I said that 50 posts ago! Sheesh! That would be my tesla coil... Unfortunately it’s impossible to measure voltages that high so 500KV is just a guess based on how much air it can travel through. I didn’t measure the resistance of the pair because it wasn’t critical to keeping my multimeter safe.
-
What do you mean 'know'? It doesn’t 'know' to go anywhere. It simply travels the path of least resistance. A tree standing 10' above a pool is MUCH less resistant than the 10' of air above the pool. It doesn’t have to think, "gee, I wonder which path would be easiest for me... hmm, I think I’ll pick the pool.... oops, wrong choice..." It isn’t 'more likely', It WILL travel the path of least resistance. Of course air temperature and wind speed and other variables impossible to predict could change this. Lightning is not an animal. It can’t 'pick' any path.
-
Do they really ask? Say you're a kid who's doing a chem course at home.
-
Possibly but I seriously think its unlikely that being in a pool when its hit is going to effect you. Remember lightning will take the path of least resistance so why on earth would it travel through you? No you’re not changing you’re area. A large pool is going to act as if it’s grounded. I have never heard of 150 people being electrocuted in a pool because of lightning, have you?
-
No... Its $20/ounce, thats not so bad; 28.34 grams.
-
If the person is completely submerged then they would be Immune to the lightning. I think the ground would probably be more dangerous because you would be standing higher where is in a lake you can not stand at ground level. It’s impossible to tell whether the lightning would travel through the water or land without more information. How about a pretty picture?

The seeds or the kids?

One day a pear named Fred decided to go on a walk. Fred was enjoying himself when the sky darkened. Soon after that Fred was struck by lighting. Thankfuly Fred survived but he wanted to make a suit that would protect him if he was ever struck again. He put a strip of aluminum tape from above his head to under his toes. He then Put the probes of a voltmeter deep into his head and toes. He then took another walk and was soon struck by lightning. This time he didnt feal a thing and the volt meter never read above 0.4V! OK, obviously I was a bit bored, but hey, Fred and my expensive multimeter survived a 500KV simulated lightning struck OK with some very large holes in his ‘faraday’ suit.

Then all the original survivors from after the merge come and vote for who they think should win. This is the point that cripples the people who play it as if it was a game.
-
Well on every show there are normally two challenges. A reward challenge and an immunity challenge. A reward challenge can be anything like food, blankets, tools, ect. The winning tribe of the immunity challenge doesn’t have to vote a member out. After a certain number of people are voted out the tribes merge and there can only be one winner of immunity. Also the whole show is a game. Its all stratagy. The goal is to not be voted out.

It's in CBS. I think it’s pretty good. Half the fun is making fun of the stupidity of the people in the game. People go into it with the mindset that’s its going to be just like life. When in reality it’s a game! It’s always the people who go into it knowing it’s a game that win.

I got all mine from ebay.

Yea, I love it. Unfortunately none of my friends have decent computer so they all play x-box, which I don’t have. The online play is great because of so many user made modules. You could also play the single-player campaign online with friends and save the game so you could come back to it the next to you guys decide to play. The thing about the never winter nights is you don’t necessarily have to know the D&D rule set. You could go through the entire game without knowing any of the rules. Although, I think, it adds to the game. If you just read the users manual that comes with the game you should be alright. Also I don’t know if I mentioned this before But Neverwinter nights also has a really cool toolset. I think I have had almost as much fun with the tool set as the actual game.

Heres some instruction: http://unitednuclear.com/smoke.htm Its says 60/40 there.

Unfortunately it’s becoming increasingly hard for Americans to buy anything from the USA. Untied nuclear is the ONLY site that I could find that would ship magnesium to people outside of schools. Ebay has also stopped allowing the sale of some chemicals like sodium... I would also probably spend all my money there if I had any.
-
Just out of curiosity why did you pick those elements to start with? Ebay. United nuclear also sells is.

Ooooooh I am a fellow collector. Let’s see... I have Indium, bismuth, tin, Zinc, Magnesium, Aluminum, Copper, and lead. I have them sealed in glass tubes. I just started recently so that’s about it. Those where metals I just had lying around my lab. Most of my money goes into my high voltage hobby though so its hard to get money to buy new elements.

By the way I think theres another thread somwhere about that book. Or at least it was mentioned somwhere else. Try doing a few searches.

Has a book disproving science ever 'stood up"?

Depleting our Environment - We should Panic!
Lance replied to NavajoEverclear's topic in Ecology and the Environment
Ok well then you can be the first to throw away your computer and all the crap you dont need and wipe your ass with plastic toilet paper. The ONLY way that this stuff will stop being made is if people like you stop buying it. Dont buy toilet paper and they dont make a profit so they stop producing it. Start wiping your ass with toilet plastic and you support the people that make it and what they stand for it. The problem is people are NOT willing to give that stuff up including you. -
Depleting our Environment - We should Panic!

Considering our cars put out about 3% as much pollution as early cars I think we cane come pretty far. It seems The REAL worry is overpopulation. We have come a LONG way since the industrialization phase and I don’t think people understand how much has really changed. The problem is people are caught up on perfection. They want zero pollution. Also, we (the US) try to discourage third world countries from industrializing. It seems we would rather have everybody else uncivilized and dying of disease than pollute the environment. We have also stopped sending as many treatments for malaria and the likes because protesters have decided that they also pollute the environment. Should we put the well-being of the environment above the well-being of humans? -
Hmmmm, I don’t even have the game but I remember when I used to play Neverwinter Nights I got on one day and downloaded the patch (it asks whether you want to) and when I logged back on 90% of the people where still using the old version so I had to wait weeks before everybody had the update. Are there dedicated servers on Halo? Maybe they have not reset since the update.

You can make small neodymium magnets levitate on bismuth too.
