Do you mean this? There are no other Politics-specific rules.

How so?

A 0.01 difference doesn't seem important. Could be anything; I don't know what iPhoto stores in the library besides the photos. The thumbnail cache is a way for iPhoto to store the scaled-down version of each image so when you browse through events it doesn't have to scale down each gigantic image on the fly. Makes iPhoto seem faster.

Like so: ARGH You get: ARGH Available choices are Hitler, R Lee Ermy, Bender, Bush, Cartman, Gir, Homer, Jesus, Zim and Zoidberg. If you can find a good picture of someone else, they can be added to the list. BUBBLES IN FORMAL DISCUSSIONS CAN BE VERY DISTRACTING, SO DON'T DO IT

Sounds right. Does iPhoto work now?

You could do it by modeling it as an 80-sided polygon rather than as a circle. I believe there are equations for determining the side length of an arbitrarily large regular polygon, aren't there?

Could you provide sources for these claims? The methods of the search are explained in this paper [pdf]: http://ti.arc.nasa.gov/projects/esg/publications/lohn_papers/aps2004.pdf They define a fitness function that uses gain, voltage standing wave ratio, and directionality to evaluate the antenna. That is all. What information was front-loaded?

Evolution has never been observed

Hm. How would one validate the action of something that transcends this universe? If it is outside of this universe, it is outside of our known physical laws, and no experiment can determine the laws it operates under. (We cannot experiment outside of our own universe.) As a simple example, suppose I've determined that the action of some simple physical system exhibits the influence of a cause transcending this universe. It would be impossible to falsify this hypothesis. Should another scientist fail to find the influence, I can argue that the transcendent cause does not always occur, or that it hides itself when experimented upon. Should it recur, I have no reason to believe it is from outside this universe rather than an unknown cause inside our own universe. In short: How is a transcendent cause falsifiable? -
Lies. (heh, I forgot about that BBCode, took a while to make it work)

ARGH blarghargharghargharghblarghargharghargh Well, it works now.

Do you know of any court precedent in which atheism has been deemed a religion?

It must require a commitment to something other than materialism, because as you've just agreed, materialism includes "intentional contingency and design" as options. You also have not answered my other question: Science in general has no commitment to materialism, only methodological naturalism. Do you believe science is correct in excluding explanations that involve supernatural designers or creators, because of methodological naturalism? -
Okay, I'll add this to my list of things to check once we upgrade to the latest version of the software. If you notice any common factors that lead to this, let me know so I can file a bug if it persists on upgrade.

Hm. What web-browser were you using? Did you copy/paste any of your post from somewhere else (another program or site)?

To be clear: are you worried about noise coming from surrounding businesses, or noise your own cafe will create that will annoy the neighbors? For the latter, there's a number of simple steps you can take. A lot of restaurants are loud because every surface is hard -- floor, ceiling, walls, etc. Sound just bounces around instead of being absorbed. Many companies sell ceiling panels and baffles designed to absorb sound to prevent all that nasty echoing. Here's just a few: http://www.asistoref...cal-panels.aspx http://www.acoustica...baffles.htm?d=2 http://www.acoustica...m/ceiling-tiles There are also similar wall panels and a whole range of other devices. You could also contact a consultant in the Institute of Noise Control Engineering's directory, though I don't know how that would fit with your budget. (disclaimer: I made INCE's website, so I may be biased. I am not a noise control engineer myself, though.)

It's a constitutional bar in some states. http://www.myfoxhous...tution-governor and according to this site: http://www.godlessge...stitutions2.htm

Well, let's start by seeing what you think the answers are, or what you know about the subject. What progress have you made on the question?
-
No, I don't think so. You'd have to copy the iPhoto library file to the new computer, then use this to have iPhoto load it: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1229

[math]2![/math] Should be fixed now. It was a bug in how the software handled exclamation marks -- I didn't realize IPB escapes them to their HTML entities.

Consider two objects with the same shape and size, so they have exactly the same air resistance when dropped, but one of the objects is twice as heavy as the other. Because of that extra weight, it will fall slightly faster. The force of gravity acting upon it will be stronger, but the air resistance acting on it will be no different, so it will fall slightly faster. Now, it'll eventually reach a speed -- the terminal velocity -- at which the air resistance equals the force of gravity, and the object stops accelerating and merely falls at a constant velocity. The object with a higher weight will have a higher terminal velocity.

Please do answer my questions in post #112 about this commitment to materialism. Why should materialism exclude intentional contingency and intelligent cause? Materialism -- or, more accurately, methodological naturalism -- states that reliable knowledge of the universe can only be gained through reference to natural causes and events. It does not state that natural causes are the only possible causes, as that is metaphysical naturalism, and not part of the scientific method. An appeal to a designer is not supernatural in nature unless one requires the designer be supernatural. If the designer is not supernatural, why does materialism/naturalism matter here? A methodological naturalist has no philosophical reason to exclude a designer from his studies. -
http://ti.arc.nasa.gov/projects/esg/research/antenna.htm The teleological information was "we need an antenna that has these performance characteristics, regardless of how weird it looks" and the algorithm was allowed to generate whatever designs it could. The success of the evolutionary algorithm in producing antenna designs more efficient and compact than the man-made designs is telling. How could design information be provided by the designers if they did not know how to achieve the performance the evolutionary algorithm achieved?

So you have read Hawking's book to see how he makes the argument? I wasn't sure.
