four VIP's at the bottom.

I origionaly thought of atoms, but the electron part confused me. Would the electrons have to stop moving to reach these temperatures?
-
What particle would be used to obtain such a low temperature?
-
I don't want to start a new thread because this should only take one post to answer, but what are the VIP users?

All the reports I've heard have said that education has been terrible under Hussein. He has taught them that it's either his way or no way and not much else. At some point this would have to be done. They don't like it...yet. Maybe they won't ever like our concept of freedom, but I doubt that. What they need is to have someone carry through with the overthrow of Hussein. No more writing him a stern letter with an or else clause that never gets carried out. Maybe now wasn't the best time, but eventualy it would have to be done. Kind of like the bear caught in the trap scenario or something like that.

So from the link a while back that Sayo gave, it would appear that the elevator would run around (on the outide) of a wire hung in space. How would the wire manage to stay up there? (I'd read the full link but I'm low on time right now).
-
That sounds good then. I'll try to start using it a bit.
-
So the goal is to rate them after they've died down? Otherwise, what coudl you do if the thread starts out bad but gets good, or, more likely, the other way around: started good but quickly got bad?

I really doubt Al-quida will attack us anytime soon. They might be mad, but their in shambles. And telling families they can have food as long as the patriarch goes on a suicide mission isn't exactly incentive. But who is the "us" you refer to in the last sentence?

And although about half of those posts were yours dave, the quality is still good. I would have never guessed 425 though. That seemed high, though I don't read all the forums...

I wuold say very little, except for those people who want to make something out of it.

Calculus I: Lesson 1 - A background to differentation
jordan replied to Dave's topic in Mathematics Tutorials
I never even thought of throwing trig functions in there. In fact, I don't even want to start thinking about it. Seems I'm decently comfortable on this subject now. I'll try a problem or two and post that with the answer I got to see if I'm on the right track (not today though). -
Oh, that's for you British. I thought there were still about 3:30 left.

Calculus I: Lesson 1 - A background to differentation
jordan replied to Dave's topic in Mathematics Tutorials
Hey. I got that. The post above where I guessed 2/5 I somehow canceled out the 25h at the begining of the denominator rather than just the h. This gave me the wrong answer but I see what is going on. Any more sample problems? -

So is number 2 [math]\frac{2}{5}[/math] -

Wouldn't the numerator be 1/(5-x)^2 - 1/25, not +. I see why what I did was wrong now, though. -

That and explaining where I went wrong would be very helpful. You're doing a great job explaining dave. I unerstand all that you're saying, it's just more difficult to ask questions in a situation like this. It's still a nice prep for next year in calc class. This is exactly the kind of stuff we'll be starting with. -
Calculus I: Lesson 1 - A background to differentation
jordan replied to Dave's topic in Mathematics Tutorials
[math](1+\frac{1}{h^2}-125)[/math] for the numerator. This simplifies to : [math](\frac{h^2+1+125h^2}{h^2})[/math] For the denominator I used: [math](1+h)-5[/math] which obviously simplifies to [math]h-4[/math] The result is [math]\frac{(\frac{h^2+1+125h^2}{h^2})}{h-4}[/math] Taking the [math]h^2[/math] in the middle down to the denominator causes problems though. I can't get it out and subsequently can't susbtitute 0 to get anything reasonable. Wow, this math text stuff works great. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks. -

I did exactly what you did up to this point and then was a little lost. MrL's post made sense, though. So that would make number 2...I'm getting -4 but that can't be right. As soon as I learn how to make the cool math text stuff I'll post my work so you can all help me find the glaringly obvious mistake. -
Nice Calculus problem involving Maclaurin series

How is group theory related to number thoery? -
Calculus I: Lesson 1 - A background to differentation
jordan replied to Dave's topic in Mathematics Tutorials
I am a little lost myself. Just two quick questions should clear things up: 1) Will the denominator always be (1+h)-1? 2) How does the value of x play into this? In the example, you solved for h and then plugged 0 in for h. Is that what you do for everything? -
Wait, I see. They got moved. Ok, but why is that?
