To be with other people who are also pissed off and hurt and thus ameliorate the pain 4. I am a little peeved that this sort of community action and spirit was not shown so much before the polls - then we might have had a different result. I believe the gluon as messenger boson of the strong force, the Z and W meson of the weak, the photon of the electromagnetic, and the graviton of gravity are all virtual particles in the normal run of events. Some extreme circumstances can reify some of the gauge bosons - but I would presume this would be in (at least pairs) to conserve spin, momentum etc

Love the analogy with trisection. One tiny quibble is that there are still tiny lacunae which experimentalists have not yet closed - the experiments to prove Bell's Theorem starting from Aspect and moving onwards have covered nearly every possibility; but, physics being physics, every so often someone comes up with an even more outlandish scenario which might allow a tiny bit of locality within the predictions of qm. I am not sure if all the loopholes have been closed - and more importantly if everyone agrees that they have. I have just glanced at scholarpedia on the subject and they don't mention any loopholes so maybe I am misremembering. Would you trisect an angel so that you can use fractional angels when counting how many go on the head of a pin?

Sur Are you sure about this? inter alia I read this in terms of puzzle as o * n * e = 1 t * e * n =10 and t*w*o =2 If so then (unless so of the letters are fractions - which would be silly) o =1 and n=1 and e=1 - if any of them are not unity then the product would not be one this gives the second line reading t*1*1=10 t=10 which is pretty annoying as ten is not a prime factor (but you didn't say prime factors) but this then gives 10*w*1=2 w cannot be an integer (it is 1/5) You get the same internal contradiction with nine - i must equal 9 but that screws up six

I would break it down and grok what bits do what for different portions of the number line; ie big negative, fractional negative, zero, fraction, big positive x^2 is always positive, so -x^2 is always negative so e^(-x^2) is symmetrical about y axis the multiplication by x means that the expression will change in magnitude by the same amount on each side of the y axis BUT that the sign will be flipped for negative x. ie f(-x) will equal -f(x)
