  1. You couldn't pass an AP test in any subject, much less a GRE.
  2. Too bad memorization doesn't help on alot of important exams. From your comments its quite clear you've never dealt with graduate exams. ...and how long have you had to learn to spell and type.
  3. Well, for one thing, you sure as hell couldn't pass a spelling test. And the 'a' you put in calculUs is not a typo, it's a blatant misspelling. Generally people who are experts on a subject can spell it right.
  4. The point is you don't know even close to everything about those subjects you listed. The content of your posts throughout this forum have demonstrated this.
  5. Wow you're more arrogant than I am. I promise there are exams you cannot pass.
  6. Today marks one year since we started this site. Here's some statistics: After one year, we have 495 members (346=69.9% with 1+ posts) who have made 15,500 posts in 1223 different topics. The most new members joined in April 2003 and July 2002, each with 65 new members. However week 11 (in March 2003) captures the record for most new members, with 24. January 23, 2003 was the day with the most posts with 317. Yearly averages: Posts per year: 15500 Posts per month: 1292 Posts per day: 42.5 View the top 50 posters: http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/memberlist.php?s=&what=topposters&perpage=50 Thanks to all of our members, and especially our moderators. We hope you all continue to make this site keep getting better as it has this year.
  7. The game engine is under copyright. Things like dehacked didn't change the engine significantly, so selling modified versions is illegal unless you license the engine itself.
  8. Since temperature is a measure of molecular movement, there is by definition no high attainable temperature, but the limit is where each molecule is moving at c. Like absolute zero, this is not attainable, but can be approached closer and closer.
  9. And we can't assess the validity of any statement made. Unless it's made by me, since I'm never wrong. :jk:
  10. LSD is not addictive and causes short-term tolerance only, because unlike opiates it does not destroy the receptors that it affects. It does not increase the risk on mental disturbances occuring, but can trigger an existing mental condition to become more prominent. Flashbacks occur in approximately 14% of people, however less than 1% find them disturbing... and in that case it's almost always after a bad trip. The mechanism by which flashbacks occur is the same for any intense emotional experience, and is not related to altered brain chemistry or neurological damage, or presence of the drug (it does NOT form permanent crystals in your brain, and it certainly does not drain spinal fluid; these are myths). With psilocybin, the effects are less intense, less real, and much less likely to cause side effects. The mechanism of action is similar to LSD. LSD and psilocybin are not in the same class as marijuana and opiates. Opiates cause long-term depletion of dopamine receptors and are highly addictive in addition to whats already been mentioned by Sayonara. Marijuana is the least powerful of the three, and has now been linked to lung cancer.
  11. The mechanism by which HIV-1 eludes the human immune system is through a coat of human sugars. The antibody 2G12 has interlocking Fab arms which recognize the structural difference associated with the virus, effectively defeating the virus. The antibody, which was discovered 12 years ago, is found in a very few number of people found to be immune to HIV-1. This latest research, led by the Scripps Research Institute, identifies the precise mechanism by which 2G12 is effective, which may provide a template for synthesizing a vaccine. The paper appears in the June 27th, 2003 issue of Science. Abstract: Human antibody 2G12 neutralizes a broad range of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) isolates by binding an unusually dense cluster of carbohydrate moieties on the "silent" face of the gp120 envelope glycoprotein. Crystal structures of Fab 2G12 and its complexes with the disaccharide Man:alpha:1-2Man and with the oligosaccharide Man9GlcNAc2 revealed that two Fabs assemble into an interlocked VH domain-swapped dimer. Further biochemical, biophysical, and mutagenesis data strongly support a Fab-dimerized antibody as the prevalent form that recognizes gp120. The extraordinary configuration of this antibody provides an extended surface, with newly described binding sites, for multivalent interaction with a conserved cluster of oligomannose type sugars on the surface of gp120. The unique interdigitation of Fab domains within an antibody uncovers a previously unappreciated mechanism for high-affinity recognition of carbohydrate or other repeating epitopes on cell or microbial surfaces.
  12. Shouldn't you have put this in the "suggestions" forum?

Bellstand at a condo assocication for millionaires. There's a few neurosurgeons around there, so yeah it's a good start.
  15. The bridge doesn't have a weight limit, it has a force limit, and F=ma. However, since the man is not a rigid body, when he caught it his arm would give thus reducing the force of impact on the bridge, so this scenario might work.
  16. Background microwave radiation, neutrino background
  17. Quite ironic you would use a quote from a sci-fi species reknowned for its logic while your own theories fly in the face of the logic of the scientific method.
  18. Only if "soon" I am involved in some kind of accident that kills off 90% of my brain cells.
  19. It WAS the best; that's a fact, not an opinion. They didn't believe a new computer was important, because they didn't understand what was wrong with the one I had. Whereas they clearly understood the need for a new raquet.
  20. Must be a disciple of Michael FD.
  21. Because we don't need another debate on semantics.
  22. The "at least" and present participle "coming" implied that I was not talking about reproductive cloning when summarizing the story. Radical Edward: Threads closed by administrators are not to be reopened by moderators.
  23. Yeah, it's called no one reply and let it drift off the active topics list, good job.
  24. Hows about reading my comment properly? at least for research. Which is not reproductive.
  25. i is defined as the square root of -1, thats it.
