I was specifying any type of fruit juice and that is my $20, you go away and make your own free money, lol. I mean you could just eat lettuce as that is 90% water anyway.
-
You are just talking absolute rubbish, go get a bag of oranges and put them in a juicer and see if you can live off it with other food. Citric acid in no way negates the amount of water in fruit. Gerbils would be a good example of this due to there very efficient loop of Henle meaning they can get all there water back.
-
Well that is just a bunch of crap really isn't it, let me think of several examples where you don't need water with the food i'll start with soup, or oranges or any fruit and vegetables. Most meat also contains vast amounts of water as a percentage weight as well.

A lot of the research was originally done in bacteria so you can work out where the promoters and and terminators are and knock out the gene and see what happens in the mutate strain, of course this only works if it isn't a essential genes. However then you can make point mutations within the gene and see what is down regulated. Once this is found out you can try the crystallise the protein and use x-ray crystallography to see its structure and eventually also do this with its substrate bound, however this normally requires a mutant strain of the gene so you can get a locked conformation.

That is a complete fallacy and for someone who claims to be trained in educating people about this subject you should at least know the science behind it, there is plenty of blood in a mosquito to infect a person it is just extremely improbable due to it being external to the blood, the immune defences as well the fact that HIV isn't really that contagious compare to many other viruses. The same is true for saliva some is present there but that would then have to have direct contact with the blood stream and then it would still be a 1 in a million chance of infection due to the low amounts. With the correct medication the concentration of the virus within a infected persons blood can be reduced to a pretty negligibly amount, making infection by any mean unlikely.

Most enzymes will start to break down at 45C, but they will break down anyway due to the charge destroying all the comparatively weak electrostatic attraction within them.

I think the best option would be to use various gel chromatography, to purify the protein based of size, charge or any unique feature of the protein. If worst comes to worst you could always raises antibodies against it and attach them to beads within the column, hardly an economical way of achieving purification though.

It is just due to the net charge of the ions, NH4+ has a single net positive charge and NO3- has a single negative charge so to balance the charge you take one of each a -1+1= 0. SO4 2- has a net negative charge of -2 so it will take twice as many NH4+ ions to balance it -2+1+1= 0.

The others are all right.

Detecting clogged arteries
Psycho replied to Cap'n Refsmmat's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
That is the symptoms of so many conditions, that it is pretty useless to go on those factors, they are a the symptoms of a hangover. I believe they would normally check your blood pressure while looking at your over all physique and age to determine whether you were at greater risk of atherosclerosis. -
I am going to presume you have a list of things you have to label as for all intense and purposes a sphere could be a lot of things. I would think that the larger sphere is actually the lysosome and the small one the secretory vesicle, however the large sphere could also represent a peroxisome. Normally vesicles are placed near the golgi in diagrams as to represent where they come from.

The NaCl one is fine that is just common table salt. NH4+ (if it is only a change of 1 you don't need the 1) and NO3- works exactly the same way. Just as extra information the charge is based on the group of the element so group 1 have +1, group 2 have plus 2, but when you get the left hand side of the periodic table with 5 electrons they are 3- as it takes less energy to get 3 electrons from say 3 Na+ ions rather than lose 5. So N has a charge of 3- and H has +1 so +4-3= +1 and the same idea for the nitrate ion (NO3-) but in that case as nitrogen is close to the middle of the periodic table (excluding the transition metals) Oxygen is more electronegative so is the negative ion whereas Nitrogen is less electronegative (therefore more positive) so works as the positive ion, this only occurs with ions in the centre of the group 5 elements commonly though.

The main idea is to look into whether the two solvents are miscible and then think about why it might have occurred from that stand point. The idea of density is along the right lines.

I saw it but only counted 12 passes, so I guess the bear counted as one.

There is no land there so the wind just goes round and round the world and isn't slowed or warmed on the land like in the northern hemisphere.

Indeed, I don't think it is possible for a virus to pre-date life, due to this fact and if it did, it is irrelevant as it was never evolved to be a virus it is just coincidental.

Yes.

Indeed, the whole concept of how amino acids fold thermodynamically is poorly understood and there are millions of medically important proteins out there.
-
That isn't strictly true, it is based on the density of the receptors in a certain area of the skin and i'm sure that that isn't the same for everyone.
-
It is due to the levels of ATP compare to ADP and AMP being keeps so far from equilibrium, this is the reason it works as an effective energy store.
-
Of course is it, it is effected by everything as it never worked in the first place, the real test would be prove you can do it in the first place as Jill said.
-
You say that but I think most new ideas, would get thrown out by a computer that had the function to separate them due to them generally being unfeasible, I mean look at the internet no one would believe how big that would be or even things like mobile phones I mean it would seem people could live without them now. Something creative also has to come at the right time such is the case with music, too early and everyone will think its weird, too late and well it isn't very creative then.

Why can't we see molecules with the naked eye?
Psycho replied to seriously disabled's topic in Chemistry
No you got the whole concept completely wrong as they aren't like pixels, firstly you have two eyes which vastly increases the resolution, also there are two different types of cells meaning it would change in different light levels as well as being based on how fast you are moving due to it not actually being a camera. There seem to be lots of answer to the question on the web however none which I found seem to take into account the number of cells your eyes have which would seem a vitally import integer to have in the equation. -
Research is posted in journals not books and E-books they just summarize it normally for education purposes or to simplify it and no one wants to give the product to the consumer cheaper they want to sell it at the equilibrium point that is the point of profit maximisation. Not to mention that an FDA approval only doesn't hold merit in crackpot "medication" that crackpots take.

Climate Change: Worse than we feared?
Psycho replied to bascule's topic in Ecology and the Environment
I fail to see why people don't adapt to the idea of climate change, it isn't really bad for them, it is stuff that will normally save them money such as making there house more energy efficient or doing more miles to the gallon, it just seems they are fighting against it for the sake of it we are going to run out of oil at some point in the future so why not use less if it, nothing to do with saving the environment, it is just common sense, but I suppose that is above some.
