  1. Description:- We associate heat with infrared radiation. And temperature is only intermolecular/atomic motion. infrared rays heatup a metallic rod and causes expansion. infrared photon has lesser energy than visible photon. case1: Take pure incident visible photon and shine it over a metallic rod for long time. question: Will the rod heat up and expand? case2: Now Cause fluctuation of visible photon over the metal. question: Will it heat faster? In any case does infrared photon heat metal faster than visible photon? If yes. why?
  2. We are used to macroscopic world, seeing discrete particles. Particles behaving in Newtonian physics and Relativistic physics. Think in terms of quantum mechanics. Everything that exists, matter or energy has particle nature (as matter, and you can count them) and wave nature ( you cannot count wave) When a single photon passes through a small gap [gap size should be near to wave length of particle], it acts as a wave of energy and not as a single countable particle. Hence diffracting to different waves (of same wavelength) and thus interfering with each other. A photon actually is a quanta (packet) of energy. It could be Imagined as a ball containing energy in classical physics. But here it is imagined as a stream of wave ( frequency representing energy of wave) So my friend this is wonderful world of Chaos where matter has both particle and wave nature and energy also has matter and wave nature. Another interesting fact:- You can see interference in more massive particles. Actually in everything you see. Matter is just concentration of huge amount of energy. So matter has very high frequency. Electron is a particle and shows interference. Even one electron shows interference. It has been done in laboratory. So moral of the story is, if you throw a stone with very high speed through a narrow slit, it will show interference. You May conclude that stone will appear beyond the slit as many stones of different masses, stone at the center being most massive and rest decreasing in mass as you move away from center. !!!!!But that is not the case!!!!!!!! Each time you throw the stone, The whole stone will appear beyond the slit in random places. If each time you note the position of the stone, and after many such experiments you overlay the positions, you will see a clear interference pattern! Conclusion:- Bright spots are High probability areas [High probability of appearance of stone] and dark are lowest.
  3. I believe, even if one photon passes through the slit, it will still show the interference pattern. because here wave nature of photon comes into picture and not the particle nature.
  4. I have planned to protect the instrument inside airtight glass casing. Only The complex shapes made of glass inside the instrument will be replaced by gel. A little color is tolerable. But not like agar gel which finally turns yellow. Some hair gels are completely colorless. But Is it possible to make a cheap(cheaper than shaped glass) water-based gel?
  5. Capacitor blasts because electrolysis of fluid takes place producing gases inside electrolyte capacitor. This normally happens when you connect electrolyte capacitor to DC closed circuit. I Loved blasting capacitors from my dad's broken PC motherboards, when i was small. LOL
  6. Is it possible to make a completely transparent, colorless gel based on water? I need it for an optical instrument, replacing glass with gel.
  7. You Do get the Light and Dark bands! Im doing the experiment right now in my room and i clearly get the interference pattern on my wall. Heres what I did:- -Bought a Laser Pointer, -bought two shaving razor blades. -brought blades edges very close to each other. -Fire lazer through small gap. -WOW an interference Pattern! Pattern is lot better than what it appears in the picture. I got a bad camera. LOL
  8. CASE:- In single slit experiment light from a source diffracts forming light and dark bands. Question:- Energy of light(from source) = sum of energies in all light bands ?
  9. I need to know how to test food products for adulteration. These days companies in India are mixing various chemicals in food product to increase production and serve bigger population. They just want to make money and local government and police dont do a single thing to stop them because they get bribe. Very few people and NGO have taken the task for testing food but considering huge population of India, they are very few. I had learnt some basic techniques back in school but want to learn as much as I can. some common food adulterations here:- 1-milk+fertilizers+water (we don't get pure milk) 2-fruits+carbonates (to ripe fruit faster) 3-honey+antibiotics+fertilizers (antibiotics pass down to honey from medicated bees) 4-Butter and fat products + dead animal fats ( dead animals include dead stray dogs, cattle, others) - horrible process done by boiling dead animals in large cylinders for hours 5-cooking oil +fertilizers 6- Many undiscovered adulterations. all adulterations in Indian food -> http://agmarknet.nic.in/adulterants.htm If you know about any incidence of adulteration in your native area, please do share.
  10. Once I saw on Discovery channel that scientists use twin telescope system to create a virtual aperture which is larger than sum of two telescope aperture. Anybody knows about this and how it happens?
  11. Thanks alot! Now i can sleep well.
  12. If you have ever come across a laser pointer, you might have noticed that looking at laser reflection on any surface like a wall looks strange. It looks like a sort of TV screen without cable connection. I mean it looks like a mixture of bright and dark spots. I hope i made myself clear. Any explanation?
  13. stationary charge produces electric field Constantly moving charge produces electric+ magnetic field accelerated charge produces electric+magnetic+radiation(photons) CASE 1:- Two charged masses A and B are put side by side and an observer too. All being stationary. Observer will only detect electric field from two masses. Case 2:- One Mass A starts moving at constant velocity away from observer while other mass B is stationary on the side of observer. Observer will detect electric and magnetic fields from moving mass A, and only electric field from stationary mass B. If observer starts moving at same velocity as that of A, magnetic field from A disappears, only electric field is detected from A. While B now produces electric+magnetic fields. Case 3:- Mass A accelerates away from stationary observer and mass B. Observer detects electric+magnetic fields and also sees photons emitted from A, while only electric field is detected from B. If observer accelerates at same acceleration as A, magnetic field and photons disappear and only electric field is detected from A, while mass B now produces electric+magnetic fields and Photons. EXTREME CASE:- Mass A accelerates, two observers observer mass A. If both are stationary both receive electric+magnetic fields and also See the photons emitted from A. if one observer accelerates with same acceleration as A, he doesn't see the photons anymore, only gets the electric field while the other stationary observer still sees the photons. <<<<Explanation please>>>>
  14. Exactly, Thats my point. You are not restricted to produce any em radiation as all are photons with different quanta of energy. But if you google and see some other sites, people are laughing on guys asking the same question. I don't understand why.
  15. People are saying gamma ray come from decaying nucleus and is different from X-ray of same frequency. But afterall its em ray, not a particle stream. Then theoretically if you go on increasing the quanta of energy of photon, can't you make gamma ray?
  16. The Profile Picture background image looks like genetically mutated man with demented shoulders and neck. I felt like I landed in biology section when i made my profile finally i put my image which doesnt look much different:lol:
  17. In physics we find building blocks of universe. Building blocks are called Fundamentals. Fundamentals are entities which either are never-changing constants or which cannot be broken down any further. Speed of light © is fundamental just like length(L) and time (t). c appears in many equations. c is manipulated in many equations by multiplying, dividing, adding, subtracting other values to it. in case of E=MC^2 C is manipulated just by putting the power of 2. But fundamental still remains C. But U are not restricted, U can make C^2 as constant. Only the simplicity of equation (also called beauty) will turn into complexity by introduction of new constant because now you have to remember another constant, and physicists love to use as less brain as possible:lol:.
  18. Time is another dimension like Space. So its relative just like space. suppose a father named A gets stuck in a blackhole where time virtually stops to zero. He wont age anymore. His son will age sitting on earth. If u pull father out of blackhole when son is as old as father, then son is seeing the past of father( youth of father), while father is seeing future of son ( old son). While for everybody else, both are in present! Its relative. COUNTER ARGUMENT FOR "FARSIGHT" Freeze Problem:- You have taken a complex specimen for freezing. namely biological system. Take two photon clocks. Put one in freezer other outside for as long as you want. Both will read the same time. Now put one photon clock on a fast moving vehical and the other with you. Time counts slower on vehicle photon clock than that on with you. Stationary Photon clock:- [please ignore dots (.)] ------------------------ .............O (photon) .............* .............* .............* .............* .............* .............* ------------------------ (mirrors) Moving Photon Clock:- ------------------------------- ..........................O ........................* ......................* ....................* ..................* ................* ..............* ............* ------------------------------- (mirrors moving -> ) NOTE: Each bounce counts suppose 1sec. Stationary Photon clock covers shortest distance (straight line) while moving covers longer hence time difference in individual bounces.
  19. Magnets attract by photon exchange, Masses attract by graviton exchange (This happens at the cost of energy stored in atoms. Gradually energy is consumed to produce these forces) (graviton is yet to be detected in lab)
  20. When you pull equations out of paper to reality, they become useful solutions.

  21. All Right! Thats gona help. Thanks alot.
  22. CONDITION:- If a torch emits a photon with high frequency( high energy "E") another torch emits a photon with very low frequency ( very low energy "e"). Question:- Which torch will get bigger thrust in opposite direction? My Perspective:- According to newtons 3rd law both should get equal thrust because speed of light is constant no matter what the energy. <<<<Please answer>>>>>
