  1. I have I just wanted someone to explain why you got the products that you get.
  2. Hey guys I want to learn how a simple reaction works. Could someone please break this reaction down and explain to me how the reactants become the products? I would like to be able to look at reactants (or products) and be able to derive the compounds or molecules created or made of... Thanks NaOH + Al + H20 ------> H2 + ? What are some hints if any to help me be a better future chemist?
  3. Not to take away from this article and I know its of topic... but please post one more time for the counts sake... ;P
  4. Thats pretty sweet. I am wondering as to what would happen say a 20m meteor hit our atmosphere? Would it make it to the grround or look like a flaming ball in the sky?
  5. Wow that is carzy, what a great idea^
  6. No, there would have to be at least 2 atoms. i.e. NaCl is a molecule formed from Sodium and Chlorine held together by a covalent bond.
  7. Hey guys just joined this forum because of my new love for science I have just started college and today we was performing a basic experiment involving separation of molecules in a mixture. This mixture had NaCl Benzoic Acid and Sand. In one step we turned the acid from a solid to a liquid by adding a base (which I have no idea what it was). Adding the base turned the acid into a liquid which we then filtered to separate from the mixture. Once seperated we added some HCL thus turning it back into a solid. My question is how exactly does adding a base or acid change the makeup of the molecule? Just curious as to how this works -thanks
  8. Congrats!!! I just started going to college and like you am happy to learn! Hope all is well!
