It's one of the problems with dealing in infinities, I can (hypothetically) know an infinite number of things, but still not know an infinite number of others. Does that make me infinitely knowledgeable, or infinitely ignorant?

Firstly, plenty of inventions are based on peer reviewed stuff. essentially all the physics behind any new bit of electronics is well understood. The new ideas are, at the outset, based on carefully designed experiments that present data that challenges the old model and requires a new one. If Blacklight wanted to do that, they could- by simply opening the books. They already have the patents so they don't stand to lose a lot. But they can't for some reason. One possible reason is that they are bluffing. You should have realised by now that the author's pedigree is, at best, a hint at their validity. Rather than telling me that "I could easily list another dozen with equally impressive resumes." why not do what I actually asked an provide something from a peer reviewed journal? -

Do you understand that, in the UK the speed due to the Earth's rotation isn't anything like 1000 MPH, it's about half that? -

I think this is the point at which trolling became the only credible explanation -
This is a slightly absurd subject but the two passages are talking about separate things. 11-17 refer to "This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby." and, for comparison, here's what to do in the nearby cities (handily identified by the residents at the time) "However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you" And that's clarified by the reason "Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods," So, the Plan is "Wipe out the unbelievers in the nearby cities " but just enslave the women and children in the others and steal their stuff. Nice group of people.

I'm just airing my ignorance here, but what accuracy can you get with a sextant (in good conditions)? For example, let's assume you can put the rig down on the sea bed so it stops moving and you have good visibility of the sun (and the stars if you want to wait till night time) but you can't see land to use that as a guide.
-
I don't mind only having one question. Imagine I want to ask the 3 questions listed above I can ask them one question. What do you get if you add up one if your are on medication and two if you have had other visions and four if anyone saw you? The answer will be a number between 0 and 7 from which I can deduce the replies to the original questions. Unfortunately that doesn't really help me with the other question I'd like to ask which is. What evidence can you offer to prove to someone else that you witnessed God?

If you can not influence your chance of winning (and nor can anyone else) then it is fair. Also, as far as I can see, you don't have access to the information you would need to do the timing you speak of. How do you know how many cards the other players in other games have played?

From http://www.blacklightpower.com/wp-content/uploads/presentations/Copeland%20December%202012%20Report.pdf "As reported in my May 28, 2012 validation study, on November 30th, I witnessed careful assembly of three closed CIHT cells supplied with H2O vapor entrained in an inert (argon) carrier gas as the only mass input. The cells were run under an intermittent electrolysis condition to provide hydrogen at the anode and oxygen at the cathode. One test cell was comprised of a pre-oxidized porous nickel cathode, LiOH-LiBr-MgO electrolyte, and a pressed porous nickel anode. Two other test cells used a molybdenum (Mo) anode or a Mo alloy (Haynes 242). The startup of the cells and data collection setup was also witnessed. Initial data indicated that all three cells showed excess energy production during discharge compared to the energy input during short charge pulses. " which can be summed up by saying that nickel rusts. "No readily recognized reaction is expected to occur at the electrodes or the electrolyte that could produce the observed electrical energy." Nope, like I said, there's perfectly plausible reaction that could be providing the electricity seen. Especially when you see how little power they are talking about "Albeit these first generation CIHT cells served as a proof of principle of the breakthrough new source of electricity, the power density was low, about 0.2 mW/cm2 and correspondingly, the cell power was low, about 2-3 mW." Why do you provide resumes? Got anything that's peer reviewed? -
"So that means that to determine the depth of water you would have to know the time and tide tables and perform calculation." Or swing the lead. If this http://gpsinformation.net/main/altitude.htm is right then the specification for how well it can judge altitude (15M) is bigger than the tidal range practically anywhere.
-
Last time I used GPS it gave altitude WRT mean sea level (though not very accurately).

Yes you are. Specifically, you made this up "The point been that history, already defines a second equal to 0.288 mile, because this how time was originally measured,". It was originally measured using a sundial (pace Studiot) and that wasn't going to be big enough to measure seconds. There was no aspect of those sundials that was anything to do with 0.288 miles. -
But I know the rule for "the number which comes after x is..." And I know that for an infinite number of values of x
-
The shuffle is designed to do that. What is the problem? Here's a "cut to the chase" question. Could you use this issue to cheat and increase your chance of winning? (Note that all other players can do what you propose to do).

"The point been that history, already defines a second equal to 0.288 mile, because this how time was originally measured," Nope, it defined it as a sixtieth of a sixtieth of a twenty fourth of a day. Specifically, this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ab%C5%AB_Ray%E1%B8%A5%C4%81n_al-B%C4%ABr%C5%ABn%C4%AB defined it. "points on the earth will have a different amount of time in one solar day." Thanks to relativity they will. No change in units or definition will sensibly help with that. "I know you now use the atomic clock, but the second on the atomic clock is equal to a second on a clock which is equal to 0.288 mile," Nope, where I live I only travel about half that far in a second. You really need to stop making stuff up. -

It hardly warrants the title of "Maths" but the Earth is about 25000 miles in circumference and rotates once in 24 hrs So the tangential speed is 24859/24 miles per hr that's near enough 0.288 miles per second. so you could use it to define the second. (how long it takes a point on the equator at sea level to move 0.288 miles) But, of course, that only applies at the equator at sea level. And it varies (for any given place on earth) with the tides etc. So it's a strange choice for a definition of the second since it's almost impossible to realise and it changes as the earth speeds up and slows down. It would be absurd to use it for precision measurements (you would need to have a set of conversion tables for how long a second was, for each data and place). It's a bit like the looking glass definition of viscosity: "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.". -

Is it possible (and reasonable) for the OP's statement "half only have the maths skills of a child leaving primary school." to be correct without a significant change in teaching at 2ry school compared to 1ry school? -

Your "maths" is nonsense. It isn't even dimensionally correct. Do you see how posting gibberish isn't the same as providing evidence? -

John Cuthber replied to studiot's topic in Science Education
As adults, after leaving 2ry school, they "only have the maths skills of a child leaving primary school". If they learned stuff in 2ry school they would have better maths skills than a child leaving primary school. Half of them didn't have better skills, so half of them didn't learn maths in 2ry school. -
Is that equally true for all players (in the long run)? If so,how is it unfair?

An alternative would be to justify the roughly 25 Palestinians killed for each Israeli? Does anyone think they are somehow 25 times less valuable? Is that "proportionate"?
