Devision by Zero, and Devision by Infinite

Will do, AntiMagicMan. oh, wait.. I'll have to pass through all the schools... err... remind me sometimes in the late 23rd century, when I have the time. ~moo -
Demon -- err, doesn't that stand against everything you believe in? (not meant as insult, true wonder..) if you lived forever you couldn't get to "afterlife" and so on... just wondering. About me, I'd never take that pill. I want to live long, but there's a time for everyone... living forever, knowing you'll never die -- that sounds like its something that turns someone COMPLETELY insane. Think about it.. you have nothing to fear of, anymore. NOTHING. Well, other than perhaps bullets from a gun... but still.. I don't know. I would definately want to make life longer, but not forever. Other than that, it really does stand against everything I believe in because it means evolution would get COMPLETELY screwed, and nature (as it always does) will probably "find" a way to balance itself. Or ruin humans.. hwatever is easier If people never die, there's no regeneration and evolvement of the species. That's not good... That's my feeling about this. ~moo

Devision by Zero, and Devision by Infinite

I'm sorry to say, but I hate math i like physics a lot more... but that might have a lot to do with the fact i don't KNOW a lot of advanced maths. So take my words about maths with causion anyways, thanks guys!! that's... a lot clearer now. It sounded so weird before, and you just put it into perspective again. I just wonder why they teach that 1/0=infinite and 1/infinite=(-)infinite in schools. Very weird... Thanks!! ~moo -
Uhm okay. It's not easy to get to Gamma. It's also not something you would gain dramatically by doing. You can get powerful effects on your body (through subconsciousness) with reaching deep alpha and deep beta too. As I said, I'm doing self-hypnosis meditation. I've reached gamma ONCE. And I'm not sure about that either. I think I have because of the effects I felt while meditating (it was unbelievable). I think it's (like all psychological things) a lot to do with concentration. hope I answered your question I'm going to try and find more links about this specific meditation technics, so you might be able to test it out yourselves and see what I mean. Take into account it takes practice... it might be "weird" at the first few times. You're supposed to get relaxed and deeply concentrated. Time and Practice, gets your subconscious used to this... and then it's unbelievable. I'm barely taking pills - even headache pills - I just do self-hypnosis. It works. ~moo

Sorry for the perhaps very stupid question, but doesn't the queen ant have wings? No meaning to upset you guys by raising more difficulties, but that may add a difficulty if you find her and need to catch her... ~moo

And moneypoo (uhhhhh I mean mooeypoo) is HER. Nice to meet ya, Kevin Don't take it too personally. You couldn't have known ~moo

No problems I have to stress though - i wouldn't treat this as a complete "fact"... I don't want to mislead you or something. The entire thing of hypnosis and self meditation hypnosis and such, is quite a "not proven / broken facts" subject. Since this is entirely (or mostly) psychological, there are a zillion views on the matter. I gave you the one I believe in. I didn't invent it, but it's not the only one out there Many beliefs, many views, I just gave you one I know is used quite broadly in the "hypnosis field".. But there are more sides to this ~moo

There are basically three main stages in the mind's.. uhm... "function" or however you want to reffer to it. Alpha - complete wake, your entire body is waken and your senses are "on", while your subconscious is "closed". Beta - Halfway between full sleep and full awake. This stage is USUALLY the stage you start remembering your dreams at night even when you don't control them) Gamma - Full relaxation of the body. The muscles are relaxed, the senses are "off" and the subconsciousness is open. You can devide these basic levls to sublevels. Like there are stages in self hypnotic that you can reach "deep alpha", or "shallow betta" and such. But basically, those are the levels. You guys should really try guided meditation. It's another word for Self Hypnosis. And it works, specially against pain and such. If you have a headache, it can solve (the symptom, of course... if oyu're dehydrated you should still drink, hypnosis or not hope that helped .. ~moo

The best "hypnotics" (its not really hypnotic but.. well.. its similar) is something that's called "Guided Meditation". Try downloading one from Kazaa or something. You should try it once Its really good, if you concentrate and allow yourself to relax. ~moo

Another thing, in response to some idiotic beliefs in "hollywood-movies-hypnosis" -- The only reason you see hypnosis linked so much with those pendulums and weird spirals is because that tends to RELAX the mind, and help a person concentrate. I can also tell you to count from 100 to 1 and it'll have the same effect, if you want to be "hypnotized". ~moo

This is a VERY VERY broad explanation, and I don't pretend to be a psychologist. It's just a few very general stuff about the subject to help you understand things. If anyone wants to correct me, feel free. I'm writing what I know. The mind is "functioning" on a few levels. Basically, when you're awake, your subconsciousness is relatively blocked, which means you can't access it regularly, while when you're asleep (truely asleep, that is. Some people can't reach taht state truely), your entire body is relaxed, and your subconsciousness is "open" to communicate with your consciousness. That's what they say about dreams. You know when you have a problem people tell yuo "Sleep on it"? that's the reason. It's a common belief that when you're sleeping, your mind is solving problems in your subconsciousness, even if you don't know they're bothering you. It doesn't mean that if you don't know the answer to 1+1 you will when you sleep on it - it does mean that if you are confused about something, or can't decide, your mind will try to show you what you "truely" want in your subconsciouesness, and that way solve the tension that usually accompanies such worries. Now, in hypnosis, the point is to bring the mind to that "Subconscious" level in a WAKEN mode. Why? So you will be able to actually control what you want to see, and actually CONSCIOUSLY feel and experience that "communication" between your conscious mind and your sub conscious. Hypnosis depends greatly on the person's willingness to participate, since it includes a lot of psychological sides to it. No, if someone tells you "You're a chicken!" while in hypnosis, you will not walk around cwacking. It doesn't work liek that, because your brain has natural "safety" mechanisms that prevents that from happening. The mind CAN be lead to different things though. Like, I've heard of a case a young woman was being treated at a hypnotherapist that was certain she was raped by her father. It wasn't true, but during the sessions (it's not clear if that was intentionally or not, not that it matters) the hypnotherapist appearantly lead the young woman to believe that the person that touched her was indeed her own father. So it's really ... "gray" zone. I've never heard of anyone that went through hypnotherapy without his will. It's psychological, you need to agree and accept it. On the other hand, you also need to be careful. Ther'es a reason the subconsciousness is SUB conscious. Hope I helped on that one. I'm practicing "Self-Hypnosis Medication" techniques since I'm 3 years old. You don't know how helpful that can be ~moo

Egh. Maybe you should order them by mail anyways.... That's frustrating.. how can someone get ants WITHOUT ordering by mail? there's GOTTA be a solution to this... Err.... take a pack of chocolate and try to lure them? I'm clueless. ~moo

atiny: it's true that the form of the story is a bit "obvious" but I am talking more of the THEORIES inside the book. Those are the reason why I concider him to be a genious.

I'm just amused with the things you can order by mail these days...
-
Yeah I always thought that is the best way to do that ... ehh... well unless you want princess ant (royalty or something ) and then you probly should order them. It's fun collecting them though. Good luck by the way, let us know how things go with your tiny city ~moo
-
oh my god, like by mail!?? WOW. I had no idea they do that... where are the times kids went outside with a cup and collected the ants... eh... I wonder if they ship those overseas... ~moo p.s: I seriously didn't know you ship those things. No pun intended, and it wasn't meant to make fun of anyone. This is a true surprised post. Perhaps next time I'll add more and faces. ~moo

I loved the way it shattered the common beliefs about viruses and biological organizms. Their adaptions to heat, climates and so on.. anyone knows if Crichton has any kind of science degree? or phylosophical one, at least..? it sounds like it with his books. He has amazing phylosophical theories.. ~moo

It's a psychological fact (as any other psychological fact). I will have to search for the source, but even if it's not claimed to be a fact, Its still something I strongly believe in. I have NEVER seen anyone break this. You're right though, I'll try my best to find the source, I've known this for a while and I will have to search hard for the precice origin of this fact. Also, take into acount that almost nothing in psyhology is extremely "proven fact". Most psychological facts are proven because nothing else has shattered them. (much like in general science ) I'll get back to you on this one though, when I find it.. ~moo

Demonsthenes: I'm the LAST person to tell you soemthing is impossible, so I wont but I will say that if you find a way to make brain cells grow (hell, even without precice control) you'll get really famous, really fast, and you end up being called whatever you want. ~moo

Speaking of Crichton in the context of wonderful scientific theories and screwed up movies - the amazing book SPHERE. I adored "The Andromeda Strain." AMAZING book, wonderful, brilliant theories in science. He's a genious imo. ~moo

I adored the next generation, but I loved DS9 also. It had the perfect balance of action and drama - and many really kewl episodes about the emotional aspect of things , more than any other startrek series ~moo

Hi, First of -- I am not a methematical person, so if I understood the entire thing wrong, I'm sorry in advance. We all know what we learned since we're relatively young: division to zero is infinite. A friend of mine told me his teacher said that if you devide something in infinite, you do not get zero, you get (-) infinite. WHAT!?!? Auhm, well if you said that PHYSICALLY, I could understand, but, isn't mathematics built on straight rules ..? if 1/0 = infinite then mathematically 1/infinite = 0 Assuming I actually understood correctly, and that his teacher is not an idiot, could anyone please explain what is going on in that equasion? That entire thing of devision in infinite and division in zero is not something i could completely understand.. If I got it all wrong, I'm sorry, just.. err.. please tell me Thanks! ~moo
