Odd question: would removal of a thyroid cause odor
susu replied to Hades's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Removal of the thyroid gland should not cause any smell. I am going to reply to this post under the assumption that "odd smelling"= foul smelling, and not the smell of roses... Well, any malodor post surgery should alert one to a possible source of infection or infectious process. It does not necessarily have to be in the area of surgery itself, but could be localised in a nearby area... So, what i wud do is go c the doctor and tell him/her about the odor, and if it turns out to be a case of bad breath, then one hasnt lost anythin but a bit of time, but if turns out to be infection or some other thing, then one might have saved him/herself future complications.. -
I think the hazards of drunk driving are too easily forgotten. Perhaps if u knew some1 who was killed by a reckless drunk driver, then one wouldnt hesitate to get the police involved. A drunk driver is a drunk driver, no matter how old he/she is, which means he/she carries the risk of seriously harming him/herself and others. Suspending the girls may, or may not have lead them to think twice about such an act, but if the authorities were called, then i am almost sure that they would have thought more than twice about doin anything like this again. If the girls believed they were "mature" enough, or "old enough" to be drinking and driving, then they should be old enough to deal with the consequences of getting caught. Im assuming that no caring parent wants to see their child go to jail, but then again, i dont think any parent wants to see their child murdered by a drunk driver, no matter how "cute" they may have been. I am in total support that the police shouldve gotten involved. My only hope is that these girls dont repeat drunk-driving, and end up hurting anyone; including themselves.

Wonder if ur mother wanted u?? Perhaps she didnt and the only reason she kept u was becoz she was anti-abortion... now idolator; what wud the world be without a man who refers to the termination of a pregnancy as "flushing down the toilet.." ??

Germany. Next word: hunger

f(24). I am prochoice in the sense that i believe its a womans decision whether she sud have an abortion or not.. As to whether I woul do it if faced with a pregnancy i wasnt ready for, then i dont know. Right now i think that i wud keep the baby no matter what; even if i was raped. But it is a completely different story when one is actually faced with the situation.. As a medical student I have had to be present at many abortions, and I can assure you that its not a pleasant situation. However, giving birth to an "unwanted" child, who is given up for abortion and ends up psychologically disturbed as a result of movin from one foster home to another is also not a pleasant situation. Women have to live with the choices they make, and i only hope that careful thought is put into any decision that is undertaken...

U have got to be kiddin me. U wanna starve urself bc u think its "cool", cause all the rave guys are doin it????lol. Hav u ever stopped to think that maybe the reason why the rave guys r so thin is because they might be on drugs?? Im not sayin all rave guys r druggies, just that it is a possibility. I find it hilarious that u take ur role models to be anime. U do know that another human actually drew them and theyre not real right? That is their vision of characters they think will appeal to the public and make them rich. Oh, about starvation. Ur body runs mainly on carbs, which it gets from food. If u dnt eat, u dnt supply ur body with the energy it requires to do daily activities like walking. I wonder why ure doin an experiment on something the effects of which can be seen in millions of people worldwide. Ironic isnt it that they would die for a morsel of food, and u would die to accomplish ur desire to be thin. The vitamins ure takin do nothing to supply u with energy. So they r not helpful in metabolic processes. They r merely supplements to some of the bodies' functions. Once ur body has used all its carbohydrate supplies, it will turn to protein and fat. Thus ull lose weight, but ull lose muscle too. So, ur metabolic rate will be slower cz u have nothing to run on, ull be weak coz ur muscle mass has decread, and u wont be able to concentrate properly bc ur brain, as an organ requires energy to run. Energy that u r not supplying. Oh, and the huge breasts u c on the anime must be silicon coz breasts are mainly fat, so theyll eventually go too. Im not sayin this will happen overnight, but there r many longterm irreversible side effects of starvation that i cant go into now. <sure its ur life, and sure u can do what u will to it, its just a shame that u take something so many people r struggling with and suffering from so lightly. There is a reason why we eat- to survive.

it is possible that a second twin was missed if the mother has a bicornate uterus. I have seen abortions being performed before, and from my experience i find it highly unlikely that the procedure in a "normal" unicavity uterus would not result in any injury to the second unaborted twin. I would logically assume that if somehow (although not plausible) the twin were to survive, it would be completely healthy..

I have an equal interest in all sciences so i opted to do medicine. Im now in my last year of university and dont regret my choice for a second. I am however still contemplating as to what I should specialise in.. The choices dont end once youve picked what to study. I cannot make suggestions on what YOU should study, because its not me who's gonna be studyin it. I can only offer u advice from my own experiences and that is to do something u WANT to do, something that when it gets really tough u wont just pack up and quit. Good luck!

I guess being human beings theyre just tired of fighting for a cause thats not "theirs" in a war that seems to have no end. What can a government ask of its people except to "support"?

I agree. We all age differently. What applies to one person may not apply to another. However; its probably a useful aid in finding people missing for many years.

lol! thats probably the only good question asked on this thread

Solution: dont think about your legs! -
I think the reason for the protests is beyond the cartoons.I dont believe violent acts can be attributed to someones religion. A person doesnt become aggressive BECOZ they are muslim. Has anyone stopped to think that maybe these acts have nothing to do with religion? Or why these people are so angry? Also regarding Bettina`s title of "savages", to the violent protesters: I dont think calling them savages is going to help create bridges between diff cultures or religions, do you? Jus beoz you might not manifesting your emotions with physical acts; doesnt make you any less savage than them. I dont think anyone who bases their views on islam or muslims solely on what is presented in the media has a right to judge. How many people have actually bothered to find out what Islam really is before labelling acts as "islamic"?

we all hav sleepless nites once in a while. Stress, anxiousness, mood all play part. If your inability to sleep occurs often, or is prolonged, then there might be an underlying medical condition and its probably better to see a doctor. Otherwise js try to relax before goin to bed; i find takin a long bath before bed helps. I also agree with gcol´s relaxation technique, ive used it many times and it does help.
