  1. Is this a riddle or are you laying out credentials?
  2. ! Moderator Note Personal attacks and condescending attitude not only will not get you anywhere, they will serve for nothing other than to expedite your exit. I recommend you read our rules and start debating more politely. Not to mention that this attitude doesn't do much to get your points across.
  3. Do you really think you don't have homosexuals in the military? Also, do you guys really think that the fact "Don't ask don't tell" policy will be cancelled means that all the gay soldiers will come out of the closet with tutu skirts and start hitting on their man friends? really? People's seuxality is their own business. This change in policy just means that they don't have to be afraid to be outed by someone else (which HAPPENS A LOT) and getting kicked out. Also, this policy means that gay bashings will be included on the list of hate crimes in the army, just like crimes against women and crimes against african americans, etc. It will give the people who ALREADY ARE in the army more protection. I don't get what people are so afraid of.
  4. Well, it works in other countries in the world quite well. Fact is, soldiers don't CARE about those things when they're in combat - they care about whether or not they can trust their comerade. When the USA integrated african americans in the army, no one asked "are you comfortable". Nor did anyone ask the soldiers if they're comfortable with women in combat. Soldiers do as they're told, and are more adult than the people asking these questions. There are many examples of GREAT armies that don't have these "restrictions" and operate just fine. Without asking their soldiers. Or caring what they might think for the first few months. \ You integrate blacks and women in the army because it's the right thing to do, not because soldiers didn't mind. ~moo
  5. This is very simple; mainstream accepted science is proven and has proper scientific references. Your claims should be accompanied by references and peer reviewed evidence. Speculation isn't purgatory, it's a subforum for things that are speculative. There's nothing wrong with it. And I can assure you that threads are not being closed because they're speculative. Threads are being closed when the member is - for whatever reason - not cooperative; either refuses to participate in a coherent conversation or abuses logical fallacies, or ignores claims, or participates in circular claims. I suggest you read our rules, you might have those happen less. ~moo
  6. Yes he is, and judging from the fact that you're making a speculation and not a validated *MAINSTREAM* science, speculation is where this thread will stay. It's your choice if you want to keep discussing it. Challenging the moderation decision of staff will not help you. ~moo
  7. Yeah, You can see Jupiter today without much trouble if you just try. Considering the fact that there was much less light pollution back in those days and that people were still fascinated by the stars (and FOLLOWED them), it's really not all that surprising they saw planets. You can see Jupiter without using a telescope. And Venus too. And Mars. It's not that surprising. That said, I'm not sure I understand how you jump to the conclusion that Horus eye is Jupiter. They drew an eye - an Egyptian eye, with the eyeliner et all. Incidentally, there's another natural phenomenon that looks like an Eye.. those things happen often, you know - random patterns that seem like common objects. Specifically when the pattern of an eye is not very complicated. I've seen the very familiar pattern of an eye in tree trunks, too. Does that mean the ancient Egyptians adored redwoods before they saw any? ~moo
  8. The new skype installs a browser add-on that sometimes shows phone numbers as a clickable skype button with a "Call this number on skype". I can't know for sure without seeing these comments, but it might be that the addon thinks some random number is a phone number and displays this button. I wouldn't call them
  9. If we know what it is, doesn't that make it an identified object, and hence not a UFO ?
  10. It always struck me as odd, this "fine tuning" argument. I have no problems accepting the idea that something fine tuned the universe - there's no way of testing this, and there's no reason to accept (or not accept) it at all. It is just irrelevant, honestly. But even *if* something fine-tuned the universe, then what? Our universe quite obviously doesn't support human life (you need special equipment to live only a few kilometers above ground), has an abundance of black holes and radiation, has lots of quirks and weirdness in it (the biology of the human being is only one of them), that the conclusion seems to be that whoever fine-tuned out universe was either incompetent, or didn't care much for humans, or was purposefully malicious. Even looking just at the human physiology makes this clear - the fact that our waste management system is the same tubing as our procreation system is either a huge practical joke on behalf of the designer, or a tremendous blunder. It causes so many potential problems that it is quite hard to define it as a proper design. So even if we do claim that things were fine tuned, I don't quite see how it helps us any. ~moo
  11. Why noobs shouldn't ask random science questions in #blackcobalt: (violett) hi (violett) if a fridge is 365 litre... approx how many cms high would it be? (@Moled) 52.3 ••• qUit: (violett) (78108ce8@blackcobalt.web.irc) Ping timeout: 240 seconds (@mooZzZzZzZz) ...
  12. Moved to Computer Help.
  13. I want one too, if only to pretend he's always agreeing with me. What do you think, swansont? <nod nod nod nod nod> We should totally start selling those in our online store: http://www.bobblemaker.com/james-bond-custom-bobble-head-2
  14. I'm still waiting for a step-by-step video.
  15. ninus maximus was suspended for a week for trolling and bad attitude.
  16. Alright, enough. Seems like the crappy attitude is infectious. This thread is going nowhere, and this attitude is unacceptable.
  17. You can doubt all you want, that doesn't change their credentials, or the lack of yours. In any case, that's not the point, the point is the attitude, which is still condecending and trolling, and is against the rules. You came to this forum, and you will follow our rules or you will not stay here. It really is pretty simple. ~moo
  18. ninus maximus, in this forum, we respect one another. You came to us, I suggest you drop the condescending attitude and debate nicely, or you will not stay here. I would also be careful challenging people's credentials and argue the claims, instead. When a group of PhDs in math and physics all tell you that your claims are wrong, then perhaps you need to reconsider your own level of knowledge. ~moo
  19. Isn't 'application' hint that you 'applied' it? Applied.. as opposed to theoretical....?
  20. Just a point about this -- this isn't application. Application would be to send an actual ship and record the observation on a spreadsheet and then compare the numbers to the known theory. What that spreadsheet does is uses the known mathematics to produce numbers. It can be wrong, or it can use wrong equations, or it can misunderstand the theory, and a whole slew of possibilities that would make these numbers plainly irrelevant. That wouldn't happen if the ship was real and the spreadsheet was a recording of actual observation -- which would make it into a practical application of Relativity and not a theory. ~moo
  21. Fication, please don't post duplicate posts. One thread about a question is enough. ~moo
  22. (un)fortunately, Israel is held to different standards than the rest of the countries in the Middle East.
  23. Did they accept your idea?
  24. Very badly, probably. On that note, though, their plan will serve nothing other than start a war, really. Israel eased up the blockade, and released a plan to be a bit more transparent: http://www.israelpolitik.org/2010/06/21/israels-updated-gaza-strip-policy/ Also, this is an interesting interview with tony blair: http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=179110 Anyone thinking of organizing an aid flotilla for Gaza should instead utilize the legitimate existing land crossings, where Israel is now lifting restrictions on civilian goods, Quartet envoy Tony Blair said on Monday. “If we implement this policy so that the things that people are trying to bring in by flotilla you can bring in through the legitimate existing crossings, do it that way,” Blair urged in an interview with The Jerusalem Post. “That is the more sensible way to do that,” he said, amid reports that one or two ships may seek to sail from Lebanon to challenge the naval blockade in the next few days.
