  1. Yeah but it was formed by water erosion due to melting glaciers, not just a little rain water here and there. Interesting theory though, but wouldn't experts have been able to tell the difference between the earth sinking down due to a fault and water erosion? I'm no expert on geology, I admit, but I still try to trust the experts.
  2. That had nothing to do with what I said, jsispat. I was merely asking if dust and meteorites could account for the earth growing, and I got my answer awhile back.
  3. Aren't there pool stabilizers and other stuff at the pool shops to put in that wonderful crystal blue water? Or is that stuff mostly to balance out the pH levels?
  4. Great! Thank you very much for all the info. And good luck on that physics degree, Snail. Although physics interests me greatly, I think all those equations are too far above my head to reach for.
  5. Mmm flat earth makes me think of pizza and other pies. Maybe I should eat something? I think flat-earthers should all be given a discount on tickets for spaceship two (?). Or whatever the new ship for space tourism will be when people finally start going up there.
  6. Wow, those are some pretty expensive courses to take in Canada! Thanks for the info and site links though, I will definitely have to look into this. Right now I am going for an advanced diploma in computer systems technology, but I've taken a few courses at the university level, and it's going to be a big goal in my life to eventually get a science degree (probably in biology). Science interests me enough to spend hours reading random threads on this forum in my spare time, so why not? Oh, and what's with the points beside each course on the Canada page that was linked by Snail? Could someone briefly explain how one would go about getting a degree from this university, please. How many points and courses would one need from each level, and that sort of thing. I'm used to very rigid programs where the university pretty much tells you all the courses you have to take for the program you are in, with not much in the way of flexibility.
  7. Well, I don't know how it is in the UK, but hopefully (not to offend anyone) there is more of an evolution belief than here in north america. Doing a quick google search, I found this website . According to it, a 2006 CBS poll showed that a whopping 55% of the US holds the creationist view over believing in evolution. Amazing. And actually, during the early summer of this year, when I went to Toronto, Canada to see my girlfriend, we went to the ROM to see a Charles Darwin exhibit. I was told that we were kind of lucky, because they almost didn't hold the exhibit for lack of funding because nobody wanted to fund something to do with evolution. Until, luckily at last moment, the united church, out of anyone, helped to fund it.
  8. Alrighty, thank you both very much, good advice. Yes, I knew that Carleton at least had some courses on cutv, because my chemistry class was filmed. But, I never really thought to look outside of Canada >.< Are there any good colleges then that would let me do a whole program online? Because I think the universities are leaning towards only a few courses here and there, if they are all like Carleton. So that would be a diploma as opposed to a degree.
  9. I thought genius was associated with lunacy. I mean, almost everyone who has ever been called a genius has also been known to be quite insane. It's a fine line of fun for everyone!
  10. I think real time is flexible. But if we all experience roughly the same movement through time, then it is hard to notice. What if different areas of the universe traveled faster or slower through time? Would we be able to detect that? Anywho, I think it has been proven that the faster you travel through the spatial dimensions, the slower you travel through the time dimension and vice versa. The whole twin paradox thingy. It causes slight differences in time synchronization all the time doesn't it? I mean with satellites and airplanes traveling at higher speeds relative to the rest of us.
  11. To hell with cooking food! Because people were afraid of a little bacteria on their meat, I now have a useless appendix. I want a working one! I want to be free and graze on grass and plants alongside my vegetarian animal buddies!!! Just kidding, I love bbq.

lol so true. I actually bought a curl bar a couple days ago after playing dungeon runners. I thought to myself 'I'm wasting so much time playing this game, it's not even very good. I should level myself up instead'. True story. True, but sad.
  13. Is the earth expanding, or gaining more mass? Isn't every planet doing the same? I mean where does all the meteorites and space dust go, if not to earth and other planets, attracted by our gravity. That theory is obviously lunacy though.
  14. Just wondering if anyone knew of any good online degrees that I could get in Canada? Accredited and recognized by any future employers of course. Something nice in biology or computer science/programming would be great, or bioinformatics or something.
  15. There has to be a limit though... if something is invented, it still has to be built, which puts a cap on the whole thing because things won't be built if the builders think that it will be obsolete before it hits the market. Inventions require money to fund their building process, and they won't be brought to completion if they are to be superseded before they can make any money for the inventor. Therefore we will never make it to this technological singularity imho. There may be many many inventions in this future time period, but only certain landmark breakthroughs will be produced. It isn't economical even now to have every single invention be built and sold to people.
  16. Well I don't have a doctorate yet (and probably never), but getting dizzy from a gravitational shift would have to do with the inner ear. To make you dizzy, the gravity reversal would have to affect the fluid in your ear, causing you to be disoriented and dizzy. If it could affect the fluid in your ear, then it would be able to affect all fluids as well as everything else on the earth and I'm sure someone would have noticed. Hopefully.
  17. Yes, I suppose it could just be progressing slowly. I mean, the man spent his life coming up with this stuff, and I'm sure his work is hard to sift through. Anything new in physics that is of any importance tends to be kind of complicated these days. But I want to go to the moon in four hours like your first link said would be possible!
  18. I heard about this and tried it out. I liked the layout, I don't end having to scroll down as much to find relevant search results that I tend to use, because they are spread out across the screen horizontally as well as down. One feature that I wish they had was the option on the homepage to change the general website search to an image search, as I tend to use that feature on google sometimes.
  19. I came across this article about Burkhard Heim and his theories. He seems like quite the interesting old chap, why have I not heard anything about him before? Have I been under a rock, suffering from amnesia? Or is his theories looked at as being completely ridiculous, because as far as I can tell from this article someone should be paying more attention to this guy's theories and finding some practical uses for them. Anti-gravity can't be totally useless, can it? Thoughts from this forum's experts? Or anyone?
  20. lol ok thanks, I think I might be able to put it back to together after, but how do I know if the gfx is imbedded or not?
  21. Hi, this may be a pretty dumb question for you guys and gals, but here goes.... I have a Compaq Presario V2575ca laptop with an ati radeon xpress 200m igp (128mb) video card, and I am wondering if it is possible to buy another video card to replace the one I have? I understand that my card has shared memory, and i have 1gb of ram, but I would like to get a dedicated card for some smoother gaming. It doesn't have to be a top of the line card, but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions as what to get? (assuming it would be possible for someone like me to replace the video card on my own) Thanks for your time.
