One day, I'll run the world and anyone who has a different opinion than me will be labelled ignorant and exiled to a island that will subsequently be used for testing various types of horrific weapons. :jk:

The family of the cloned baby is supposedly denying access to its DNA. Yeah. Ok. Idiots like this give cloning a bad name.

zzz....

Also notable in this topic is the difference between intragalactic and intergalactic travel. In Star Trek terms, it would still take thousands of years at warp 9 to get to another galaxy.
-
Not yet, soon.
-
Too many differences for one leader to work; it's impossible to please even a majority of people with such large numbers and cultures.

People don't seem to get that news posts are alot better with a detailed summary. Plus, it helps bring more people here as more details will increase search results.

Actually a mule did reproduce. No one has the slightest idea how, but it happened.

If something doesn't truly doesn't have a need now, it once did; and logic dictates unless it was harmful it wouldn't be selected out.

What is it that determines that light and gravity go at a particular speed? If we can find evidence that the speed of gravity has changed over time, as we have found evidence that the speed of light has done so, this seems to suggest a gateway into the superstructure of space-time; since if there is the same relation of time it suggests the number is'nt arbitrary.

anyone else notice how chemistry teachers seem to care alot more about units than teachers in other scientific fields, including physics?

and since the two are quite different, don't make me have to rename it just because i hate history so much

I hate history. Add philosophy, but not history.

The electrochemical signals that make up thoughts and learning travel at a maximum rate not controlled by the amount of enzyme present. If there is enough of the enzyme present, the reaction does not proceed. If there is enough, the reaction proceeds at a fixed rate. Thinking or learning slower or faster is related to efficiency; how many synapses are used, and how well connected these are. Once a neurotransmitter is excreted through the terminal bud, it diffuses across the membrane without the aid of enzymes. Enzymes are involved in reuptake, but inhibiting these enzymes doesn't slow things down; it stops them. This is the basis of chemical gases such as sarin and VX. As to the relation between diameter and rate, the ion pumps and channels are not enzymes; they are integral membrane proteins. Not all proteins are enzymes. Also, I suspect the difference in speed is negligible, since the diameters don't vary by any extremely large degree. I'm a neuroscience major

Iraq/North Korea don't actually have nukes, so the extent of a nuclear war would be us bombing a few of their cities if they used bio/chem weapons. However, if all rational war conventions failed and we deployed our entire nuclear arsenal, we could easily end all life on the surface of the earth.

Language was actually a random mutation... food for thought. See the 'Gene for language found' thread in the news forum.

Yeah, those penguins are building weapons of mass destruction!

Hey adam remember about 9 months ago when you were ranting about how nibiru was going to collide with earth last august? what happened, did great maker smash it with an asteroid to throw it off course? -
i don't care what you say to the public, it just makes you look bipolar

The true scope of Natural Selection

even in hypothetical situations you must apply ideas correctly :/ -
They're a cult of idiots. File this one under pseudoscience. This is the kind of organization zarkov belongs to, "believe us without proof even though we have no qualifications"

The true scope of Natural Selection

A really fast predator wouldn't show up any faster than an ostrich would adapt to it and be able to fly. Once again, let me explain a basic idea in genetics for those who obviously have no higher level knowledge of the topic. If you look at mutuation rates, it's blatantly obvious this is not the primary factor driving evolution. Sexual reproduction is. Do not confuse the varying of traits with mutations. Mutations are the driving factor for change ONLY in asexually reproducing organisms. Please rethink your theory with this knowledge that an incredibly fast predator wouldn't simply mutate into existance in a few generations. -
solution: kill yourself

The radiation danger in space is very extreme. they would be better protected, but it doesn't matter anyway. if 2 people have a nucelar bomb dropped on them, the one with body armor is better protected, but they're both screwed anyway. the space suits astronauts wear make skin color irrelevant anyway because of the protection they offer.
