. . The bottle of Prosecco is still on ice. And I am still thinking hard ! One thing that has become clear to me , is that the operation of the universe uses both techniques to maintain its functioning in the areas of :- namely:- areas of the above are clearly precise, predictable, ,can be defined by mathematical systems, but other areas are not based on deterministic principles,causality,formulated systems but rather " if it works, it prospers", "if it fails ,it declines" the universal mold ( the sum of everything that has gone before ) ,dictates the possible achievable goals.. Both systems seem to work in tandem to keep the Universe going in the way it does. Perhaps this is why we have two different parts to our brain, two different sexes etc. .

Some of those Lecture ideas were based on a lot of Assumptions, and Philosophical ideas which may or may not be true. I believe our Freedom to make a Free choice is what makes us Human. So for us to create an INITIATIVE is to change the world ( even if only a little bit. ) Or some times creating significant changes. The process starts in human consciousness and ends up in the EFFECT on THE WORLD (whether small or large an effect ). . HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS . The Following are an attempt to illustrate Artistically the Flow from Human Consciousness in a non directed state, A ) bumbling along with all sorts of thoughts. B) starting to sort Ideas C) Clarifying which choice directions to go D) THE REFINED CHOICE DIRECTION IN ALL ITS BEAUTY A) :- B) :- C) :- D):- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the context of the Lingual theory of everything we have used in this instance Human Consciousness to Create the Initiative by making a directional formulated choice and taken the first step in the direction of our initiative . . Now THE ANYTHING can happen in one of the previously described ways :- .~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quote To apply this model to a NON HUMAN CONSCIOUS activity then clearly all this choices, selection of direction and first step take a slightly different preamble. Although if you are throwing the object personally, you might well go through some of the previous thought processes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Say an object that is set moving according to Isaac Newtons First Law . Clearly an initiative is taken to accelerate an object from 'rest' to 1 meter per second and then let go. The choice has been made . The first step is taken ( Accelleration to 1 meter per second ) . If there is no reason for it not to happen ( like gravity or a brick wall) the thing will do its 'anything' for ever. And if there is a reason for it not to happen ( like gravity ) , it will take the path of least energy or resistance . ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -

I am inclined to agree with you that there must be some connectivity between all regions of the Cosmos, even if the far reaches differ by some awesome degree. I have added some definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary, not that what was defined in the past is sufficiently current for modern ideas. I am not an expert myself on Multiverse , but am interested in the idea of different possibilities/probabilities/alternatives opening up from the future, and how these can change our present and then our past as we make these CHOICES. I, personally think we do have free will. Those last two lectures were arguing for ' we do not' I think, unless i missed something. In our own little domain, which we can have large influence (twin towers example you give ), We are making REALITY . And as an earth full of choosers we are making an EARTH FULL of REALITY from the entire spectrum of possibilities. Now whether that can include Multiverse I do not know . A colleague Split Infinity is an advocate. I personally can see them as part of All the Possibilities, But the moment a choice is made I see the choices collapse into ONE REALITY ( The present) and ONE history. (The Past ) no longer alternative possibilities. Split will probably bounce me all over the cosmos when/if he reads this. Mike -

INTERESTING LECTURES I Have doodled up this Diagram while Listening to put CHOICE in the context of LINGUAL THEORY of EVERYTHING . Note that the Past is set, History has taken over. Able to make pointers for the future. No longer real . . Reality is in the Present .NOW. where probability and possibility is being turned into something concrete, REAL. . The Future is the entire spectrum of possible realities, probabilities from one end of the Cosmos to the other.Not yet realized into the Present. According to the [ Oxford English Dictionary ] Cosmos is defined as the 1. The world or universe as an ordered system 2. Order, Harmony, a harmonious system .3. A Plant of the American Genus Cosmos characterized by it's showy flowers. Cosmology is defined as : the theory of the universe as an ordered whole, and the general laws which govern it.Also a particular system of the universe and its laws. b. that part of metaphysics which deals with the ideal of the world as a totality of all phenomenon in space and time. The 'world' as mentioned here is not to be viewed as the globe we call Earth but rather the infinite totality. -

Over the last day or two I have been giving a lot of thought to the points you raise , and generally this issue of choice , free will choice, from the domain of everything. To do this thinking I realized I needed to be somewhere that is deep in my personal being. That is the Coast, looking out from a cliff somewhere ,over the ocean. I could pick, go south and hit the south Devon coast looking into the English Channel , or go North and look out from high cliffs and look out at the Atlantic Ocean . I choose the latter and drove out across EXMOOR toward the coast. Had I gone south, my life now would be different. But with free will I chose North and headed out rising through a primevil forest toward the moor. The journey into a part of everything ( all possible choices ) [ my part of a multiverse ?] began . It gets interesting ! [break] I find driving on empty roads , very assisting in thinking. Starting into the woodland trail into the valley leading to Exmoor, I happened on a Bar , just opening for sunday trade. No body else was in. I explained to the proprietor of my desire to travel north to the coast. Should I go at the fork in the road, left to Lynmouth or right to Minehead ( both on the coast looking out at the Atlantic ) . He said " All depends what you want" finding he was of a scientific bent/interest I explained I was taking part in a ' journey into a multiverse experiment ' . . Rather than throw me out, thinking I was wacko, he posed my possible outcome depending which freewill choice I made. [ranging from various maladies to changes in my life pattern. I left and made my way up through the prime evil forest, across the desolate moor to Lynmouth, across the Headland coastal road to Porlock . I made a couple of sketches and am now off to Exeter to Paint them Up the multiverse adventure waits.( Break ) -
Quantus is Latin for Quantity. ( but a quantity can be anything from 0 to infinity.) There is, or was discovered by a Mr Plank one specific quantity that seemed to be at the root of things. That is related to one oscillation of energy ,( like one wave in the sea . standing waist deep in water, one oscillation is the wave coming up to your chin, down to your knees, and up to your waist again) one complete wave. It is not possible for the sea to give up incomplete waves. Only 1,2,3 .....106 waves etc . So Plank found out that the energy coming out as heat came out as discrete numbers of waves of energy. He attached a discrete constant to this process ( known as Planks Constant ). The reason this is so is because all or most atomic things relate to or are WAVES. You can not have naturally incomplete waves . Hence things atomic tend to go in "chunks" called QUANTA meaning 'a discrete unit quantity of energy' . Going off a bit like a machine gun. [ this ............................. ] often called photons of energy. [ not _____________________ ] All this is the beginning of Quantum Mechanics Is this a start ? Mike

Limestone, Dolomite and Calcium deposites
Mike Smith Cosmos replied to Mike Smith Cosmos's topic in Earth Science
The issue of the Cambrian explosion of life as identified by Fossils has and do raise questions . Sometimes this is explained away by the introduction of bones, shells, teeth and other calcified remains to life forms, making previous life forms seen more as chemical remains. However the points brought forward by the authors of this report point to other reasons. Not the least of which is different atmospheric, and water conditions that prevailed due to massive dissolving and activity on vast regions of exposed rock strata , giving rise to different conditions over a billion years of earths history. I think they are stating that Calcium may well have featured in this huge anomaly , amongst other things. Apparently there is evidence of massive missing layers in the Grand Canyon and elsewhere. There is a more complete report in the attachment below. But I suspect more will follow. The Report of the new theory ref above Better Complete link Attachment :- mikedoc.pdf -

Well I will have a go. but ' i am caught between the devil and the deep blue sea '. Because if I come up with what i feel is a reasonable solution, You will say , "Not Valid , No Maths, Not Physics, Not science , Dogs and Ducks, you can not be serious " I am not saying I am going to come up with dogs and Ducks, But the universe is rather filled with Animals Soils Stars, water and all of natures lovely things , which only exist by Physics , quantum behavior, electron chemistry Tulips beautiful ..this That and the other. So I am likely to call on one of these as a Physics understanding of how things work. What I might well not be able to do is give you figures. Figures are numbers and numbers infer Maths. oops! Well they are not yet . If ever ! There are no causal links that can be calculated in these instances. That is it . The location of an irregular object within a container . No Maths will describe its location, at a particular time. [a dried pea in a bottle.] The location of a bee within an atmospheric weather testing balloon . No maths will describe its location or can compute the time to reach a particular location. The location of a mosquito in the Wembly Stadium in England with its all weather covering in place, at a time t , or the time it takes to reach a location.. ( x,y z ) I understand an electron in an atom is roughly the same ratio of a mosquito in the Wembly football stadium. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The location of an electron in a particular energy band within the atom , at a particular time t or the time it takes for an electron to be at a specific location. I believe the universe is full of gaps of not STRICTLY able to be mathematically calculated, Possibly statistically , but that is just a ruse to try and place it within the sphere of maths. MATHS COMPUTE NO MATHS COMPUTE MATHS COMPUTE Quantum physics is full of these mystery gaps , the natural environment is full of these gaps, the universe at large has many gaps . In other words part of the universe can be modeled with Maths , Part of the universe can NOT be modeled effectively with Maths [ no good saying statistics is maths ,( that is just semantics ) ] Now you guys have a dilema. You either say NO Maths NO PHYSICS . You are left with a lot of uncovered areas. Or you say Yes there are gaps, and we are going to accept that BLUE SKY RESEARCH WITH CONCEPT/ HYPOTHESIS is going to have to lead the Way. ( even without effective maths. ) There is a lot here, I do understand and agree with. Its just this particular Dogma ( No Maths Not Physics , Not Science ) that I am trying to say is dangerous for limiting Blue sky research. And because of this I am suggesting we do not put Only Maths as the guiding light into The Borders of the unknown.

Rather Like This is better :- Than this which appears to be the case :- Maths priority has over-run ,pushing aside the concept thinkers ! Taking their place at the frontiers of Physics . Taking over the territory of exploration and blue sky research. Instead of their role in support, validation, precision when necessary and prediction when possible. Then :- a quote by Bernard Lovell of Godrel Bank telescope in Uk The Future of ideas ....is in ....jeapody ( cant spell either )

On the Talk Talk News Page . Astronomers hoping to get a glimpse of a giant asteroid will need a powerful telescope Published: 3:30am, 31st May 2013 Updated: 5:49am, 31st May 2013 An asteroid more than one and a half miles long is due to zoom past Earth later - from a far-off distance. The big rock called Asteroid 1998 QE2 will keep a safe distance of 3.6 million miles, or 15 times the distance between Earth and the moon. You will not be able to see it without a powerful telescope. It is believed to be about 1.7 miles long, or about nine times the length of the Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise ship. But that has nothing to do with its name. The letters and number in the name represent the timing and sequence of the asteroid's discovery in 1998. Astronomers getting their first close-up glimpse of the giant asteroid found a surprise bonus rock. A smaller moon asteroid is circling the larger space rock, an unusual but not unheard of space phenomenon. The smaller rock was discovered on Wednesday night by astronomers using radar to look at QE2. The moon asteroid is about 2,000 feet wide. That's about average for such near-Earth objects.

Yes but we are not talking about one gyroscope , we are talking big numbers like your 'bizzillionth' ses . Anyway they are probably not gyroscopes [but acting in some respects like gyroscopes in partial arcs adding up to total mass], but clouds of buzzyness , all doing partial arcs in different directions . Nonetheless having angular momentum.
-
Ah yes, But I want to see it the other way round. I want to see the idea being discussed first, The Concept developed and all the 'argy bargy' Having come to some form of mutual resolution of the 'Crazyness ' Then the mathematichians go off and do there best to get a fix. I do not dispute occasionally the maths alone will point at a phenomenon like Pauli and Dirac with neutrino and antimatter, But I have a mind that is the exception rather than the rule. And I would expect occasionally NO maths may be found , at least for the moment. But nonetheless a way forward is still possible with Concept followed by hypothesis followed by Experimental proof YET with NO maths yet found to support the Hypothesis and Experimental proof. In other words Physics need not be held up by the maths, They can come along later sometimes, not always. If I get you to agree on this point I deserve a drink.

The reality comes AS IS . Then Guess at what Reality is comes First as a verbal Concept (model ) First Surely Then you try to create a mathematical model that best suites either reality or your conceptual model of reality and compute . Second. Surely . You are attempting to remove Concept, Hypothesis totally out of the picture , which is precisely what I fear ! What happened to the past masters on top of the Accropolis in Greece, Debating and Philosophising . Thesis and Antithesis

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Circular motion v Strait line, motion ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think I can GUESS The Feynman guess , what might be the something special in a circle. ! The mass ( Newtons first law ) wants to continue in a strait line. Why ? Inertia . Its this Inertial Frame raising its head. Pull the mass , with its inertial frame out of its straight line , it does not like it. It resists with a force and an accompanying acceleration from Newtons second law F=ma. FACT What else does not like to be taken out of a status quo, THE GYROSCOPE of course. ( trapped angular momentum -Inertia). So where is/are the gyroscope/s It is obvious , staring one in the face . The SPIN the entire mass is full of SPIN However or whatever the spin is maintaied ,complex or whatever its still angular momentum SPIN EVERY PARTICLE = EVERY BIT OF MASS = Inertial MASS All the particles are comfortable in their own particular spin , maintained while going in a straight line, Try to pull them away or out of their strait line and every spin does resist proportional to the amount of mass involved. Got it ! Its INERTIA contained in the mass ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IT IS THE SPIN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EUREKA ! The Mother Load As it is a Vector quantity . The sum total over a complete revolution in a circle is Zero . Sustained momentum ( Rotational Inertia ) I leave for Italy in 2 days Sunday 2nd June for 10 days MIKE
I really need to get a hold of this push to move maths from the previously 'Percieved public perception' that maths was ridgid , equation based, calculable, deterministic, reliable, predictive,precise etc etc., into the areas of non predictive, non deterministic, no equations, probabllistic, statistical , dealing with huge numbers, like the sort nature uses to get thing done, which I have been attempting to describe in terms of emergence, genetic algorithm, mold type solutions, with ' Dogs and Ducks ' which you say is not science , because where is the formula, where is the exact prediction?. Surely you cannot have it both ways !, Or as I say, that you are inferring Maths is taking over Physics like an infection taking over the whole body. You will kill the body ! I have been saying there is an area in Physics for Language, discussion of conceptual ideas, hypothesis, speculation, exploration of ideas , which are not ready for the maths and possibly never will be, but are none the less part of physics ,( experiment Yes) and see how the universe is, yet to be discovered and understood, hopefully. Prof Cox Whom I quoted in another post , recently gave a lecture to Manchester University quoting and showing a clip from Richrard Feynman where he was spelling out "the scientific method" where IT MUST START WITH OBSERVATION AND A good GUESS ,. Then you move on to experiment and proof or falsification of the GUESS. Then if the experiment works look for any maths that can be applied. link http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/74345-why-are-physics-speculations-so-popular/page-2 two thirds don this page Lecture by Brian Cox 7.02 minutes into lecture clip on Feynman Lecture by Brian Cox Brian Cox If Feynman has any credibility, after all he did do Quantum Electro Dynamics and won a Nobel Prize. Who is looking out for the EARTH as a whole
Mike Smith Cosmos replied to Mike Smith Cosmos's topic in Earth Science
Thanks for your comments. It does not bode well at the moment though if NOBODY is looking at the whole picture. I know James Lovelock was and he has been trying to alert people. But a) he is aging (90's) and b) he has sort of been 'a voice in the wilderness' Not that individuals have not read his books, but there does not seem to be a World Organisation/Institution that is taking up his Concern and the challenges in haste !. -
