The alkyd paint I already have of the chosen color is not available in the high gloss level, and wanted to know if 'glossiness' was an additive.
-
Thanks, gentlemen. To make it clearer, I meant added to the paint product itself, not on top of a painted surface as a 'clear coat' (So it would produce a glossy finish when applied) Not restricted to floors, but to metal machinery, wood, walls... The expert clerk at a paint store had no clue and started to search the web, with no response... 😕

Would passing only ultraviolet light trough a prism onto a 'fluorescent' painted target show if it is of the A, B, C type by the projected angle/deflection?
-
Thanks. Sorry, cannot understand that. Would't the importer and exporter need to be the same 'entity' for that to happen ? If someone in Angola needs yuan to import tools from China and is not exporting the U.S. cattle China wants to pay with yuan, ¿?
-
Hi. What are the global implications if China tosses the U.S. dollar and mandates the yuan is the currency to collect for their export transactions and to pay for their imports ?
-
Greetings. If you have a flat or satin paint; what can be added to make it glossy ?

Thanks, gentlemen. Something I hate surfaced in links... "It is more an art than a science" I was not expecting it with any decorative purpose at all. I thought there would be some defined rules to follow.🙁 Watching some videos, emphasis is in shape and comfort to reach fruit, some about light and air flow. But not much aimed to tree health and fruiting promoting. And would strongly prefer a tutorial about this, from an experienced old fart than a young guy. The "try and wait" sounds as a painful wait of a year to find out irreversible goofing. Will keep investigating... and listening to members...

Hi all. Have a couple of young fruit trees 2-3 metres tall which I have never pruned because it feels to me like the growth achieved in a year would be wasted as 'mutilation' loss, plus unclear how much to prune on which branches. The season I believe proper is winter. Does same tecniques apply to different fruit trees ? Like if they are pear, peach, cherry, apple... Applies equally to all ? What about grape vines ? Seen them being horrendously mutilated by supposedly experts. How much is too much ? Does pruning promote fruiting in young or old or both trees ? Any light will be appreciated.

What does this mean on SFN screen ? Flashed for about two seconds. What terms ? WHY is it left to guess ?

Greetings. This could be in biology, in physics, in other places. Please move as deserved. A proper musical sound is related to a frequency, sometimes called 'on pitch' or 'on tone' or 'tuned'. Do birds 'singing' have a discernible correspondence to the musical frequencies we refer as 'proper pitch' as in human-tuned musical instruments ? Certainly birds may sound melodious and sometimes pleasant, but do their 'musical' notes follow our or any definitions, logic, standards, spacing ? Is there a study if birds have/follow their own fixed scales ? If a species of bird emits an A4 440Hz note right on pitch; do other notes from the same bird obey to the musical scales we may refer as standard melodic , like a A6 then emitted at 1760Hz ? What about other species of birds, do they have a 'standard' ? 😲 Most birds of the same species seem all to be exactly in their pitch. A canary that has never been exposed to the songs of other canaries nor heard/learned from their parents may 'sing' exactly on pitch of a canary from half the globe away... Yes, morphology may be involved too. -Personally, I attribute the singing of birds more actually as a 'barking' territorial/call behavior that happens to coincide near 'our' musical sounds- Edited- added : To say it in other words, can a particular melodious and pleasant 'song' from a bird be accurately played by a normally tuned human musical instrument ?

Excellent study, thanks ! Not much benzenes found after 4 days and little others after 7 days.

Hello all. Commercial poison products I do not use to kill weeds are supposed to fade their action in days/weeks/months ¿? I do the guess that has always worked. Gasoline. -Spank me later- A few drops on the weeds and in hours they are dead. On a guess number too, I believe > 99.5% of it evaporates in minutes, leaving very little on the soil (if the weed transfers it to the soil) Whatever is left in soil; what is it and how long would it remain, with what counterproductive effects ? Lately am using salt water, also vinegar, potassium chloride? ice melt solution along fences.

Was going to take a picture at the tree outside, but found the same on the web... Blooming starting and seed pods still there... (Cercis canadiensis)
-
Thanks, StringJunky. Stratification, scarification, chilling... understood. Will check. I was reading today the instructions to germinate something else... "Collect the pods in autumn, put in the freezer for so long, then moist them... " Doooh ! assuming too much. What if you collect the pods from the tree in March ! They spent the entire winter doing the stratification the natural way, and no brains to consider such by the 'expert' instructions...

Hi. Often, from the "Activity" tab; I get some prompt to join a subject. Such subject that I have never participated, nor from a member I had contact before, nor from my interest at all. Sample : Why the "Reply to this status" shown below ?
-
Hi. If reasonable efforts to germinate seeds result in nothing, is it commonly due to the seeds being from a hybrid plant ? Should that be the reason ? Seeds with zero origin information : Not germinating when following instructions from expert/successful growers-

Hi. Thanks. From unbagging the items brought from the supermarket/pharmacy last shopping day, as an example. And you were very cautious of going shopping without the phone -yes, sure-🥴 -

You just washed your hands again, and you feel like a good person doing it. Immediately you grab the phone on one hand and the tv control on the other, to stay on top of the chats and news as the confinement is too boring. Those items, with all the hand prints and mouth sprays exactly as before washing your hands. What good did washing the hands if everyone has no gonads to live without a phone on your face day and night asking when will this illness chapter end ? Then starting to complain that you ran out of masks and you need to go to the supermarket. The stupid all-disposable habit does not allow to wash or disinfect or dip in acetone, alcohol, whatever the masks, but keep asking when will this illness chapter end ? 😒 -
Hi. Thanks. Would like to mention a product that works very well : And another method I found: Using the adhesive side of adhesive tape, duct tape, any tape to lick/lift the unwanted residue needing removal from an object.

Hi. Two years ago, I bought three styles of respirators, to evaluate installation of microphones for certain projects. Found this one as leftover behind my spider webs ----> https://www.ebay.com/itm/264540251953 And wonder if being for painting, carpentry dust, fumes?... could be used for microorganisms. It only filters during aspiration; at exhale disc valves open freely the flow towards ambient. The filtering cartridges are removable/replaceable ----> If they are soaked in ethanol (and dried!) as for periodic desinfection; would they still be safe ? Same about the coffee filters and other paper/fabric ones if shortage pushes to reuse them.

Greetings, hoping it is a good healthy day for all. Quarantine and isolations appear not reflecting the number of reported new cases. The isolation should work; The quarantine not; because quarantine is a truncated isolation and 'discounted' to fourteen instead of forty days (if any works). The next day after quarantine has elapsed, a person is in the exact risk situation as before day one, if not more as surrounding infected population will be more. If an entire country gets rid successfully of the disease; a single infected person anywhere else in the planet can start it all over again. What are you planning for the moment you get infected, what will be your actions ? Been a pleasure to mingle with you all at ScienceForums BC -before Corona- -

Good day again. A couple more... - What percentage of covir19 infections belongs to the age group of -say under ten years olds- ? if such is known. - Heard from a medical professional : "No need to test if you have influenza, you would hardly get Corona" Can someone explain ? That sent me way back to the years of Interferon... -

Good day to all. A couple more questions... Is it known if a patient that survives this new virus, remains immune to it or can contract it later again ? What happens to donor antibodies on a blood transfusion into the recipient patient ? Die, stay or start renewal/multiplication ?
