Humans - are we going anywhere.
-Demosthenes- replied to alext87's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
We still change!! Read mine and moleke's posts dangit. -
He took what he wanted, did what ever he wanted. He took the panama canal, his whole roosevlet colarary (spell it right??) on the monroe doctrine was bull.

There have been a lot of threads about the validity of Evolution, and well I'm going to post all the evidence that I know and from my biology texts so that there will be no confusion. I wouldn't like to over-step my bounds, but I would like to invite others to post on this thread other evidence or insights that I have missed (I hope to just cover the basics with this first post) and we could possibly use this as a reference in the future. What is Evoltuion?? Evolution is the change of a population of a species over time, or if you prefer the change of alleles over time. Evidence of Evolution Fossil Record Fossils provide a record for species that have lived in the past. Often they are in sediment layers where the deeper the layer the older the fossil. In this way scientists can see how species change over time. For example scientists have observed the change of oyster fossils (in shell size) through time on the layers of sediment. This provides conclusive evidence that species change over time. Biogeography and Comparative Anantomy Animals from different continents but similar environments are similar in structure. A very good example is the striking similarities between placental mammals (wolves, rabbits, ect.) and marsupials (Tasmanian wolves, wallaby, etc.). These species have Analogous Structures, where they have similar appendages ect. because they evolved in similar environments. This provides evidence that species evolve to their environment. Certain species also resemble each other because they evolved from a common ancestor, they have Homologous Structures. The forelimbs of cats, bars whales, and humans are all similar in how they are put together and work. This provides evidence that species evolved from common ancestors. Embryology and Molecular Biology Species that are more related have similar stages in the development of the embryo. Species that are more related share higher percentages of nucleotide and amino acid sequences of DNA than more distantly related ones. Further all living things share the same genetic code (DNA/RNA). This is strong evidence for evolution of different species through modification of ancestral genetic information.

Elect another TR! That old Trust Bus'in cowboy.

Billions? No where near, high estimates are at 300 milion. They were elected. Is it weird that politics run in some families?? If you don't want them to be senator or president then vote against them. If you don't like the electorial college then vote for reps and senators that are against it.

Yes, it's not failing capitalism, there are some socialist elements to it. I've seen no evidence that the government is spiraling into totalitarianism.

They're so cute.

Dude it's way depressing music IMO, it's really slow. LET'S GET SOME HOT HOT HEAT OVER IN HERE!

I've always wondered... Is it flogging molly like the action "I'm flogging molly today" or is it describing molly, "Oh dear, here comes flogging molly to flog us all". I think Carbon Leaf is like a pop version.

The cure scares most innocent children like myself but David Bowie has a cool song with Queen!!! Under Pressure!

Me too, exept basic knowlege of organelles. I like evoltuionary theory as well, and hardy-weinburg was okay, it was really simple The specific parts about photsynthisis and repiration like glycosis and the crebs cycle ruin me. I can fumble through enzymes, and some other parts I have a problem with. It's definitely the small stuff, the cemistry (I don't even know if I spelled it right )

Celtic Rock??? Carbon Leaf???
-
I'd have to agree with Vending dude. That's what I learned in Ap Bio. The Body that contains the seeds that grows from a flowering plant. Strawberries are too fruits, they "contain" seeds! The mature ripened ovary of a flowering plant I beleive.

True, I'll check 'em out. I forgot about The Killers, okay, I'm not a true indie fan .
-
Dude! Incubus! Even though I'm goin' all indie rock and roll lately. The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Hot Hot Heat, and Carbon Leaf have been my favorite for a while.

HAHAHA, there were 4 or 5 versions of me there The sad part is that we all go annually but its always the same convention, weird
-
You in the US? Because if you are then we got the same test I think. I designed the experiment okay, I should have learned more about chromosomes and angiosperms, but I know about the immune system. I think I could get a 3. PS: They didn't have that one

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. I got passed Hook, but I'm stuck on level 3 on Apprentice. In the previous ones it was always in the page info or the page source, it's beyond my skills now...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define%3A+emotion&btnG=Google+Search I like that definition.

If they won't let you make a rocket that goes harmlessly in the air, why would they let you make a rocket car that rockets accross the room??

Utah. I concentrated on the labs last night, the test is in about an hour.
-
Well I'll have fun in the morning! Goodnight.
-
I have the AP Bio Test tommorrow, any advice??

Leaders in the military knew that this was a possibility. Thats why there are thousands of people lead through the camps to witness what had happened. Thousands of people saw it. As far as numbers go, theses soldiers don't know, but thousands know and saw that it did happen, and on a large scale.

Who was the greatest scientist or inventor that ever lived ?
-Demosthenes- replied to vrus's topic in Other Sciences
I thought Einstein would be popular, he was billiant. Benjamin Franklin was great because of his science combined with fame as a hero of liberty. Socrates was pretty cool. Darwin contributed a lot to modern bio. Galileo Newton, oh and Tesla should be in the running.
