Those "little bugs" are actually proteins floating around in there. That normally doesn't happen, so it was probably all of the focusing and stuff doing that.

No, that's static electricity. A Van de Graff generator.

I closed my eyes and touched my computer. Nobody else was looking at it. Thus the moon would probably be there too.

Every time it boots up, there are no icons. Five minutes later the desktop goes blue and the icons appear.
-
It's still wacky in the sense that the desktop and icons dissapear, but other than that it's fine.
-
Shall I link to it from my forum?
-
Ooh, that would be especially fun.

Yeah, right. At that speed the closing velocity would be over 34,000 miles per hour. Cripes.

I can run fast for a short time only, since my asthma wrecks my endurance.

tell me one beneficial mutation example - if there is

Okay, here goes: Before you even read the rest of this message, please read the following threads: http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2689 http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2576 http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2577 http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2444 What? How so? Now I shall go into what the site says: Balderdash. Just because it's very unlikely to happen does not mean that it is impossible. The creation of life took millions of years, and I'm sure that in that time it would have happened sometime or another. Says who? These "intermediate" forms were still "evolving" so they probably were not very successful. They would have died very quickly, only the fittest surviving. And yes, they did have five million years. That's still a lot of time. Humans weren't even really Homo Sapien Sapiens yet. Given also the 65 million years for transition I suppose they had a good deal of time to evolve. Whoever said it was the basis of all of those theories? Sounds close enough like evolution to me. They pass the new traits on and on if they're good. Three or four percent is hardly anything. It still is odd how close they are, and you can still make the claims that they are similar. So we're ignoring you have to add up to 100? Crap. Brick, iron, and cement may be building materials, but they are VERY different from each other. Horrible analogy. Just because we have hardly found any out of all of the zillions of fossils doesn't mean they don't exist. Occasionally one of those "transitional" creatures is found as well. How in the heck is a helicopter modeled on a fly? And where did this idea that they are more efficient come from? I'd like sources here. It's still not quite like modern birds, is it? It's also similar to dinosaurs in hip structure and such. Many people believe that dinosaurs were warm-blooded at well, or at least some of them. The ones that evolved into birds, maybe. Aha! You see, those birds died out! Evolution again! And it doesn't tell us when they died out either. No real information here. So teeth are so very important, eh? Tell me this: Isn't it possible that this was part of the evolution from dinosaur to bird? This is the eighteenth century here. Theory has changed since then. I can't be bothered to go further, as I have to go. I may drop by again and continue, but I suppose this would be enough for a while. -

Whoa - where'd yo get that sidebar from?

I've heard of someone litertally blowing their brains into their kleenex.... Apparently she fell down the stairs, bonking her head on each one on the way down. Miraculously nothing broke. For the next week or two her nose was constantly (literally) running. Finally she went to the doctor. They did a series of tests, and it was determined that it wasn't allergies or whatever: it was the lining of fluid around her brain leaking out. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeew

Fortunately I get to watch it - for me it should be starting in about 5 minutes. Whee!
-
Strictly speaking it's an "initialism."
-
Well then show us a link.

What about medical missions? Doing tests on medicine in space is a lot better - the drugs can form differently in weightlessness. Also, for example, burn patients could be treated much better. They don't have to sit on a bed, on their burns, they can float around with no weight on the wounds. Also humans can do a lot of things probes can't - they can do complicated experiments and such, repair their ship ingeniously, and so on.

Also if you use Firefox you can get Chatzilla, which is rather nice.

I think that would be rather fun. He would be very proud of it.

So you're inviting us to something you won't tell us the address of?

It was free when I got it a few days ago... Anyways, I've been having ideas for a huge forum (that's pretty much guaranteed to get members if I do it right) so I'd like it to have a good URL, not something like http://w89.freeforumboards.com/walawalawoo/forums/myforum/myforumindex/index.php or whatever. Rather http://www.myforums.com or whatever.

I have XP and it works perfectly. It does pop up with a security window asking if you want to use it, though.

Link? I can't find it.

A Painful Anecdote
Cap'n Refsmmat replied to Hyperlite's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Like the cartoon characters who run off of a cliff and don't start falling until they look down? It happens to me too. I suppose your brain dismisses it as "just another itch" or something like that and you don't notice it until your eyes tell you that, boy, that really ought to hurt. -
Magnetic Pole Reversal Theories
Cap'n Refsmmat replied to Hyperlite's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
Scientists now have theorized that as the shift happens the magnetic field would only drop by about 10%. So really, the only thing would be that compasses would be confused.
