  1. point = my car > your car
  2. There's a fine line between the ability to do simple arithmetic and using convergence of infinite series to compute an indefinate integral of e^(-x^2).
  3. ..and should students also be required to learn how to fly a plane before they can travel in one, or transistor theory before being allowed to use electronics? While we're at it, we should make them learn how to build a car before they can drive one. Knowing how to use something to achieve a desired result is important, knowing the technicalities behind it is not. People who wish to pursue careers in mathematics and physics, or actually want to learn the technicalities, should be offered a separate course, but all students shouldn't be forced to learn it; only how to use it to solve real problems.
  4. Silence toyota. It cost $719 (with tax+professional installation). But an extra 150 horsepower at the wheels (yes, wheels, not flywheel) is quite alot to show for it. I believe your car has less than 150hp, so I'm adding on the entire power of your crappy car
  5. Knowing the theory behind solving problems is totally overrated unless you're going into a mathematics intensive field. It's way more important to know how to solve real world problems using the most advanced technology available than to focus on pointless theory and such.
  6. Using a constraint like char[10] makes 10 the MAXIMUM, to set a minimum requirement you'll need to script a checker onto the page.
  7. Allow them to use the 89 but also require them to show their work. Calculus courses should be more focused on learning how to solve problems then constantly requiring a bunch of algebra tricks.
  8. Fafalone, his wrath will be issued through copious postage fafalone Sayonara, the voices in his head are no longer adequately contained atinymonkey dave YT2095 YT, he can combine as many words as it takes to make a sentence to post with blike Dudde Sayonara³ In other news, the following people are banned from the site for undisclosed reasons: atinymonkey dave YT2095 blike Dudde Sayonara³
  9. There is a page change button on the bottom. It's on the bottom left.
  10. The time is nearly upon us, the mighty empire of Fafalone shall triumph over the infidel Sayonara and relcaim the sacred honor of Top Poster. That is, as soon as final exams are over and I have nothing to do for a month over winter break.
  11. Sayonara should definately be banned, he's going to overtake me as the top in post volume in less than 24 hours.
  12. ALL HAIL MY 150 SHOT OF NITROUS: NX STAGE ONE EFI, ORDERED TODAY. Finally no more losing to stock LS1s

I just wasn't feeling the studying last night. I put in 3 hours, that was enough, considering I still have 2 more nights before my first exam.

    Worst post ever.
  17. I'd have to say the crimes are perpetrated by the Columbian cocaine lords still upset from the early 1900s when Coca-Cola was forced to stop putting cocaine in its drinks.
  18. A really good experiment you could do is experimentally measure the speed of light using a microwave, I believe blike posted details about it somewhere. If you're interested I can help to find it tomorrow, seeing how its 5:30AM here I don't have too much energy left tonight lol.
  19. I can imagine a way to to calculate it based on the distance and diameter of photorecptive pigments in the eye and wavelength of light and the angle it comes through the cornea and the focal distance... but I've got no definite numbers, but if a small object was an inch away from your eye you should be able to detect movement of around 0.22mm/s
  20. Oh please, everyone knows it was blike who messed up the site. Again.
  21. Leagues are funny, but not as funny as "barleycorns" 1 barleycorn = 0.0085 meters
  22. -136.575C.
  23. I chose parsec because measuring in parallax is cool, and its the best unit for talking about distance on the intergalactic scale. It's also the largest base unit (1pc=3.26ly)

    Inertia

The component of kinetic energy that allows for rotation is 1/2Iw2, where I is the moment of inertia and w is the angular speed.

    Inertia

The moment of inertia of a solid object such as a cat or a buttered piece of toast is dependent on mass. Since the toast has a negligible mass compared to the cat, its moment of inertia does not contribute to the total moment of inertia of the system, hence the toast can be ignored and the cat would just go splat.
