  1. We could do a general Experiments board instead of just a specific Chemistry one. I'll discuss it with the rest of the staff.
  2. We'll gladly make more if you want them. Which other forums would you like it for?
  3. A simple reminder to all: this is the "Homework Help" forum, not the "Homework Answers" forum. We will not do your work for you, only point you in the right direction. Posts that do give you the answers may be deleted. This site is for helping you learn more about science, not for helping you cheat on your science homework.
  4. What do you mean? Allow free discussion of other magazines and journals?
  5. Today we've added a few more forums to SFN and reorganized the rest. I'll put a summary of our changes here so everybody can see what's new: SFN Book Discussions: By popular request, we've opened a "book discussions" forum for members to discuss a featured book. New books will be chosen on a monthly or bi-monthly basis (basically whenever we feel like it, actually), and we'll be soliciting public suggestions for new books to discuss. Media Discussions: We've also added a forum for the discussion of a featured media clip - anything from a keynote speech to a lecture - also updated on a semi-monthly basis. Again, we will solicit suggestions for clips to host and discuss. Sci-Fi and Science in Entertainment: This forum is a sort of mish-mash of several things. It's for the discussion of anything from science fiction to scientific errors in your favorite movies. We may also open a creative writing subforum if the demand exists (if you want one, start posting your stories now!). Your Experiments: A subforum of Chemistry, this forum is dedicated to user-contributed chemistry experiments. If you have a fun (and legal) chemistry experiment you'd like to share with the world, post your instructions (and perhaps some pictures) there. A new category, Education, has been formed, containing our Homework Help and Science Education forums. The main page has been brought back by popular demand. It's different than it was before, but we hope it will now be more useful and more attractive to new members. The Polls forum has been removed and all threads have been placed in General Discussion. Be sure to also check out our relatively new Philosophy of Science forum! Hope everybody enjoys the new forums!
  6. Not right now.
  7. The front page is back, with a vengeance.
  8. Umm... if they can't dress properly in a uniform, what gives you the idea that they can dress properly in their own clothes?
  9. That shouldn't be necessary now. We fixed everything.
  10. /me beats YT You were the one sitting on Who's Online eating up server resources every minute while it tried to resolve 25 hostnames! (Regular users don't get that feature, sorry.)
  11. Firefox already has two (or three) separate default styles, each customized for a different operating system. They're mostly the same though.
  12. Can you refer us to this argument so we can read it?
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_crab suggests that there's a Tachypleus tridentatus. Hope you enjoy SFN.
  14. Ask Microsoft. All Mozilla is doing there is conforming to the standards supplied by Microsoft, just like you want them to.
  15. Just as an aside, I did a quick check on posts per day over the past month (I figured out how to do it), and I found that we've been getting consistently in the 100-200 range. This time last year we had around 100 posts per day more.
  16. That's the Vista support tracking bug. Look at the list of bugs that it depends on to see what they're doing for Vista.
  17. Okay, things are a bit better now. If you continue to have problems, let us know.
  18. Is the "New Posts" button really worse than the front page? What do you prefer?
  19. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352420
  20. Fixed again.
  21. Sorry about that. LaTeX should work now.
  22. I might point out that Vista compatibility is a major goal for Firefox 3.0. In case you didn't read my previous post.
  23. Should work now. Anybody with a bit more Apache experience: what would be a good .htaccess rule to redirect URLs like http://www.scienceforums.net/usercp.php to http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/usercp.php ?
  24. I might point out that Vista compatibility is on the list of things to do for Firefox 3.0. Given that 3.0 is due to come out in early 2007, it should be in time for Vista (if perhaps a few months behind).
  25. This isn't exactly the best place to make suggestions to the Mozilla developers.
