  1. Im right-hand left-eye, but I picked right-hand right-eye... will a mod please change that? thanks.
  2. Well the voltage is about the same if not higher... But they draw a lot less current. This thing wouldn’t be able to supply enough current for an incandescent bulb.
  3. Umm... I just got a roll of magnesium ribbon in the mail. Why dont you just order some of that?
  4. I am attempting to build a working Battery-free flashlight flash light. It would be powered by coils around a pen tube with a rod magnet inside. When you shake the tube the magnet goes up and down reversing polarity inducing a charge in the coils. The only problem is I can’t seem to get more than 0.9 volts out of the thing. I need at LEAST 3 volts. Not to mention that the current output is pitiful. The coils I wound are PERFECT. The layers are on top of each other with no overlaps. There are somewhere between 500 and 1500 turns. I can’t even begin to guess how many. So does anybody have any ideas? I have attached a schematic.
  5. whaaat? 555 Timers are rated up to 1Mhz. 60Hz is slooow. That’s the frequency of the US wall outlet. Flybacks resonate somewhere around 20khz-40kHz. I would find an old TV or computer monitor and tear the flyback out. Then just build a 555 or single transistor driver to drive it. By the way I was thinking of having some 555 driver boards custom made. They would be useful fro multiple applications including driving flybacks. Would anybody be interested in buying one if I have them made?

  7. I don’t really care whether there are more of them but I definitely won’t waste my time reading more of them. I also think it makes this site look bad so I voted NO.
  8. You would have to specify what you used for electrodes and what you used to make the water conductive.
  9. Well what would you say was a good movie?
  10. Also I don’t see why you don’t just go to a dumpster (or your garage) and find a suitable transformer. If you know what they look like there are tons of them everywhere. Although you would never find one rated at 8 or 10 amps or whatever you wanted.
  11. He said AC applications not transformers. And most transformers are rectified but it would be easy just to tear the diodes out.
  12. I hope so. The release date keeps geting pushed back. Heres what Martin himself says about this: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/ click on "about a feast of crows" at bottom left.
  13. I *think* 7 books. but dont quote me on that.
  14. Well the series is not finished yet. There are three books out so far. A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1) - 864 pages A Clash of Kings (A Song of Fire and Ice, Book 2) - 1040 pages A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 3) - 1216 pages Interesting trend.
  15. You didn't like the sixth day?! Whats with you people??

http://search.ebay.com/x-ray-machine_W0QQsokeywordredirectZ1QQfromZR8QQsatitleZx-rayQ20machine They don’t have to be registered. You don’t have to do anything.
  17. I got EQ free with a laptop and I played it for about an hour before I decided it was crap.
  18. I just realized, there is no need for argon... helium is much easier to find and just as inert. When I get some more funds I’m going to go up the party store and rent a tank of helium. Arg... I also just realized, they probably add oxygen to the gas to prevent kids from suffocating themselves... bummer.
  19. Umm.... cesium will explode on contact with air too. Instant oxidation anyone?
  20. Did you read the thread title? How does it stand up as an RPG? Not well? Bummer.
  21. Doom sux0rs.
  22. Are you actually serious about this?? It doesn’t matter what size the hole is. Everybody has already said it’s not the faraday cage it’s the skin effect that protects you. As long as there’s a straight path from above your head to under your toes it doesn’t matter. By the way, I would NOT recommend intentionally attracting lightning with a lightning rod above your head… but that’s just me Edit: Oh wait... I was looking at the wrong page... I don’t think this is still relevant. Was looking at post #80.
  23. I love all of biowware's RPGs, Neverwinter nights is simply a great game. Marrowind was a good game. Arcanum was interesting. Icewind dale II was fun. Dungeon siege was a light/fun game.
  24. I read the hobbit and the lord of the rings a while ago... I thought it was the best fantasy book I had ever read but then I read some books by other writers and realized the lord of the rings wasn’t all that great. If you’re looking for fantasy I would recommend the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. I would definitely say its better than the lord of the rings. It’s also written in this time period so the book is in modern English. The scale is much larger and one of the most admirable things about the book is there is no good or bad guy. The series spans generations so people die. It’s not like Spiderman where you know the hero will turn out OK in the end. People die. Although, if you have problem with depression and the likes I wouldn’t recommend it.
