Heard about a dozen trees falling, breaking and collapsing in the forest around my house, with a wind, rain and thunderstorm background in the last fifteen minutes. So the trees falling in a forest do make noise even if you do not see them.

Greeks will keep using their euros; new drachmes will fall into deep devaluation to the point of being useless and ignored, except perhaps for minor daily commerce, taxes or giving change to tourists. There is no way a 'printing machine entity' will convince the Greek population to surrender their held euros in exchange of new drachmes. The debt can remain unpaid, their exports/tourism can still collect in euros, imports will diminish. Industry will self focus into more exports production of vessels, wine or whatever they do better. I resided many years in a country were the inflation was fought by also using a parallel US dollar currency for important transactions and matress/foreign savings. The poor went poorer, the wealthy became more. A close friend there advised me to buy US dollars constantly; which I did as much as my paychecks allowed for a decade+. I kept afloat if not actually ahead of average allowing a better future. Inflation in double digits (well over 20%) is a brutal strike against personal progress, and a life of frustration. I think Greeks experienced that before the euro and stays in their retina. Drachmes will not work.

How wrong do you see my inexpert politics view of Greece ? : Young Greeks have and will have difficult times, older Greeks have their mattresses stuffed with money from long lasting easy bonanza, reflecting a near 50/50 division in voting. Both lenders and recipients of financial aids will get wealthier no matter what be the end result of Greece paying or not a debt. Too easy living for too long causes unreal expectations for the future to be even easier.

To heat water from solar, placing the collectors near the need is way better than up on a tower that will need reinforcement to support extra weight, plus will decrease the losses in piping lenghts to surrounding villages. A contributor to obesity is the laziness of people, and the addiction for comfort and pleasure. Laziness... Everyone buys a car only if has electric windows and airconditioner. Pushing a button instead of cranking the window. Not even that little exercise ! And sweating is no-no. Comfort... Check how many people runs in circles in a parking lot looking and waiting for the parking spot nearest to the entrance... of a gymnasium ! Or parking and walking to a MacDonald. Instead, use the drive-in lane. Pleasure... People will not eat foods unless they taste superb, no matter how lean or nutritive a not-so-great flavor be. Eating for pleasure yes; for nourishment no. So, let them be obese.

Like waking up at seven, in an airconditioned house, birds singing by the backyard fruit trees; taking a shower with abundant clean water, having a good coffee, prepare a good breakfast for the kids, watching them walking away to the school bus, compliment the wife under the new burkha, helping her to make a supermarket shopping list, lend her your new car and she drives away for shopping... Get out to mow the very green lawn and tend the garden, pause for the morning prayers, then read the newspaper finding that the last adversary tribe finally fleed or died and will never have to deal with them again... Get to the garage to play with some carpentry pending tasks, as finally that special tool arrived at the mail box together with the last mortgage statement; perhaps a moment or two thinking to advance something on his favorite hobby, then try to fix the clothes washer machine leak... Preparing a meal, taking a siesta... the afternoon prayers... Receiving a visit from old friends and enjoy the evening at a restaurant, later read a book and fall asleep on that comfortable bed by eleven... Is this it ? Would they be happy this way ? What do these people want for their lives ? Can you speculate or if you exactly know it, tell it ?

Acme : To attempt the hybrid, I would modulate FM first. At the final RF amplification stage, the voltage feeding the FM final amplifier can be varied in amplitude by the loudness of the 'second' channel. Could be a simple transformer with its secondary in series with the DC supply, its primary the 'second' (AM) channel. Broadcast FM radio in stereo, can itself put two independent audio signals on the air, plus another channel called subcarrier, plus the 19KHz pilot. Adding AM would make 4 channels in a single radio frequency transmission. Getting into digital, time slicing of the modulation merges several channels by multiplexing. One slice has data/audio from one channel, and the next slice from another, and... keep counting. Like cellular telephony, where multiple users voices are all in the same radio frequency. Am not aware of the hybrid being done/used as digital took over for multichannel transmissions. One single optic fibre carries multiple channels of television, bidirectional internet, voice services, data, telemetry...

Acme : To use an analogy to explain AM and FM; think of a discotheque playing music and its lights varying its luminosity by the audio. They become brighter in louder passages/notes. That is amplitude modulation. Now imagine the lights at a fixed/steady brightness and varying its color at the audio, -Say yellow at silence- Bluer at higher notes, redder at lower notes of the audio. That is frequency modulation. Simoultaneity seems possible, variation in brightness and color; and feeding two different audio programs seems possible; if both detection systems are implemented at the receiver to separate them. There can be some interference as AM can perform what is called 'slope' detection. The circuitry would have to be designed accordingly to avoid 'crosstalk' which is one signal appearing in the other channel causing distortion, and the FM discriminator with a threshold capable of keeping the FM signal captured at all times, probably with AM well under 100% modulation. To start: If you get burned, fire or hot surface, steam or whatever, apply as soon as possible egg whites to the skin area. If dries, keep applying more for a while, pain will diminish. Will not blister nor leave scars and will heal sooner I have confirmed it in minor burns and a major steam burn from a hot automobile radiator venting. Perhaps someone can explain the effect of pure protein. I do not.
