Perhaps it would be good if you actually told us what your hypothesis is. Not that it helps, because the data already show that you are wrong- as I said people would have noticed when they studied the data.

They did the study. It doesn't agree with your "theory".

Memory and intelligence (for any given definition) are strongly correlated; you can't figure stuff out if you can't remember it. All those people I cited also had good memories so the point is moot.

Just for the record and not because a single data point makes any real difference; Richard Feynman- noted polymath, genius and bright bloke was born 11 May 1918 under a new moon. He is, in fact, a counter example to the OP's assertion. (So are my brother, my mum and my dad- though I was born fairly near the full moon). Based on this laughable sample size of 5 it seems that most bright people are not born at the full moon.

Even if there were no specific legislation about unlicensed transmitters, you would still be causing a nuisance* to whoever it is you are trying to jam. That would get you sued. It's also likely to annoy them and people with legitimate transmitters are often parts of organisations you don't want to annoy. * in the legal sense an act which is harmful or offensive to the public or a member of it and for which there is a legal remedy.

Actually, we kind of know that this idea of cycles isn't true. People have looked into this sort of thing- you can Google it, as I did, and find reports. Those people analysed the data in detail. If they had found anything interesting, they would have reported it. But they didn't. That very strongly suggests there was nothing interesting to find.

I suspect it won't matter much in most applications. The only real way to find out if it makes a difference in the system you are using is to try both.

Yes you do; you have several. You call one of them the Internal Revenue Service. They make sure that people who are lucky enough to be born to rich families have access to tax havens, avoidance schemes and so on so they don't need to pay their share of the costs of the nation. Then there's the military industrial complex who make sure that those lucky enough to be able to pull strings get huge government investments to play with. And don't forget the defence Dept who make sure that, if you are lucky enough to have influential family ties you can sit out wars - like Vietnam- in nice safe homeland jobs. On the other hand there are departments like transpiration security- who penalise those who have the poor luck to be foreign, non-white or just plain poor, don't get any luck. Even the police and courts contribute to this- if you are unlucky enough to be anything but rich and white, you can expect to be punished more harshly for any crimes you might actually commit.

Apparently differently from you. My view is that the language has to be mutually comprehensible otherwise it's not the same language. Otherwise you run into the problem that, for example, Dutch and Afrikaans are the same language because there is some mutual understanding. I believe that some TV shows made in England have to be subtitled for an American audience. Why do you need to subtitle something that's in your own language? BTW, is Mexican English American English?

In case you didn't notice, I said that it's far from clear where the blame lies. Is it right to violently protest against someone who is inciting violence? Is it better to contact the police and get them to deal with it? Should the police stop Ben Shapiro making peaches that might result in violence or is the responsibility for that violence with those who participate in it? If you shout fire in a crowded theatre and people get hurt in the crush, are you the one who is responsible for the injuries?

Yes and no. A lot of people who live in America think they speak and write English, yet they use words and spellings that are not used or sometimes even recognised in England. If there is enough difference to say we need words to describe the variations (and the implication so far has been that we do) then you can't say they are the same thing. If "American English" is "English" then the "American" descriptor is redundant. Since it's accepted that the languages are different, you can't say that all these people speak English. I'm not saying it's not OK to say "British English", I'm saying it's meaningless because Britain is 3 or 4 countries (depending on whether you count N Ireland) and their languages are different. I presume that "Indian English" may have similar problems. it's hard to see how people with different mother tongues like Hindustanni and Urdu would use the same pronunciations/ accents etc for English. I have no doubt that some people can tell (roughly) where in India someone comes from by the way in which they speak English. I am quite happy to talk about Scouse English- the locations don't need to be very big. Imperialist would be if you tried to claim that your empire was so great it should take over as the official version of another country's language. Incidentally, the irony of the week award. "Hyphenated" is non-hyphenated but "non-hyphenated" is hyphenated. (I only mentioned that in case anyone had forgotten what the topic was about; perhaps we should get back to it)

"I can prescribe antibiotics- there's about a 1 in 10 chance that they will do you some good and about a 1 in 3 chance that they will give you the sh1ts: do you want them or not, your choice". I rather suspect that this problem is pretty much the same on both sides of the pond.
