  1. The possibility of living forever could occur but the complexities would be immense as inevitably tumour cells would form in different areas of the body and end up kill the person, there are several possible solutions to this problem one of course as is done now is surgically removing them and radiotherapy, but that would just increase the likelihood of tumours occur somewhere else which would be significant in living forever. A second approach would be to "reset" your organs, this could be done by killing off the old cells and then growing organs, bone marrow and other requirements using stem cells harvested from you as a child when the DNA has had less chance of mutation and even creating stem cells with samples of DNA. Then the organs could be transplanted into you, but there would still be a ridiculous amount of complications like brain tissue and blood vessels which would be very hard to replace without serious damage. Of course none of this is currently possible, but the very basics of some of those ideas are being develop currently. Another process which maybe feasibly possible a long time in the future is downloading the information out of your brain and putting it into an inorganic or organic life form, but that is probably hundreds of years off if it is even possible at all.
  2. What are you talking about, you are just making things up and claiming them to be fact, it is well known that the first forms of life is thought to be a hyperthermophile and before that universal ancestor most life is thought to be based on an RNA world and therefore nothing like plants.
  3. Indeed, what types of cancers in the ear are there? Of course lung cancer or oesophageal cancer, however it would make sense that it would effect ear cancer.
  4. It has sugar as well, most of the other stuff in it is just for show.
  5. Where as I completely agree with your statement, I don't think birth control pills should be given out at a school, at a chemist yes, but at a school condoms should be given out as that is promoting safe sex given people the pill isn't as it does stop STDs it is more likely promoting unsafe sex but you don't end up with a kid after it.
  6. Indeed, I can't really think of any enzyme that would be stable unless it is some sort of acidophilic enzyme, but I would still be catalysed by pepsin and most likely partially denature within the saliva. How does acid reflux occur from a lack of acid anyway, I looked on google and the only answer I could come up with didn't really make any sense or have anything to do with acid, just that food sits around and rots.
  7. Not really considering one person smoking makes the whole bar smokey and in every bar at least one person would be unless it was banned. So every place in the world then...Especially if you are drinking as you will just forget whether or not you can smoke in a particular bar. Well they will most like enjoy the food better now they can taste it properly. No their not, I know plenty of people who don't drink who will come out to a bar and play pool or watch football. You seem to be basing your whole argument on the premise that if the majority of people want to kill themselves then the rest of the people should just shut up and die along with them.
  8. Yes, but your not forcing everyone else to drink with you.
  9. When did I say they did? You seem to be so defensive of your point that you are arguing against the opinion of no one here. Not to mention pushing gay people into some special category like they are going to have different social parameters to other groups in society.
  10. Well done, completely missing the point that a percentage of people will act slightly differently around friends compare to if they were on there own, to detriment or enhancement of their personality depending on the change or your point of view.
  11. I would say most gay or straight people would like to join a crowd, I don't think many would say they would like to blend in.

    Animals and Fungi

Yes, made of poly-N-acetylglycosamine which is completely different to the polysaccharide cell walls of plants, so for all intents and purposes irrelevant in terms of sequence homology, due to it using completely different enzymes to create and synthesis the monomers.
  13. Yes whatever, most people just try to fit into a group and act typically "how they are supposed too" whether or not they are really like that. Some people will be like that must the majority I have chatted to while out and about seem to be trying to fit in as much as they are like that naturally, as most people will do in any group of people. I think you will find that you are the one who is being overly defensive and coming out with ridiculous statements, I never said that some people wouldn't have characteristics like that, I was saying that a percentage of gay people overstate those characteristics more so than there true personality would show.
  14. Because that has nothing to do with being gay, most rock fans wear T-shirts for bands, they are supporting the band, or are acting like the band cause they play instruments or enjoy the music, they are hardly trying to be like "the gays" they are just moving into what they think they should be like. To be fair they are just as bad, as are all the other posers out there.

    Animals and Fungi

To look at it quite simply fungal cells have greater similarity to animal cells, which of course as you said is based off the genes involved. Some examples of differences in plants cells are chlorophyll, cell walls(of the same polymer), vacuoles all essential to be in the plant subsection, but are not found in fungus or animal cells.
  16. Indeed, I would say this is very true, many gay men take more pride in their appearance than the average straight man, by going to the gym and using facial products and so forth, I couldn't say why this is, but it is a more feminine quality due the social trend of women wearing making up and dressing up for the guys. What annoys me personally is the guys who dress and act gay all the time, I mean really there is no need for it, to me it just seems some of them want to stand out from the crowd and are just like the posers who obviously think there is a certain way gay men act, which obviously isn't true.

    good passwords

The simplistic way of doing it is just take a phase of 10 words and take the first letters of each word and stick some numbers/symbols on the start or end.
  18. If you add a catalyse, which would have to be intravenously injected into your blood stream (how fun would that be to try when your drunk) it would break ethanol down to ethanal which is far more toxic to your body, especially not confined to the liver cells where further enzyme catalysis can occur. Then he consumes a diuretic substance, well the closes to hand is the vodka, might as well start on that. In all seriousness it really isn't a great idea to try and dehydrate yourself further after being so intoxicated you think you need your stomach pumped, however much water you are drinking. A stimulant won't do the opposite effect to a depressant and if you get that depressed maybe drinking in the first place isn't the way forward. Adding adrenaline to the mix is probably a good way to giving yourself cardiac arrest due to alcohol already having the secondary effect of raising the heart rate due to vasodilation occurring. By the time you are that far gone the best solution is either to throw up or drink a load of water and eat some, fatty and salty food, or both. Yes the vast number of people who die from MDMA... The amount of people die from MDMA is ridiculously low each year. Taking a diuretic wouldn't help as the reason people drink water is because they feel thirst, it doesn't stop urination, people consume too much water and become hyponatremic, the ideal situation would be to given them a glucose-saline solution, but I don't think most clubs sell that.
  19. Indeed, there is homology between eukaryotes, with many conserved regions in specialized proteins, the first posts implication is a fallacy anyway, because one of the many principle of genes is they can mutate so in the end you pass on what is yours to the next generation but given time what is passed on is no more yours than your sons or your dads, for all intensive purposes, it is just what has become from random mutations that have had positive or little effect on the phenotype of the offspring that are passed on.
  20. Go find some reputable evidence of your assertion and then this conversation can continue.
  21. To be fair it is based on a logical assertion rather than actual evidence, if you damage the cells (with heat) then you are going to have to replace those cells which will cause more chance of mutagenesis due to more DNA replication, what empirical evidence would actually show would be pretty harder to tell for all intensive purposes all it is doing is speeding up the process of aging. Lot of people do drink hot tea and i'm sure it has some effect but I would suggest it would be very small, no more than drinking coke or fruit juice. How I also have no evidence to back this up.
  22. What are you even talking about, how would blood group have anything to do with social function, i'm sure many of the population don't even know what their blood type is. I has no relation to social function, it is purely a biological adaption that has occurred over time, different areas of the world have different proportions of people with different blood groups by chance. The problem only occurs between mother and baby, if the mother has had multiple children who have are RH+ when she is RH-, it is the equivalent of having a booster shot after you are vaccinated, memory cells already exist and can differentiate faster and in larger numbers, causing blood coagulation. A and O don't coagulate, plus as GDG explain due to the large molcular weigh of IgM it can't pass across the placenta and the baby has its own fetal haemoglobin due to it needing a lower oxygen dissociation constant. O doesn't exist as a type it is purely a lack of a type and a person can pass on an O blood type while being A/B.
  23. If you isolated each fragment from the serum you could use the MR or electrophoresis, but this wouldn't conclusively show it.
  24. Certain wild mushrooms are dangerous without alcohol in the mix at all, the toxins can cause hepatic failure.
  25. I'm sure he can wait another day, he has already been waiting 5 years.
