I think that the fact that this president belives to be seeing lights from heaven and signals that Mahdi is going to come back is affecting the politics. It's not just a speculation, scientifically he is hallucinating or is dellusional and this to me sounds like a phsycological problem. The president truely belives that his dellusions are signs from the heavon or what not. This puts the entire world to danger becuase this president could make harmfull decisions based on his personal beliefs and dellusions which also affects the decisions and choices that his followers make. But if this sounds like speculation, please move it to Pseudoscience or Speculations.

Is Iran's president (Ahmadinejad) mentally ill? ================================================ ==> The Iranian president recalled being told about it by one of his delegation: "When you began with the words ‘in the name of Allah,' I saw a light coming, surrounding you and protecting you to the end." Ahmadinejad agreed that he sensed the same thing. "On the last day when I was speaking, one of our group told me that when I started to say 'Bismillah Muhammad,' he saw a green light come from around me, and I was placed inside this aura," he says. "I felt it myself. I felt that the atmosphere suddenly changed, and for those 27 or 28 minutes, all the leaders of the world did not blink. When I say they didn't move an eyelid, I'm not exaggerating. They were looking as if a hand was holding them there, and had just opened their eyes – Alhamdulillah!" Ahmadinejad is urging Iranians to prepare for the coming of the Mahdi by turning the country into a mighty and advanced Islamic society and by avoiding the corruption and excesses of the West. ===================================================== seeing lights?????? prepare for coming of Mahdi????? I think this man needs some sort of psychological evalutation. Also, i heard some where that Augest 22 is the end of the world because Iran wants to do some type of nuclear thing!!!! How true is this?????

Whats the most painful thing you've ever experienced
pHoToN_gUrL replied to blike's topic in The Lounge
awwwwwwww *hugs* Well, mine are the following: 1. Finger infection. It spread through all my fingers and one finger was really reddish and big...so i went to a doctor and he cut around my nail with a sharp object and i started bleeding and then i passed out...for a while. It was totally grose and very very painful for weeks. 2. When i was a baby, about 2 or 3 weeks old, i fell down from a tall table and hit the ground very hard. I don't remmember the pain, however my chest bone sinked in a bit, and apparently that's how i got my Pectus Excavatum. -
I like most animals, so for me, there is no favourite because i like most of them, excluding insects (ewww). As for meat, i only eat fish. I don't eat beef and chicken because i don't feel its necessory. I would never eat snail and octapus or animals like that because i believe that is totally grose. Here is a list of animals i like: dogs, horses, cats, dolphines, penguins. I like these animals because they are friendly and generally cute. But absolutely dislike aggressive animals, including sharks, snakes, etc. As for insects, i do my best to stay away from them.

How about moving up a small magent, and dropping it in to a very long coil. This creates electricity (current flow), from the gravitational acceleration (gravitational kinatic energy) of the magent, in side the coil. Since the coil has a current inside it, magnetic filed will be created around the coil. This magnetic filed will oppose the pull of gravity on the falling magnet. So the magent will start boucning up and down. This up and down movement of the mass could be used to do mechanical work. I bet this is efficint since we only needed to spend a little enegy moving the small mass (magnet) to the top of the coil. Feedback please.

" If a falling mass could be made to convert its gravitational acceleration into electricity which was then used to create a magnetic field that opposed the pull of gravity, it might be bounced up and down on the repulsion of its own magnetic field. Again a small driver pulse might create a huge displacement of mass that could be put to use doing mechanical work. More advanced units might be constructed like two railguns muzzle to muzzle vertically with a mass bounced between them. If a unit of this type were constructed in a shaft, then a loss of containment at the bottom would drop the mass harmlessly down the shaft while a loss of containment at the top would put a payload in orbit. Imagine putting satellites up by dropping them." taken from ==> http://www.virtualchaos.org/science/free.html

I think this makes sense , but won't you have to move the iron up first and then drop it? which means you need to do work first...so would it be efficient to make electricity this way?
-
what do you mean the amount of gravity depends on forces in connection? gravity IS a force it self, so what's the connection? gravity is significant when massive objects are involved, but the point is that you can't use gravity to do work unless you first store it as potentioal enegry. And the storing process is a work it self so the catch is that the entire process would not turn out to be efficient. But what i am most curious about at this point is that, how would you go about generating electricity from gravity?

Yes, blind people do have dreams. However, those blind since birth or very early childhood have no visual imagery in their dreams. Instead, they experience a very high percentage of taste, smell, and touch sensations in their dreams. The breakdown is as follows: There are no visual images in the dreams of those born without any ability to experience visual imagery in waking life. Individuals who become blind before the age of five seldom experience visual imagery in their dreams. Those who become sightless between the ages of five and seven may or may not retain some visual imagery. Most people who lost their vision after age seven continue to experience at least some visual imagery, although its frequency and clarity often fade with time. ==> taken from :http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/11187 experience of vision first is needed before it can be translated into a dream. Those blind for a lifetime instead experience other keenly developed senses in their dreams--i.e., the sensation of moving around, the emotion of joy, etc. Dream images of the blind instead seem to be reconstructions of objects based on sensory input such as touch and sound, just as occurs in waking life. Some images are constructs based on input from other senses (and on what the dreamer has been told by the sighted about what these objects look like). ==>taken from : http://vision.about.com/od/severevisionloss/f/blinddreams.htm

May be....May be not Ideas are wellcome as long as they are based on scientific facts. To begin with, evil does not sound TOO scientific so may be you should try the another place hun where they accept what ever they hear and won't ask you to prove your point SCIENTIFICALLY.

Gravity can be used as a source of energy but it is not efficient since you have to spend energy to obtain the gravitational potentional energy to begin with. And once the gravitational potentional energy is converted to kinetic energy to do work, some energy is always lost to heat, sound, etc. You can't even obtain the same amount of energy back. But here is some inefficient ways of using gravity to do work: 1. Counterweights allow us to move very heavy objects easily. They do this by offsetting the object's weight, using gravity acting on the counterweight. 2. Falling water, driven by the force of gravity, can be used to turn water wheels and turbines, to grind grain or generate electricity. 3. Many clocks, such as my father-in-law's cuckoo clock, are driven by a system of falling weights. The energy comes directly from gravity.

there is a chart here: http://www.school-for-champions.com/senses/hearpitch.htm based on this chart i think dogs can hear lower frequencies than we can

I heard all this is the beggining of the world war 3. Is this true? ... very scared

I believe there is approximately 30% iranians in Iran who are anti-government and against the leaders. I have no proof, i searched google and asked some persians familiar with politics, they said approximately 30 %.
