A famous Civil War general, actually. He was hit by a sharpshooter just before entering battle.

Electronic security. Read the (#$*ing article before you try to use it against us.

Security? In any case, a new sort of nuclear reactor (Advanced Liquid-Metal Reactor) is being developed that promises the ability to use about 99% of nuclear fuel efficiently - not just the 5% of other designs - and to be able to accept "waste" from other plants as fuel, producing by-products with shorter half-lives.

*cringe* Even though they asked for it, I hope they don't actually intend to use it.

Nobody's bothered to look (would anybody care when they were watching a controlled demolition?). When there are numerous other explosions going on, it's hard to tell. Not if that energy was being released at each "illusory secondary explosion" by the release of gas and dust.
-
No, it's what happens when politicians pander to certain groups of people.

Everybody involved in the planning was on the airplanes! </sarcasm>

He does mention why it fell with no drag. The dust plumes could have easily been expelled by air pressure inside the building - a rush of air caused by the collapsing floors. He is also a professor of materials engineering, meaning, in other terms, a professor of "how to put materials together." You know, a structural engineer. Oh, so now everybody in FEMA involved with the report (it wasn't written by the head, you know) is involved in the conspiracy? That's a pretty (#$*ing stupid way to keep a secret.

A large amount of mass (several hundred or thousand tons) that begins falling isn't going to slow down very easily, and once it gets going (which would be easy, due to weakened steel), the framework of the lower stories wouldn't be able to stop it. I'd like to see you manage to whistle up some firefighting helicopters in thirty minutes or less, in a state where there is very little need for them (no wildfires).

Try throwing on some hydrocarbons. Wikipedia mentions those as helping the melting/burning process.

First of all, you aren't a psychiatrist, so you can't determine if he doesn't know what he's doing. If you're not exaggerating what you're saying, however, I'd say to get a second opinion. Getting two doctors to give an opinion gives you a much better chance of doing the right thing. Anecdotes do not make evidence. If you're unsure, it's simple enough to ask two of them, even if it costs more to get the extra appointment.

How would you take over someone's country like that? Hope that their teenagers are so demoralized by their loss that they won't be able to fight back when you march in?

Blow them up, and that's what we've always done. It's certainly effective if done well. Negotiations with the sort of people they are would probably end up angering someone else - for example, negotiating and coming to a deal with one ethnic group in Iraq would probably end up with another ethnic group being angered over the deal and trying to blow someone else up.

That's because many of the medications only work in some people. While "15 different medications" sounds like either hyperbole or an incredible excess, you can't quite call it the doctor's fault. She just needs to try something else, because obviously those medications aren't the right ones. You hardly need to discredit them as "idiots." Clinical depression (among many other disorders) is a problem that can be hereditary, and can be caused by problems in brain chemistry itself. That sort of thing cannot be easily solved by talking to someone. Frankly, I'd leave that sort of decision to a therapist or psychiatrist, who would be trained to be a good person to talk to as well as understanding other possible treatments. We haven't found one. Remember, not all medication work for everybody, so one has to find a flexible doctor who is willing to find out what works for them. It can be a combination of therapy, medication, or just one, but saying "reject medication" could potentially be just as dangerous as saying "don't get therapy at all." Frankly, I wouldn't leave this kind of decision to a bunch of anonymous people on a forum anyways. Find a good psychiatrist - one that's known to be good, if you can find one - and refer the friend to them. Don't wait, because sometimes mental illnesses (if it turns out to be one, although I can't definitively say that now) can be unstable.

Says who? And that doesn't often work. Clinical depression is often caused by different chemical patterns in the brain, not just feeling sad.

The article mentions a cage around the field that's magnetically charged to contain the plasma effectively.

Wikipedia says aluminum melts at 600C, and also mentions that aluminum will burn, especially in the presence of hydrocarbons (like jet fuel).

This forum is for discussion, not for posting links to your (or others') theories.

You can enter Safe Mode by hitting F8 while Windows is booting, and then run a virus scan.

Given how much they're trying to hide the "secret," I'm guessing it's a bunch of crap. If it was something genuine, they'd have submitted it to a scientific journal.

Some people try coffee, but that isn't exactly the best plan (also makes you jittery). Experience helps, of course.

She is attempting to relate to the current situation in Israel, which happens to involve exploding buses and shootouts. You are fairly safe from those, although still not perfectly so.

You don't really have to. There is, of course, QuickBasic and Visual Basic for computers, but you can just as easily learn on your calculator. Alternately, you can try learning a simple language like Python.

Did you compare it to the heat emitted by burning jet fuel?
