  1. Don't know what happened yesterday, seemed to be a DNS fault.
  2. The inertia of the object is the same, so it still takes effort to get the fridge to accelerate. It's just that the pinky doesn't have to support any weight, only transmit some force.
  3. Hold it. That's not what absolute value means. Absolute value means "this number, and if it's negative, make it positive," to put it simply. That means that [math]|-4| = 4[/math] and [math]|3| = 3[/math] So pause and look at that a moment. If you take the absolute value of an expression, the result is always positive. That means that [math]|4x-3|[/math] cannot be equal to -27, ever. So there's no solution.
  4. Remember that all gases (including carbon monoxide) have a volume of 22.4 liters per mole at STP. You just need to convert from grams to moles.
  5. You can stop posting this thread now, there are already enough copies of it. http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24732
  6. Erm... Where's the peer-reviewed paper in a scientific journal? Or any sort of evidence whatsoever?
  7. Ah, I have a sheet of conspiracy theories here... Here's the first on the list: The war in Iraq is a plot to destabilize the region so it can be easily controlled by the New World Order.
  8. The entire concept of raising some sort of tax - even if you compensate for it - would be controversial. Also, some people who drive more than others would be "punished" by the tax, while others would get a bonus because they hardly drive but then get a break on other taxes.
  9. A subpoena to us and your ISP?
  10. Who is it you want to kill, anyway?
  11. Erm, no. Grand Slam is still heaviest (not necessarily most powerful), and nobody's stuck GPS on it yet, as far as I know.
  12. Presumably a browser thing. When I watch the animation, it actually "stutters" - it stops for a fraction of a second randomly.
  13. The egg doesn't have to be vertical so it takes up so much space.
  14. It's just a wacky GIF rendering problem. I think we'll be taking off the logo soon enough anyway.
  15. No, you mean "never, because we'll delete all of the evidence too."
  16. According to their site, undergraduates can join the RSC. http://www.rsc.org/Membership/join/admission/index.asp

    Infested

I haven't seen any performance decrease, although I suppose that's subjective. If you switch to this version of Who's Online, you'll see that the hits are not constant - they're around every 20 seconds or so, which shouldn't hurt too much. Server load is also at a fairly low level.

    Help!

You don't need to post this three times. Someone will get to it.
  19. What do you mean by "write/solve"? You mean convert it into base 10?
  20. I have that on DVD
  21. When you make more posts, it will change to a different subatomic particle.
  22. Cork won't crumple much. Seatbelting the eggs would probably do the trick. Just make sure they're evenly supported on all sides and surrounded by something soft. Make sure there's nothing pointy to break them.
  23. Or you could scroll up and find that TheBigDino already solved the problem.
  24. No, not 6 and a half. You had six units fit already, and now you have .23 more left. Thus, 6.23.
