Rather than engaging in discussion on how "dogmatic" and troll-like we all are, can we just discuss Graviphoton's hypotheses? It would make things a little easier. Graviphoton, if you wouldn't mind, please answer the questions posed to you. The rest of you: perhaps this thread would go more smoothly without hostility. If it doesn't, well, that'll be the end of this thread...

What is "internal experience" vs "external experience", and what does the "probability of an observational experience with the objective world" represent? As far as I know the terms are meaningless. And Graviphoton, stop commenting on other people's physics knowledge like you're some kind of expert yourself. The incomprehensibility of your posts is a function of the way you wrote them, not how much education we happen to have.

Unless the OS doesn't have drivers for the network card.

What sort of signs do you see?

The absorption of the EEC into the EU was ratified by EU member nations, including by a referendum in France. (Note that the EEC will be fully absorbed by the Treaty of Lisbon, which has not yet been ratified.)

Countries it eliminated? All of the countries willingly joined.

Well, whatever the case, our growth rate is increasing linearly, so our postcount is increasing at an increasing rate. I hope our post rate increase increases

Passport data is not unencrypted. It may not be the best security (brute-forcing could be possible), but it reduces the convenience of such attacks.
-
Just FYI: the new passports contain only the information that's on an ordinary non-electronic passport. You know, your picture and name and stuff. What's so terrifying? http://travel.state.gov/passport/eppt/eppt_2788.html#One

Okay, so the information you have is (a) there's a group of rich and powerful people who meet every year and (b) some of them deny being there (which I actually doubt). How do you jump to the conclusion that they're controlling the government?
-
Do you happen to have any evidence to support these extraordinary claims?

There is no way to disprove the "theory" of intelligent design. It is untestable. You can't adopt it as a scientific theory because there's no way to see if it's right.

A year from whose reference frame?

It has a very simple syntax and'll do anything you throw at it. I'd say it's a little simpler and easier than even Java, but then I haven't used Python as much. Being completely interpreted (no compilation to bytecode) also makes Python development a little less irritating.

Yesterday SFN passed 400,000 posts. We've effectively doubled our number of posts since September 2005. Our post rate is going up and we've got plenty of new members -- in fact, we recently passed 10,000 members. I think this milestone is a cause for celebration. Good work, everyone, and let's hope we can double our postcount yet again in another three years. (Go exponential growth!)

In the coming days I will be upgrading the SFN blogs from WordPress MU 1.3 to WPMU 1.5.1. This will require me to take down the blogs for at least half an hour. If you're interested in seeing what will come with the new WordPress, take a look at the WordPress announcement of version 2.5 (which corresponds to WPMU version 1.5) listing all the new features and fanciness. The biggest new features are a redesigned blog admin area and support for photo galleries in posts. I will, of course, be taking full backups before I perform the upgrade. Hope everyone enjoys the new features!

Yes. Hit Applications->Accessories->Terminal. When it opens up, type sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop and hit enter. You'll put in your password and then give it some time to install all the Xubuntu stuff. Next time you restart the computer and get into the Ubuntu login screen, you should be able to choose between Xubuntu and Ubuntu via the little menu at the lower left. (Or something, I'm not sure what. But you will be able to choose.)

Depends on what the power of the laser. Look for the power (something like 5mW) or a safety class (IIIb or something) on the laser. It most likely means having the laser pointed through the scope at your eyeball, yes. Looking through the scope at a dot on a tree a hundred feet away won't cause any more damage than looking at the dot while you're standing ten feet away.

I am not destroying "the man." I am asking you if you want to discuss this and seek a resolution to whatever your problems might be.

I'd hesitate to call people "too old" -- McCain is 71, and Reagan was 69 when he was first elected.

If you would care to discuss your infractions and what you have been doing wrong, I encourage you to private message me or one of the other moderators. You will achieve nothing by making threads such as this one. If there are problems with the way we run the site I would love to correct them. However, the problem instead seems to be your attacks on other members (not just in the post you were infracted for but in others -- and no, I don't care who started it) and insistence on bringing your hypotheses into scientific threads. Please take a careful look through the forum rules and the posts you were issued infractions for and get back to me or another mod.
