  1. You have something undesirable installed on your computer. Run an antivirus or antimalware program.
  2. This is modern software; there's no useful manual. After all, changing how everything works every six months or so is more important than helping people use the features you have.
  3. You should be able to hit Enter a couple times to break out.
  4. Do you see the "Hide" button, or do I need to edit some settings?
  5. Because 10:51PM comes after 12:41 PM?
  6. Don't need to do anything that drastic; it's probably just cached code from the old software interacting badly with new stuff from the new software. Force-refresh or clear cache and see what happens. The site doesn't use any popups, so you shouldn't need to disable a popup blocker.
  7. You may find this paper helpful: http://archildpsych.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Medications-review-for-ADHD-management-Daughton-2009.pdf It's rather technical, but it's an overview of the different pharmacological treatment options for ADHD, with their advantages and disadvantages listed, with citations to other papers. Wellbutrin (Bupropion) is covered. If you see other papers covered that you'd like copies of, but can't find for free online, I can help get access through my university subscriptions.
  8. This is an over-optimistic view. Scientists are justified in being skeptical of new theories that do come with supporting evidence, because most supporting evidence turns out to be wrong: http://www.plosmedicine.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pmed.0020124 In addition, sensible Bayesian reasoning suggests that if a past theory has a great deal of evidence to support it, and a new theory not nearly as much, we should not rush to change our minds. We would end up chasing statistical flukes and experimental errors more often than not.
  9. That would be silly of it. I'll try it in Firefox and see what it's doing. If it's really trying to do that, I'll file a bug. edit: ah, it's trying to display 50 notifications at a time. I guess your browser can't take that many.
  10. I guess that's a "no."
  11. Not sure why you want to delete all the notifications -- it marks them as read once you've seen them, so you can ignore them -- but I think the only way to nuke them for sure is just to run an SQL query.
  12. Could you explain what you intend to discuss and what the point of this topic is? This is a discussion board, not a place for vague and unclear announcements.
  13. If it gets us more readers and regular visitors, it's a help to us. We get hundreds of thousands of visitors, so a few more from Facebook won't make a dent in our ad revenue -- but if one of your friends decides they like SFN and joins, we benefit. The more smart and interested members we get, the better!
  14. What would you do differently from, say, the Index to Creationist Claims? http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/
  15. Uh-oh. I'll have to test that out later.
  16. Weiiird. Just had that happen to me. No idea why that would happen. There are some weird kinks to work out with the new software.
  17. Weird. This is a cliched answer, but: have you tried clearing your browser's cache? Maybe it's got some old code saved that doesn't mix well with the new code.
  18. That's interesting. Not a particularly helpful change. I'll see if it can be changed, or if it was intentional.
  19. Python does not terminate statements with semicolons. I don't know why a tutorial would have semicolons in it. Do you have a link?
  20. "Link to anchor in text" means "link to an anchor I have placed earlier in this post". That's not what you want. Choose URL. If you want to make a particular word or phrase into a link, type it out and select it before pressing the button.
  21. Depends what sort of programming you want to do. Some companies offer certification for their programming languages; for example, you could be a Zend Certified Engineer, a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer, or have one of O'Reilly's certifications. But a lot of employers won't care about certifications; they want to see experience. Build something as a hobby so you can show employers "look what I can do." Also, could you avoid posting titles in ALL CAPS?
  22. I'm looking into this; something is loading the server. I'll see what I can do.
  23. Whoops. Apparently that's not supposed to be there at all. Fixed.
  24. You'd be able to click on the reputation points number on any post and see a little pop-up with the names of everyone who voted.
  25. Okay, just set it back to the old-fashioned system. What does everyone think of making votes public?
