  1. Ah awsome so if when I request a PHP page I get the HTML source, then the php is safe. I shouldn't be afraid to put userpass inside my db params.. Kewl, thanks heaps Sayonara
  2. I didn't get it.
  3. Ah. Any ways of checking that to make sure? Like check if there's a "leak" ?
  4. Actually quite a good one hehe makes sense.
  5. I didn't thnk about the genetic deseases, yeah. but what Glider said in his point was exactly my question, I meant like what would be the effects of not being "menaced" by deseases in the long run. So basically - in the long run - deseases are good for humanity. That's can actually raise some extremely difficult questions :\ ~moo
  6. okay kewl -- a friend of mine just happened to know a few things I wrote inside the php files code-wise so I was wondering if maybe my code wasn't very secure. Probably he was just playing games with me... I'll kick his ass anyways for making me worry like that ;p Thanks guys!! that was very helpful. ~moo
  7. Ahhhhhhh that makes more sense (the "carrying all the eggs a women will ever have" part) kewl, okay now it makes more sense. Though, still, I don't get why biologically the differences between male reproduction and female reproduction are so different. Maybe because the male is "throwing" around his sperm (in nature, animals do it all the time) in an attempt to fertilize as many females as possible, while females are the "picky" (also, from what I gather its the same with animals) ones who need to actually MAKE the 'best possible child'... or yeh something like that... if that makes any sense. About your question, I have no idea but it sounds true... good one, I'd like to hear an answer too ~moo
  8. I'm Moriel <waves frantically>
  9. Okay, this is a bit theoretical but it seemed like the best way to put it. Theoretically, if we could have shielded ourselves COMPLETELY against outside menaces like viruses and deseases, do you think we would be healthy "forever", or would we develop some other sorts of medical problems to "compensate" ? Aren't deseases also a way that natural selection (bad word but... err.. you know what I mean) operates? The question comes because on the "Live Forever?" thread in the forum Cap'n Refsmmat mentioned that we don't live forever MAINLY because of deseases. But maybe it also has to do with evolution and nature? We all know about the "natural selection" of evolution, the question is will it come to bite us back even after we shield ourselves from desease... ?
  10. hehehe well i guess if you find your answer i'll just have to reverse it and find mine ;p Let meknow, by the way. I actually think (a friend of mine said so) that php is relatively easy to download from the server - hence my fear of being "robbed" of my db. anywas, hah ~moo
  11. Man, I BEG YOU PLEASE When you use quotes -- COPY PASTE my words, don't quote your own interpretation as my words. Its UNTRUE, extremely biased and totally unfair. PLEASE please don't insert YOUR WORDS into MY MOUTH. Thankyou. Now, about your statements: Too bad you don't WANT to evolve, you're going to anyways. Actually, not exactly "you" -- but your kids, and grand kids and great great grand kids and great great GREAt great grand kids and so on. It's nature. It's also happening today. YOU are extremely different than the people that lived 100 generations ago. Not to mention to biblical humans. It just happens, you don't need to agree to go through that process. You keep throwing "our purpose" sentences. I don't think I ever talked about humanity's purpose. I actually don't believe science is asking that question of "what is our purpose" because it tends to be a bit empty. It doesn't quite matter humanity purpose, if ANYTHING - what matters is the individual's own purpose, and then it's not humanity anymore anyways. What does important in science is *less* the "WHY" it's more the "HOW" which on MANY occasions this is the big difference between scientific thinking and religious thinking. I am agnostic. I won't tell you what you believe in is wrong, because I don't believe a personal truth CAN be wrong, I *will* tell you though that you are using sentences that are not explanations, nor they are logical. They are also EXTREMELY tautological. If we'd go by your statements, our discussion would look more like "Yes it is!!! / No, it isn't!!! / YES!!!!! / NOOOOO!!!! / yes yes yes yes yes!!! / no no no no no!!" and so on. They're tautological and PERSONAL and therefore hard to discuss, not because they're not true (whatever is your personal truth is your own truth!) but because they're not SCIENTIFICAL. I could also tell you I believe we were made by a higher power to be pawns in their chess game. You can either believe it or you don't, the fact is - you can't REALLY argue about it because it is tautological. Any question you will ask will give you a dead-end answer like "because the gods are bored" or "because these are the god's moves" or "now god black-pawns is winning". It's TAUTOLOGICAL. Impossible to debate, and impossible to deny *and* impossible to prove. Perhaps if you BASE your statement on logic, you'll get more answers - or perhaps convince people you are right. Either way, I would need a WHOLE LOT MORE than a "we are here to do this and this period." sentence in order to start changing my life and believing. Sorry, but that's my view of things. ~moo
  12. I actually agree about the fact this should be in pseudoscience. Other than that, you're explaining a concept that appears in the string theory.. only... err... can you support your theories on a little bit of science? I don't get where this entire thing is even REMOTELY theoretical and possible... maybe I got you wrong? try to explain further please. ~moo
  13. Hi, question: in order to connect to a mySQL db through PHP i need to supply username and password. Is there *any* way you could think of to prevent people from downloading those php pages? 'cause i know that if they click "view source" they only get the HTML without php but I am not 100% sure that those php files CANNOT be downloaded. Which actually means that if anyone downloads my php source page - i'm screwed and my DB is open to hacks. Anyone has any ideas how to prevent that? ~moo
  14. It explains why eggs are harder to make than sperm, which (being a female) this sounds obvious. Or, well I'd like to think it's obvious, concidering the "troubles" us girls go through to get the damn egg The think is that if indeed eggs are HARDER TO MAKE then I still don't understand why nature made females start manufacturing them SINCE BIRTH (or even before) if it's OBVIOUS it's not needed until AT LEAST puberty. Plus, it's a known fact that females have a relatively small amount of eggs for their entire life - so it now sounds even less reasonable that nature would START manufacturing those small amount of eggs at such young and non-needed age of the girl. But thanks, it helped me realise what that "making" process requires ~moo
  15. Okay... uhh.. Probably for another discussion..
  16. I actually liked them. I wasn't 100% convinced but it sounds like a plausible theory. It kindof fits - explaning the phenomenas on the universe pretty well.
  17. It sounds logical, but still -- if it's easier to make sperm than egg, shouldn't the effect be the other way around? Males starting to produce sperm from birth and females only starting from puberty?
  18. Well I will do that out of curiousity, but if he's having anything to do with creationism I don't REALLY think I have to actually look him up to form a general opinion.... thanks, though.
  19. The universe is not really a bubble, its just existing in multiple dimentions that MIGHT make it "twist" on itself - either like a bubble, a string, or a ball. And that's the point of the theory, that's where it's coming from. At least from what I gathered. From my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong), then assuming the presense of wormholes is impossible without relying on this specific theory. By the way, Pinch, you should really watch those movies alt posted for me - they are EXTREMELY helpful in understanding this even if you don't support the theory itself. ~moo
  20. Yeah. Excellent Cool, thanks !!
  21. Well naturally girls are only fertile when they start to have periods, that wasn't suposed to be my question but it was MY MISTAKE I used the wrong word. Fertilize shouldn't be the word... The question should be more of - why girls have eggs from such a young age, while buys start to have sperm only in puberty (at least thats what I underrstood from that movie, correct me if i'm wrong...)
  22. Okay I lost you. Let's get back to frogs instead of people, to make it simpler. The frog is "flying" over the device - levitating - I thought that means the em is repelling it's body... doesn't it?? And if it does - then it SHOULD repel other - smaller - molecules, like present in the air... Am I wrong?
  23. Yah.. ow So basically if I can create a big enough device I can just jump on it and fly. True? And.. just something I thought about now... if that device is "repelling" me - it probably does any other mollecule, right? So basically is it safe to assume there will be less air close to the device itself?
  24. It floats a frog!!! Seriously?! Wow. Awsome. That would also electrecute me to death, though, won't it?
