    Google Labs

I just found an area of Google I didn't know existed, and apparently isn't linked to from the main page: http://labs.google.com This page has some really cool search features; view results as scrolling web pages, see quotes about sites from other sites, Google glossary, a list generator (you input some terms, it guesses what else should be on the list), search by voice, and keyboard shortcuts for navigating results.
  2. In space, diffraction should only be caused by the aperture; but in an atmosphere, couldn't more precise methods enable coherency at an effective range? I know laser defense tests over a few hundred kilometers have been successful.
  3. Actually, if you're using the Cyrillic character page to view the site, it will not display properly, it displays as 'I'.
  4. typo. NICE PARENETHESES SKILLS, YOU SCREWED IT UP BIG TIME, NO WAY DOING IT IN THE ORDER YOUR FORMAT GIVES WOULD GIVE THE RIGHT ANSWER.
  5. void setpostcount(long number) { cAdmin.users.fafalone.setpostcount(number); cAdmin.users.rebuildpostcount() }
  6. Competition; for its particular niche, it is the top organism. If it started developping gills, it would be outcompeted.
  7. Time. It takes millions of years to evolve major features; it's still going.

Well that's pretty much how all DO's are so...

Actually, I'm going to medical school, but also plan to pursue graduate studies in physics at some point. I know its a little unusual, especially considering biophysics doesn't interest me. Only 2 QM courses are offered to undergraduates here; and their prereq's are dif. eq, modern physics, physics i-iii, e/m i-ii, classical mechanics i. Also, what other math courses would you recommend? My interest in physics lies in cosmology/relativity.

    I just came up with a new four year plan for myself that's basically a triple major. Neuroscience (which is really like psych/bio) and physics. What does everyone who's in/has been through college think? CHM111 3 Principles of Chemistry I CHM113 1 LAB PSY110 3 Introduction to Psychology ENG105 3 English Composition I FEX101 1 Freshmen Advising Contact Team for Neuroscience BIL255 3 Cellular and Molecular Biology 14 PHY205 3 University Physics I MTH111 4 Calculus I ENG107 3 Writing About Science PSY120 1 Research Mentoring CHM112 3 Principles of Chemistry II CHM114 1 LAB FRE211 3 Intermediate French I 18 PHY206 3 University Physics II PHY208 1 LAB MTH112 4 Calculus II BIL250 3 Genetics CHM201 3 Organic Chemistry I CHM203 1 LAB BIL268 3 Neurobiology 18 MTH311 3 Ordinary Differential Equations PHY360 3 Introduction to Modern Physics PHY207 3 University Physics III PHY209 1 LAB PSY204 4 Introduction to Biobehavoiral Statistics ENG201 3 English Literature 17 PHY340 3 Classical Mechanics I PHY350 3 Intermediate Electricity and Magnetism I PSY316 4 Experimental Psychology BIL368 3 Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience ARC171 4 Architecture History 17 PHY351 3 Intermediate Electricity and Magnetism II PHY317 3 Physics of Stellar Systems BIL342 3 Neural Mechanisms of Disease HIS101 3 US History I PHI101 3 Introduction to Philosophy 18 PHY560 3 Quantum Mechanics I PHY505 2 Advanced Physics Laboratory BIL468 3 Developmental Neuroscience BMB401 3 Biochemistry HIS102 3 US History II 14 PHY561 3 Quantum Mechanics II BIL403 4 Neuroscience Laboratory APY201 3 Princples of Physical Anthropology PSY305 3 Psychology of Drugs and Behavoir 13 total credits=142 (inc. 13 transfer credits in precalc/biology), 130 required for Neuroscience and 120 for a normal major.
  11. They do mention the antiproton though, that's why I considered all the other antiparticles as admissions. And it says there are 120 types of baryons... I sure don't know them all :/
  12. What do you call your post right there?
  13. Effective distance of a laser should theoretically be limited only by the power input?
  14. Superscript is better, because the Western character set only has 0, 1, 2, 3. alt+0178 is the losers way
  15. hey, who do you think added the superscript and subscript tags, as well as all the other symbols? I wasn't sure if vBul. commands would be rendered on the front page; and i wasn't going change it if it wasn't, so i just played it safe
  16. I wish I was one of them :/
  17. The antineutron, Xi0, sigma0, M+, all of the antineutrinos, all of the antiquarks (though these are mentioned, as they, with a quark, compose mesons), delta (baryon), the lamba baryon (incidently, the simple where it says lambda is actually the symbol for a hyperon, so this is an omission as well), the phi meson, the delta meson.. i think thats it. some of these omissions are generally not talked about; but since once again you had to challenge me, I've included as many as I could find
  18. 1: The Universal Gas Law, pressure * volume = moles * gas constant * temperature in kelvin 2: energy of massive body not in motion, energy = mass * the speed of light squared 3: force = mass * acceleration 4: Euler's equation; relating the 5 most important numbers in math 5: Gravitation, force of gravity between 2 bodies = -constant * mass1*mass2 / radius squared 6: ultraviolet voodoo! 7: pythagorean theorem, c= hypotenuse 8: quadratic formula 9: energy of a wave
  19. What's your favorite equation from chemistry/physics/mathematics? If yours isn't listed, choose other and reply with it!
  20. Because we can't do experiments like that on humans
  21. Well in the case of area 51, seeing it is solid evidence they covered it up. They have since acknowledged tho.

I visit the site every few minutes and haven't gotten one in ages.
  23. No, I don't care
  24. Could have less side effects? Personally I wouldn't take a drug that inhibits glucosylceramide, since a quick search revealed it's present in all eukaryotic cells.
  25. Define proof. The government has admitted some things previously covered up. They also said there's no facility near Groom Lake at one time, but it's pretty conclusive proof when you can go see it (I have!).
