Connecting the "composite PAL" signal from the computer to the "video input" of the DVD recorder. As I said this works fine with the VCR, but the vertical syncronisation of the DVD is different, I believe some sort of inverter circuit is required to change the direction of the vert sync pulse. (Incidentally a "vertical sync" output connection is available at the computer).

Vertical Sync problem I have used an old (1980’s) computer to generate titles for video recorded on to my VCR. This works fine, however I have tried to connect this antique computer to a DVD recorder and the computer-generated picture slowly rolls upwards. I believe that this is a “negative” (vertical) sync problem, and an additional circuit is required to correct this rolling picture. Does anyone know where I can obtain, (in order of preference):- 1. a ready-built adapter to cure this vertical sync problem. 2. a kit of parts to home build an adapter. 3. a diagram of how to build such a device. Please post links to any site which you think may help me cure my rolling picture problem.

Is it possible to draw a little power from a SCART socket on a video recorder, e.g. 1millamp @ approx 10 Volts (DC), to power a pre-amp circuit.

If someone could answer my question it would demonstrate whether men named after their father are more likely to become criminals.

Are there more Juniors in jail ? Do prison populations have a greater proportion of men who have the same name as their father, than the general population ? e.g. John Smith Jnr , Joe Bloggs III, i.e. the "mini-me" phenomenon.

It may give you closure on this matter to know that Social Services have been aware of this child's family since before his birth: his mother gave birth to him when she was 15 years old, (age of consent in the UK is 16). So he has a social worker, he has seen a psychiatrist (hence the Ritalin), and is well known (infamous) to teachers, the police, the judiciary and the fire brigade. So every authority is aware of his behaviour, but apparently nothing can be done to prevent his chronic offending.

I started this thread because I questioned the use of Ritalin in this individual. Evidently it did not stop or reduce his offending, it may have even have made it worse, (here is a similar case):- " Donna Miller's son Lee was prescribed Ritalin after he was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of five. Donna, who lives in Edinburgh, found her son's behaviour immediately worsened. Since I started this link this 14 year old boy has:- Committed arson three times, (fire brigade required for one), Threatened to hit a much younger boy with a brick, Threatened to stab a much younger girl and Attacked a female teacher, (he has now been expelled from school). Evidently Ritalin is not effective in this individual.
