Methinks it's down to a 4 now. (listens for Blike's sigh of relief) What luck to get Florida plastered a few times in one month. Stupid weather.

You need ReloadEvery. Then you just right click and set it. I think it's addicting, as my post count shows...

Why didn't they catch Genenis in mid-air like planned?
Cap'n Refsmmat replied to Kedas's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
No, they say it wouldn't. But they always underestimate the strengths of things, like submarines. Some subs have gone hundreds of feet farther than their crush depth. So they were just playing it safe. You don't spend a bunch of money on an exact replica to see if it breaks, you just have a weight tied to a parachute to test it. So how would they have known? -
Tachyons have negative mass, so theoretically (that's the key word) they would be restricted to entirely OVER the speed of light. Nobody can prove if they can exist yet.

Search engines work with what are called "robots." These robots automatically go through the internet, using every link they can find. They index all of the words on that page (skipping some common words to save space) and then put that on their server. When someone searches a word, and a page contains that word, it's put on the results list. To determine how high up on the list a page should be, they use an algorithm that puts the page most linked to on top.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3646154.stm Apparently they can salvage it after all. -
If you want a disgusting politician, try Ted Kennedy. He picks his nose and flicks the snot at others... Seriously. My mother SAW HIM DO IT while in a debate. (no, not when he was a kid, either)

That metal is not on Google. As far as I know it doesn't exist, because the only Dr. Waterstrat I saw on Google was a guy that did dental stuff.

Of course! Unless an Arab country/countries came and helped out, then they'd just fight against the evil non-believers until they were all dead. They believe that they'd go to heaven for it too. Not that all Muslims are like that, it's just the radicals.

Yes, that's true. You can't change what they did already. So I agree there. So true. So true that it's actually kind of sad. We're commited and we're stuck. Leave and the terrorists take Iraq back and then the whole effort is ruined. Instead of saying "There's too many casualties, we shouldn't have gone there!" you should try to think of a solution. Of course in this situation there is no good solution. I've thought about it several times. Leave and terrorists come back. If we get the UN and all of our allies to help, they'll still kill them, just less of ours and more of other people. That's still not satisfactory. You want to eliminate the casualties and the waste of money, but that is NOT possible. Go ahead, try to think of one.

Perhaps you have an inferiority complex and you want to have power over everyone. Actually I'm one of the people that thinks that dreams have no meaning. Nobody really knows what causes them or why. Some think they have meaning, others say that they are just your brain doing some strange thing (like doing something with your memory), or just keeping itself busy. Who knows?
-
I'm sorry, I guess I'm not typing what I mean. I don't think we should leave it to others to sort out. That's why we should quit griping and come up with solutions! You can't, as far as I know. The stupid terrorists keep popping up all over the place. They're like weeds. You can't kill them all. Even if you're the Roundup of countries, some of them go unseen and then POOF! there's hundreds more!

How about "Effects of radiation on pea plants"? My dad did that once...

Who said that they ever had mutual funds? Don't you think that, even if he IS re-elected, that by the time I have kid's he'll be gone? Pollution is going down, and the US is NOT the only polluter. There are at least 100 other countries. Bush doesn't make decisions for the world. The Earth is only entirely united in Star Trek. Besides, humans account to only 5% of global warming. Following the Kyoto Protocol, according to computer predictions, will lower the average temperature (compared to what it would be without it) by about .1 degrees. Pollution is also caused by cow farts and sheep farts, so why don't we regulate them?

There's a Darwin Award about that. Seems that some people thought the same, and the storm surge came in and ripped the roof off of the house. A load of them died.

http://www.popsci.com/popsci/computers/article/0,12543,600198,00.html That tells you how to make a picture to hang that will be controlled over a wireless network and will change to any picture you upload to it.

I know that there are certain types of crows that actually can make tools and use them. To dig bugs out of trees they make little hooks and such. They're very clever. I think it was Discover magazine, let me check... ah, this is a different site, but here: http://users.ox.ac.uk/~kgroup/tools/tools_main.html

I knew that. I'm just trying to say that griping is pointless. Methinks you entirely misread what I said. I didn't say that griping is illegal. I'm just saying whining IS NOT GOING TO HELP.

If anyone mentions global warming I'm going to shoot them. No, really, over here the weather is horrible. Cold. But anyways, it's really unfortunate that Ivan is going to plaster Florida. They just got Frances and now, before they can recover.

I'm surprised... according to sites on Google, a sugar rocket is actually less powerful than your average rocket engine used in the large amateur rockets that they make for competitions. You know, the rockets they launch that hit 500 mph and 6000 feet. Or, one of them, with the same stuff they use in the Space Shuttle booster, that hit Mach 2 and 30,000 feet (they needed an FAA permit!).

Michael Moore seeks to air F911 on the night before elections..
Cap'n Refsmmat replied to blike's topic in Politics
If Bush is a bad soldier, does that mean he is a bad politician? That he has the wrong views on key issues? Or if Kerry is a good soldier, and a Vietnam veteran, does that mean he can handle terrorism correctly? Their military service is totally irrelevant. What is relevant is the views on issues, their skills in politics, and so on. -
Yes, I was talking about mainly uncontrolable situations. Example: All of the intelligence reforms to stop 9/11. We go and say "Oh, we're going to fix it and now no terrorists will get in." It's just like a Microsoft product. You claim it's impervious to evildoers, and then--someone finds a way to get in. It's impossible to stop all of these terrorist attacks and make them better. Example 2: Iraq. First of all, to you whining about casualties: In the Civil War, 20,000 people could die in ONE DAY. Compared to 1,000 in Iraq over a year or two. And there are 1,000 heart bypass surgeries in one day. Instead of Iraq, shouldn't we whine about all of the causes of heart blockage and wage a (sort of) war against them? Shouldn't we stop suicide by providing free psychiatric help? Instead of whining about 1,000 people, .357%* of the US population, shouldn't we gripe about bigger problems? *Funny, .357 is also the caliber of a gun... interesting coincidence.
