  1. Discussed to death already.
  2. I'm not going to change everybody's name! But in any case, set. Please, let's stop the requests there.
  3. Running that amount of data down a fiber-optic line would still take an incredibly long amount of time.
  4. I can do that, although I'll change your user title to "Formerly x." edit: Done. You'll have to log in under the new name now.
  5. What he's saying, through insults, is that your manner of using the largest available words can be irritating.
  6. I don't believe the phone cord would be shielded. It's probably acting as another antenna. If I wrap my shortwave radio's external antenna (a 75ft wire) around its built-in antenna, reception improves dramatically. Same sort of idea, I think.
  7. Inconsistencies in one story do not make another story true.
  8. What operating system are you on? Windows XP? If you have your XP recovery disk (came with XP) you'll probably be able to boot off of that and recover the boot.ini.
  9. I think logic would work out that you have a nice set of coincidences going, and that you need to do some real investigation so you can find evidence. Logic works beyond reasonable doubts. You have not yet offered anything that proves that the government was involved, only that it would fit if they were. That doesn't mean they did it, that means they could have.
  10. Sure there is. Welcome to SFN.
  11. I don't care what "dimension" used to mean. That's your distinction, not mine. Right. The concept of time being a dimension fits the data well. So does your idea, but you have no more evidence than the rest of us. You cannot claim to be right more than we can.
  12. Right. Whatever you think of the original poster's opinions, that doesn't make it excusable to attack her. Remember the rules.
  13. You'd have to prove that. There were fires all over. You have no justification for the last part of that sentence. It did take a while. The first TWC bombing was against one major column (I think) and didn't do significant damage. It is unfair to compare with the Oklahoma bombings. There's a significant difference between knocking out half of a building and weakening the whole building.
  14. I was a scientifically ignorant spam monkey, and look where I am now
  15. That's how we define time. That's not necessarily the representation of what time actually is. Without a meterstick, we'd still have spatial dimensions. They exist regardless of how we measure them. You cannot argue the nonexistence of a time dimension based on the ways it is measured.
  16. You have posted this thread three times. Please leave it with the one under Speculations.
  17. No, we don't. What would we put in one?
  18. Atomic clocks are incredibly accurate, so I doubt it. The experiment has been replicated, I believe.
  19. There was always the rest of the building on top that would apply a nice force.
  20. There was an article in the Economist recently about studies using improper statistical techniques, but it was specifically about studies that check multiply hypotheses at once.
  21. Easy counterexample: blacksmithing. They heat the metal so it becomes soft and malleable. It's not about states of matter.
  22. Yes, I'd like to see the full text of the study so I can see how they did it.
  23. Assuming your numbers are correct, you're still forgetting something: steel doesn't have to melt to become weak. We haven't really established that, have we? Apart from the quote from Mr. Silverstein, you're just saying "it looked like a controlled demolition, so it had to be one." As for the quote from Silverstein, he said "just pull it." That could easily mean "just pull out." You can't limit your interpretation to make "pull" mean "demolish."
  24. A new study suggests that prayer actually does give a positive effect. Of course, I still remember the last study, which suggested that prayer on behalf of a patient was ineffective, and even a bad thing when the patient was aware of it. And so now I have to wait to see what the reaction to the latest one is. What's your take?
  25. I don't dream. Not that I remember, anyway.
