Please keep peak oil in the other thread.

I could disagree with the law, but not their arrest in compliance with it. That's because be believes that denying global warming is delaying our response to it and ultimately causing great damage to society. I do not agree that denying global warming is or should be illegal, the same that I disagree with making denying the Holocaust illegal, but I have no problem with Suzuki trying to tell us that politicians should stop denying GW and start trying to fix it. If GW will cause as many problems as some foresee, action now would be good; if it won't, action now will at least help make us more efficient in the long run.
-
No he doesn't. He wants to find ways to establish that it already is illegal. He says that what the politicians are doing is a "criminal act", not that it should be.

Note any inconsistency?

It's not about law enforcement. It's about law creation.

Casio Exilim EX-F1: The 60fps Camera (yes, sixty)
Cap'n Refsmmat replied to Sayonara's topic in The Lounge
$999... I'd buy that beast if I could. It apparently keeps a buffer of the latest 60 pictures at all times, meaning that it can play through them in slo-mo and let you take a "picture" of the past. I want. -
Uh-oh. I just tested and I can add categories, but I think some of the permissions are screwed up as it's not considering me a WordPress admin anymore. I don't know what changed either. Time for investigation...

I take it you're a junior then? My best advice would be to work your tail end off and see where you can get yourself. You go into medical school after four years of college and a degree, so you have five or six years to make your grades good and your record better. Your best bet for university admission before medical school is to try to make your remaining high-school career look as good as possible and to get involved in other activities (volunteer work, etc.). I suppose if you have an interview before admission at a college you could explain your situation as well. So, in short, don't lose hope. If you can pull things together and do better, you have a solid chance. It's all dependent on how much work you're willing to put in. (And it's a good sign that you care enough to try to get advice from others.)

That's a nice set of logical leaps right there. You have deja-vu, so you're probably decision impaired. Nice one.

I believe there's a Sphinx search plugin that offers better performance and better searching. I haven't looked to see what sort of work that would take, though. -
I don't think there are many consumer-grade routers that perform deep packet inspection to find viruses. You might find high-end stuff, but not your average home box.

Or perhaps they communicate pain in ways we don't understand -- not all animals express pain by moaning and whimpering and rubbing the affected region. Expressing pain as an animal is probably a disadvantage -- it indicates to predators that you might be easy to eat.
-
If you get a drive-by virus through your browser, not even a smart router will stop it. Yes, stay away from "sketchy websites," but viruses can even be installed by sites like Snopes (they discovered that their banner ads were installing drive-by spyware recently).

Apparently it was a trick theme. Blike fixed it.
-
Fixed that for you. Your choice of permalink structure included "index.php/", which the theme didn't include in its link. It thus confused WordPress by linking to something without the index.php. I removed the index.php from your permalink structure. Everything should work okay now.
-
Yes, I think so. Yours is available at http://blogs.scienceforums.net/swansont/index.php/feed/rss2/ (I think your permalink options screwed up the link on your blog) -- most blogs have a feed at /blogname/feed/rss2/. There's usually a link somewhere, and if you use Firefox you can click the orange RSS icon in the URL bar to get to the feed.

http://blogs.scienceforums.net/capn/ Definitely. I'm not quite sure what I'll talk about yet, but I may have a few things up my sleeve... Hrm. Perhaps we need a blog listing page showing all the blogs on SFN...

Companionship?

The SFN staff are proud to announce the opening of ScienceForums.net Blogs, a blogging system that will allow members of SFN to run a (free) science-related blog hosted by SFN. The blog system is fully integrated with SFN, so all current members with more than 50 posts and one month of membership on SFN can sign up for a blog. Simply head over to the signup page and decide what you'd like to call your blog. Please note that blogs hosted on SFN are to be science-related; that means that a majority of your posts must be on some science-related subject. That could be anything from what you did in the lab today to what you think about some new science development. Don't worry, we'll be pretty loose with this rule. Please note that the system has not yet been extensively tested and there may be a few bugs. Post any problems you have here and we'll sort them out. To see what an SFN blog might look like, head over to swansont's blog and take a look. There are dozens of themes available for you to choose from, so not every blog will be alike, but swansont's blog is a great example of what we hope our blogs will contain. For those RSS-oriented people, there's an RSS feed available (updated hourly) of the latest blog posts. It only contains posts made since yesterday though.

http://www.scienceforums.net/sfnstats.php is automatically updated daily. Try that. There's really no point. The link I provided gives you the stats for the last complete month, updated daily. If I were to post stats they'd be generated by the same script. (whoops, sorry, post weirdness. The link is actually from a post formerly above thedarkshade's.)

That's weird. I'll have to take a look at that. -
Anybody else getting these? It's a bit concerning.

Do you check the "Remember Me" box when you log in? That should fix the problem. iNow: functionality, policy and the atmosphere in general, really.
