    Sasser Virus!

Indeed. AV programs don't even catch 100% of active viruses (not ones just sitting there not doing anything), I catch more with my methods that take 5 minutes. As soon as my computer restarted once, I found and deleted the files, and googled for a patch. No more problems.

...nothing you can do to avoid getting hit when someone brings it onto the LAN, bypassing the hardware firewall. I removed it, by hand (only fools use antivirus programs), and downloaded the patch from MS, and it was over with in <5 minutes.
  10. If it was addressed by parents in the household settings as early as possible it wouldn't be as bad when they actually witnessed it, which often can happen very early, particularly in large cities.
  11. Guess what... the real world is inescapably full of sex and violence, and shielding kids from it only hurts them.
  12. rofl Let's see some equations.
  13. It's just that DNA is not the only determining factor in fingerprints or many other charateristics influenced by the environment. ...and technically, no, identical twins do not have exactly the same DNA because of mutatations.
  14. Why it specifically won't work is loss of energy involved with friction between objects, and objects and the air for starters.
  15. One of the greatest advantages is that most GUI stuff will now be handled by your graphics accelerator card, which will save tons of regular RAM and speed things up greatly.
  16. Your post still only speaks to psychologically-oriented effects. Example of cases that I'm referring to: Placebo chemotherapy will never result in the cancer being eliminated (though it sometimes would go away in such a study, a relation would need to be made to a control group to determine if that percentage is higher...)
  17. For me I confirm things through foreign and domestic media, and other sources such as Cryptome.
  18. No. The placebo effect is completely irrelevant for symptoms that are not psychlogically oriented.
  19. I've met Jeb Bush (governor of FL), who's George Bush's brother. blike=owned
  20. You can attach images to your post and they will be uploaded to our server.
  21. I've found Sargent Welch to be the best equipment supplier for small scale personal labs: http://sargentwelch.com/Default.asp?
  22. I use about $60 worth of glassware for distillation in my home lab.
  23. A good rule of thumb is not to try to distill your own concentrated acids if you don't know what distillation is
  24. Yeah. I usually take that and distill it into a more concentrated form.
  25. Muriatic acid is another term for HCl in any concentration.
