  1. I think it took so long because they started with nothing and had to create everything new. Our technology progresses so fast because we already have the knowledge from previous generations. Having a written language and recording history play in a big role in our technological advancment.

I took gov't and comp science. they were alright.
  4. wat's a good review/practice book for the ACT.
  5. I just took the AP computer science and gov't. The exams are fairly simple if you well prepared. You can go to amazon and find books. Cracking the AP is a good series from what I've heard about it. Here's another option: You don't have to an AP class to take the AP exam so if your confident you could teach the material to yourself you could just go to your guidence counselor and talk to her about it. I am fairly certain I got a 4 on my computer science exam, but I'm not so sure about the Gov't one. Usually a top uni will except only 4's and 5's, but smaller unis will accept 3's. I guess if you went to a smaller school first that accepted 3's and then transferred to a top college that the credits awarded to you from the small uni would transfer over to the top one. I'm not 100% sure on this on though. Again just go talk to your guidance counselor. Next year I will be taking AP Calculus and hopefully I'll get a 4 on it. I can't take the actual AP class thats offered at my school because I wasn't in the honors english program, but I'm seriosly considering taking the AP Lit exam. I would like to clear out as many bs classes as possible so that I can go directly into my major. Have you taken the ACTs yet? I take mine on June 10th. I'm going to start preparing myself for it next week. I got a lot of good test taking strategies in the AP prep books I bought so I will utilize those in the ACT. For my first time I'm aiming for a 28-29. I think I will retake it anyways because colleges take your highest score. That's my two cents. -J
  6. Yea. I don't know. I see the SciFi shows and theres a theoretical astrophysicist and an engineern all in one.
  7. Is it possible to do both?
  8. check this out: http://pesn.com/2006/05/02/9500266_Gun_Engine/
  9. What would the major be called if say I wanted to go into building an anti-matter device or designing space vehicles or inventing artificial gravity devices? Thanks.
  10. Yea thanks. I'm just trying to find out all the options. If I or me and a partner came up with something that we could sell for millions or even tens of millions it would help me start my own company and do the things that I want to do.
  11. Let's say that I discovered something that would completely, positively, scientificly proven product that burned fat until a person was down to a healthy weight. How much money would a company give someone that came up with something like this? Seeing as how if something like this was discovered and sold to a company, they would stand to make billions, I would think 50-100 million would sound like a reasonable price.
  12. To be honest I dont really remember where I saw it. It might have been in biology class. From what I remeber it kind of had a 60 minutes vibe to it or something. I don't really remember where the family was from either. They looked to be a little darker skined, but non-Hispanic. Thats why I posted here. I just remember seeing it on a TV.
  13. There are some schools that offer a Ph.D. and M.D.
  14. no one. i thought someone would remember.
  15. Keving, step away from the computer before you go back to jail.

  17. I remember watching something on TV a while ago about a family, I forgot where they're from, but the whole family made a protein that prevented heart disease and what not. I remember they should the grandma who ate fried sausage every morning for breakfeast. Does neone else remember this and do you have a link? Thanks.
  18. One other thing, from your guys posts it doesn't seem like know how severe the actions of these peolp really are. Nobody in my family has been killed in my lifetime and I considered myself blessed. Picture not having your mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, child gone. They're never coming back.
  19. I think you guys watch a little two much Boston Legal and Law & Order. Are you guys trying to tell me that the jury's emotions are not going to come into play when deciding guilt. We're humans. Emotions are what drives us to do everything. Emotions drived the killer to kill. Emotions will kill the killer. Like an equation in mathematics, balance has been restored.
  20. People whose sentence includes the death penalty have been found guilty by a jury of their peers. They have killed another human being. This human being no longer exists. How do you think that will affect your family and any children the victim may have? They will now have to grow up with a father or a mother. What if the victim was the bread winner of the family? Not only have they killed another human being, if they are recieving the death penalty they most likely did it in a very hanus way. I think that the family is entitled to a little revenge. The person revieving the death penaly is not the victim, he is the perpatrator.

How are you going to grow, even in microgravity if your growth plates are closed?

I don't have the time to read through pages of post and only have a couple of things to say regarding herme3's original post: 1. You're a total minge. I recommend you go have your T-levels checked. 2. If your username herme3 is suppose to refer to the Greek god Hermes, because if it is you should know that Hermes had numerous affairs with goddesses, nymphs, and mortals and in some legends with sheeps and goats. 24. There is a 7 week program at UW-Madison in the summer called Summer Science Institute(SSI) that I'm sending an application for. Here's an abstract of something that participants have the chance to do: Genetics/Biotechnology Within this class, you will have two separate options that will be decided by the students during the first week of class. The first option would be to take a look at genes that are "turned on" as a plant develops. The mRNA from plants would be isolated and students would be able to take a look at these genes and determine if the genes are on or off in response to different environmental factors. Students would learn how to isolate RNA, make a cDNA copy of it, and then do PCR to make enough DNA to see on an agarose gel. The other possibility would be to analyze food for the presence of genetically modified pieces of DNA. Students would learn how to purify DNA from food samples, and then perform PCR to make enough DNA to see on an agarose gel. Molecular Biology DNA chip (sensor) can be used for identifying DNA sequences of living organisms. Single strands of DNA of many different sequences in extremely short time will be automatically synthesized on a glass slides, cleaved off from the chip and hybridized for detection. During this process, students will learn the possibility of assembling a biological DNA using Semiconductor Processing Nanotechnology, which is state-of-art and is also actively being researched at UW-Madison. If I do get excepted into the program it's going to be hard to chose which one I want to do. I'd like to become a genetic engineer so if anyone out there can tell me which one is geared towards that the most, I'd be thankful. Thanks, John
