I thought asparin and alcohol together had a pretty bad effect on the kidneys and liver but anyway back to the myths. A tooth left in a glass of Coke overnight will dissolve - untrue, it has no discernable effect after just one night. A sneeze travels faster than the speed of sound - not true, not even close. Holding your breath stops hiccoughs - not proven, it just gives you something to do while your diaphragm stops spasming of its' own accord. Planes and boats are more likely to crash/sink in the bermuda triangle than elsewhere - statistics show that the occurence is exactly within normal limits Walt Disney was cryogenically frozen after his death - false although he didn't have a public funeral he's buried in Forest Lawn Glendale. The great wall of China is the only man made structure visible from space - this is quite a good one because many man made objects such as some airports and bridges are visible from space while the great wall is almost invisible due to the materials used to construct it. We only use 10 percent of our brains - fMRI scans prove this to be rubbish. Large areas of the brain are used for even menial tasks. The average person will swallow 8 spiders per year - This was made up by a woman who wanted to prove how easy it is to make things up that people believe! Water in a pan, sink, or toilet rotates anti-clockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere - the Coriolis effect will effect large fluid bodies such as weather patterns but the effect just isn't strong enough to effect a toilet bowl.

New Reputatation Function is Useless to me

Either way I can't see a difference. I like yt idea of making it numeric but that would probably involve changing the code. -

If anybody is interested this site simulates web pages as viewed by colourblind people. Just enter the URL you want to compare and select the type of colourblindness (I'm protanopic) - it takes a minute or two but it's very interesting for people who want to know what it's like. Try to find a site with pictures of nature - they have the most dramatic effect. EDIT: http://colorfilter.wickline.org/ - Oops! -

They're not too bad to be honest. With vertical ones I can use the position and the green has a lot of blue in it so it's easier to recognise. The biggest problems I have are with natural colours, trees, grass etc. and very small light sources, LED's and such like. -

That's just one type of LED. Blue, White and Purple LED's exist as do excusively green, red and yellow ones. -

Ooer! Server side includes but I guess it's a bit too late for that now. I agree that it's a big job to get everything changed now it's been made but maybe we can start somewhere. After all it's a legal requirement to add wheelchair ramps to public buildings and to provide braille versions of government documentation. The fix is so simple I'm suprised that nobody has implemented it. Just change the red LED's in the hopper to blue ones and carry on as normal - job done! -

Ummm - you mean to change a couple of gifs? I don't think that would be too tricky -

That sounds good. This site can be a pioneer of "Sensible Colour Scheming". -

I understand the reasoning it's just annoying that we continue to use these colours in a world that seems to have gone over the top with equal opportunities and access for all. I can't be an air-traffic controller or a military pilot, I need other people to tell me the colours on resistors, most computer games and LED's use a red/green cobination. Can you imagine how frustrating it is to read an instruction book that tells you to check whether your TV is displaying a green or a red LED? All they need to do is make one of them blue or move one and label it. All this because nobody seems to represent colour blind people when things are in the early stage of design. -

I have been doing that but it's hardly convenient. Makes me wonder why red/green is always chosen when it's the worst colour combination for the largest percentage of the population. -
I assume that the reputation graphic (the little box one rather than the scales) is meant to appear green/red depending on positive or negative reputation. I'm red/green colour blind so I can't see the status. Mainly because of the chosen colours and partly because it is so small. Is there any chance of you changing this to colours that can be more easily differentiated. 1 in 30 males have this same problem so it's not just for my benefit.

Cool cool, I stand corrected. So all we need to do is clear up the mystery of the Bugs Bunny Martian and we're home and dry!

On closer investigation it does seem as the second anomaly is overlayed over the first (either in reality or by image editing). I'd like to see the source so I can have a look at them.

There's about a million images listed in NASA's usual unhelpful way. Can you give us a hint on where to find them on the site?

It's the same rock!!! Next time, as Sayo says, choose different rocks. Give us some credit.

Universal Solution for Heroin Addiction
mossoi replied to Hitman47's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
Before I comment on this can anybody tell me how long the withdrawal symptoms are likely to last. I understand that one never becomes entirely clear after an addiction but the point where one can return to living a 'normal' like. -
Windows calc.exe gets it right : )

You might want to read up on sql injection as well - this is a more immediate security problem with php pages and mySQL db's. Also add error handling into your code so if there is a problem the error message won't give a chunk of source code and the db name to anybody. (This won't pass on any login details but it's still a possible risk as it may allow somebody to glean the name of you username form field for a login - this could then be used to break the security through SQL injection).

I also hear a muted television as a high pitched whistle, it is only just above the average hearing range so it's not uncommon. Mobile phone signals is another kettle of fish altogether. They are at a MUCH higher frequency 900 - 1800 million Hz - the range of human hearing is around 20 - 20,000 Hz. So it really isn't feasible you can hear them. More likely you are hearing the effect of the mobile phone transmissions on something else (like the noise you get from your computer speaker just before your phone rings). Do you have fillings? Some people can pick up radio signals through a loose filling so maybe that's where it's coming from.

I've set the option in my cpanel to automatically email me when somebody replies to a thread I'm involved in. It doesn't seem to be working. Is it turned off by default or is there another problem? It's quite annoying because I have to keep checking to see whose answered.
