Making tiny bubbles in very alcaline Portland cement ?
Hi. Your headache is back. What chemical compound can be mixed with Portland cement, that when gets wet will generate effervescence of either nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, air, carbon dioxide, whatever other small enough gas bubbles, staying in suspension a while until mix sets/cures creating sort of pumice or aerated concrete ?

Concrete homes more ecologically friendly than stick built?
Hi. If sustainability takes in account abundance of the trees or the quarries to define as building materials, trees have a shorter 'life' as a dwelling than stone/concrete. For the ecological part, deforestation can recover in about a century, quarries scars on mountains will not recover vegetation in a single century. Against earthquakes, wood is flexible; concrete is not. Against insects, concrete does not notice them. Against floods, concrete wins. Against wind, concrete wins. Against fire, concrete wins by far. Thermally, wood wins by far. For each risk in the surrounding environment, there will be a better choice. For cost of heating and cooling, wood wins. What is wrong is using the same standarized construction methods for all the areas of a country without considering availability of materials against natural disasters for that zone... Have lived half my life in first class concrete dwellings overseas and half on wooden + drywall (US style). Felt safer on concrete, deterioration near zero in decades, felt the wood ones easily repairable / modifiable. The thermal part being the most different, depending much on the particular climate as concrete ones appear less efficiently insulable. About cost of materials, cement takes a lot of fossil fuels to manufacture and wood destroys forests, labor intensive to convert trees to houses. Personal skills are important to consider. Many prefer mixing cement or nailing wood when it is time to alter or repair. I would stick to concrete with thermal insulation.

Ranking points ?
Hello. What is points; where do they come from? or is it posts ? What is 9/13 ? A date? And what is 'Retained' ; is that different from rank ? And "Senior" is neither a rank nor a retained nor a 'level'?

What is the cause of inflation? Did Argentina and Venezuela not have out of control inflation?
What is the cause of inflation? The ones that work little or nothing are always in opportunist mode to have it easy doing the least effort. Not in work mode, that takes effort. Politicians are experts in moving their tongues but never had a clue on how to reverse inflation.

Other DNA compounds...
Good day. In addition to GATC , is there other 'filler' compounds lodged between them, and other variations different than sugar phosphate constituting the 'back bone' shown here, or eventual contaminants to the purity of any of these components ?

Nanoplastics from teabags - is it time to go with loose-leaf tea?
It is not the plastics packaging; it is the brainless ignorant idiots that dispose of them without care. And some municipalities like mine that collect separated recyclable bins tossed to the same garbage truck...😢

Freezing plants for preservation ?
Today, found unexpectedly something of this elusive subject by total chance on television. Freezing apple tree branches seems to be happening among other already known things. Only at time stamp 18:20 ---> https://www.americasheartland.org/watch/season-13/?episode=1301- Posting the finding if anyone is interested.

Recycling plastics into fuel...
Hello. What progress has been reached; and hurdles encountered ? Five years ago, someone was into producing fuels via pyrolisis in a humble processing plant in Mexico I believe, getting attention from the media. A few reports along the years, but no signs of real taking off. What do you know ? Is there any contaminating gases or byproducts created from the process ?

Freezing plants for preservation ?
Greetings. Human and animal eggs and sperm are routinely frozen for preservation; and read something about fertilized embryos getting the same treatment. What about plants ? Is there a way ? Can a germinated young plant, or perhaps a grown one, be preserved until a future planting/growing season ? Can annual plants be preserved/suspended from winter death until much later to continue their growth, other than greenhouses * ? I know seed banks keep thousands of varieties frozen for any future needs, but are those non-germinated seeds embryos ? This thread triggered from the uncertainty from a seed to germinate. I see there is no way to assure success to germinate a seed even by the most expert 'green thumbs' * Would an annual plant dying by winter season continue to thrive if transplanted to a tropical weather, or there would be a collision with its genetics from unexpected weather ?

Shifting the solstice date ?
Would it be possible ? If there was an intention to make winter solstice for the northern hemisphere to coincide with December 31, would counting a few years of februarys with 29 or 30 days instead and substracting a day or two to other months for the same few years; then returning to 'normal' when done... Or that would result in the opposite shift direction ? I have a mental fart on it. Is there other hurdles I do not notice ?

Dry gin...
Hi. Rarely find a bottle not saying 'Dry' or 'London' style. Is there a not-dry gin ? Can you make it 'wet'🙄 adding something to it ? Sugar ?

Spinning a cored coil...
Interesting contraption, thanks. If uses air cored coils, generation should increase with an iron core, right ? This thread triggered from inspecting my defunct portable generator that shows no residual magnetism anywhere at all and has no brushes. Wondering if earth magnetism is used as initial development of field excitation... FC= field coil rotor MC =stator main coil SC=stator coil for capacitor PL=pilot lamp

Pulverized leaves as fertilizer helper...
Thank you. That Worx shredder is tempting me for a while now... Do leaves come out like flour or not that fine ?

Spinning a cored coil...
Hello. A coil with a laminated iron core, put to spin... Would it generate some electric current in its windings just because the faint earth magnetism is in the way ? -No permanent magnets involved-

At that Nevada military base...
Nellis? known as area 51; who is the top gun, master chief, six star supergeneral, total ruler, 'god' that does and plans and controls everything with total authority reporting to no one? Is from the Air Force or other branch ? Or is there someone at the Pentagon that controls that 'supergeneral' ? Seems that by ~2011, abruptly or simultaneously, many 4 star generals ceased :

Winning an election with fewer votes ?
U.S. presidential election dictated by the electoral votes. OK. Why, how come, the democracy of an individual state differs its democracy from the United States democracy ? Each state elects their governor (State president with another name?) by popular vote instead of an electoral -county?- votes if the United States is united' ? 😦

That plutonium paperweight on your desk...
Greetings... You have a chunk of plutonium on your desk 🤥. What is the danger ? Is it its thermal emission; its electromagnetic radiowaves emission; other invisible emission; its dust particles emission; poisoning ionizing emission of (α),(β),(γ) rays ? What gets ionized nearby in its presence ? -The word radioactive confused with radiowaves to the public- If that chunk of plutonium on your desk is small as a grain of salt or larger as a golf ball, will it harm you slower or faster ? If that chunk of Pu is embedded in a plexiglas block; does it change anything ? 🤨

Drill bit sharpening angles...
Hello. Did not see suggested or mandatory sharpening angle range to drill concrete/masonry/tiles. What would it be with widia tips ? ============================================================== (Pasted) --- > Drill sharpening angles refer to the angles formed between the cutting edges of a drill bit and the axis of the drill bit. The angles vary depending on the type of material being drilled and the specific purpose of the drill bit. It is important to choose the correct sharpening angle based on the material you are drilling to ensure that you achieve the desired results and prolong the life of your drill bit. Here are some of the most common drill sharpening angles and the materials they are used for: 118-degree angle: This is the most common angle for general purpose drilling in materials such as wood, plastic, and soft metals. 135-degree angle: This angle is used for harder materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, and other metals. 90-degree angle: This angle is used for drilling in soft materials such as leather and rubber. 150-degree angle: This angle is used for drilling in plastics and other similar materials that are prone to melting. 60-degree angle: This angle is used for drilling in harder materials such as hardened steel and other high-strength alloys. 90/60-degree angle: This is a combination of the 90-degree and 60-degree angles, and is used for drilling in materials such as copper and brass. =============================================================

Winning an election with fewer votes ?
Thanks. So that is democracy ! ... Is that democracy ?

Winning an election with fewer votes ?
Hi. Never got it clear about electoral votes, whatever that is nor whoever cast those votes. Yes, searched for it. Correct, have no interest in politics. Does it mean a candidate in U.S. elections can lose the election while having more votes count than the contender ?

Can smells of decomposing matter carry illnesses ?
Thanks. I take it then like the foul smells are translated as an evolutionary warning reaction to 'not get closer' to a danger area sourcing the smell. Not as a 'you smelled it; now you are sick' And that the airborne smell molecules are too small to carry microbes 'on board' ? Thinking out of the box, if evolution has taught to stay away from foul smells, is it because that 'experience' has somehow harmed before ? Does it make sense to think that way ?

Can smells of decomposing matter carry illnesses ?
Hello all. Rotten corpses, feces, decomposing matter are smelly because their particles get airborne and sensed by olfaction. Can those fouled particles carrying the smell, transport microbes as to propagate certain illnesses just by smelling ? (restricted to smell, not as splashes or mist)
