The High Voltage Twinkie Mmmmmm, plasma AND twinkie. -
Oh yes, I almost forgot. I also have about 400ml of ferrofluid and some large square neodymium magnets.

I made this thread so we can all trade extra scientific 'stuff' that we don’t need anymore. You can post anything you’re willing to trade here including elements, chemicals, and equipment. You can also post if you’re looking for something specific but don’t see it listed. If you no longer have the item to trade please remove your post. If you see something you want pm the person with your offer unless the person specified what they want in return in which case you should pm them and make the arrangements. Ill start by saying that I have: Several feet of magnesium ribbon, and lab grade aluminum, lead, and copper shot. About 50 .05cm x 1cm x 1.2cm reagent grade zinc pieces 3 0.07uf, 15kv high voltage capacitors (good for an extremely large tesla coil)

I just changed my wallpaper to this http://www.mleuschner.de/Media/QNBilder/dont_panic.gif

Just melt bismuth over a burner in some kind of small pot. After it’s fully melted take it off and let it cool. After half of it solidifies poor the rest off and you have your crystals. The hard part is knowing when its half solidified so you kind of have to experiment with the right time to pour.

But then no matter what game we pick we will be excluding some one. Of course unless you guys want to buy 50 copies of unreal that would be nice.

WHY would you submit a bunch of kids to extremely liberal propaganda in an already extremely liberal public school system? Do you really think that showing kids propaganda is going to help them think for themselves? That’s complete BS. If you’re going to teach about politics and current events you need to show both sides not just the side you believe in. That’s like a creationist homeschooling and sheltering their child saying everybody who isn’t a Christian is evil and not to talk to those people. And HOW are they not granting access? That’s ridiculous. Any one of those kids can go to the local video store and rent it.

Well I got an email from ferrotec today.... "Dear David: The display cells contains an R&D ferrofluid that is not sold in bulk. It is $10.00/ml and our minimum order is $100+ on a Visa or Master Card. Best regards, Diane" If I bought the same amount of this fluid as I had bought the other it would have set me back $10,000. Oh well, It looks like I wont be getting any more money out of ferrofluid, for the time being anyway. At least I made back more than I paid for it. It doesn’t matter anyway, if I had figured it out I may have made a few dollars before somebody else figured it out and undercut my prices. I'm not sure why I made this thread in the first place. Of course I could be lying. I could have figured it out and at the moment mass producing millions of ferrofluid display cells. I suppose I should have sent the email before wasting all my time trying to figure it out. For all I know it would be violating some patent anyway. Bleh.

I swear you’re out of your mind. I would rather stare at a wall... which I do quite often.
-
Can’t you just use another outlet with a different breaker? Or you could probably use two outlets in parallel. But would you really want your first coil to be that big anyway? Theoretically my coil should draw 3 amps.
-
Are you talking about my tesla coil or the the pictures of the coil 5614 posted? My coil shouldnt draw more than 4 amps but I have not measured it because the fuse on my meter is blown. The pictures 5614 posted im sure draw at least 10 amps but probably much much more.

I rather like twinkies. -
Hahaha are you serious? I would be worried about denting the toroid, those things cost money.
-
What are you guys smoking? Everybody knows that if you play computer games you dont need a life, much less a job.
-
Hey, send me some too. You could buy gallium in bulk then distribute it throughout sfn.
-
Lol, in 8th-9th grade we would all rub our butts in the plastic chairs then stand up and touch people on the back of their neck/ears. It was hilarious because giant sparks would jump across. One person got suspended because it left a red mark. Those were good times.
-
I Don't think it was me but I had that site already bookmarked along with hundreds of others. Maybe we should make a list of all the sites on tesla coils.
-
Go read the thread on tesla coils and get to work then. Those are some powerful coils though. You can make a plasma globe with a flyback and a light bulb.
-
Are you talking about a plasma globe? van de graff normaly have spun aluminum toroids.
-
aww, you should have made it your self. It's a lot of fun. I bought one too though a long time ago at a little rock store in santa fe not really knowing what it was.
-
私はクランベリーソースを持つアナグマを食べたいと思う Hrmmm...
-
Nice... That sounds like somthing I would do.
-
I would pick something I enjoy talking about/explaining and also something that my teacher wouldn’t understand, making me look good. I would probably pick tesla coils, but that doesn’t work for everybody.
-
I have not seen it but I heard it was extremely liberal and should therefore have no place in a public school. The only reason I have not seen it is because I'm not going to put money in the pocket of Michael by renting it. I would definitely want to see it though, just to see what it’s all about. Actually I think it’s appalling that they would even consider showing it in a school. Talk about biased, brainwashing, and ineffective public schools. Hrmm, Maybe I'll steal it.

I thought it was quite lame. I'm assuming that’s why the jokes were added. Me after reading the jokes thread:
