.As evidence for my suggestion ( we are only in the Lounge ) , I have been reading up the explorative work , physically undertaken by the author of this book ( shown below ) of DAVID ROHL . He followed the physical trail of previous explorers ( Enmerkar and Lugalbanda ) explorers of Summerian Historic sites. The Map shows the Potential site For Eden . East of Tabriz. Map from WORLD ATLAS ( showing location of Eden ) Quote from ' Book ' Syria is a bit across to the left , and the rivers Tigris and Euphrates emanate out of the region illustrated of the valley East of Tabriz . These rivers being the natural flow of Summerian Civilisation down through the Syrian, Iranian , Iraq historic land areas. These three regions having been the seat of much of recent histories wars . The valley East of Tabriz can be seen to be enclosed on three sides. To the north a range of mountains , to the south a range of mountains , and to the East a large High mountain. . I think my main reasoning was . If things as a whole ( bedrock ) , did not ultimately get better , -: Then we would not exist in the depths of a beautiful and working Universe. If it were to go in the other direction , relentlessly , like ' bedrock things go to worse , then the universe would have gone into ablivion years , millennia , ago . And we would not be here to detect its presence . Is that not so ? Mike

It is rather ironic that the recent attention to the horrific , 'goings on ' , in The Middle East , From a physical distance point of view this happened, not a stones throw away from the location of very early Civilisation . I remember from my history lessons ' Messapotania ' and ' Summarian ' featured centre stage with the advent of 'Writing on stone tablets ' and thus the start of Civilisation . Solar radiation . frequency spectrum . And outside this window it is not possible .( with the exception of the other window around visible light and infrared) . It would appear some short and long wave radio waves are possible BUT there is a cut off point as the waves get longer and longer and the signals get attenuated at this point and below in frequency ( longer wave length ) . Need to find out what those cut off statistics are ? Seems like ( 20- 30 metres is the cut off edge ) ? That is interesting because 20 to 40 meters is one of the most open frequencies ( spread ) for long distant communications on the Amateur Radio spread of frequency allocations for their use , although they have allocations right up to the other extremity of the 'window ' in the centimetre region . Ah ! Well that is ' just ' , a design issue . A piece of cake , if you know what you are doing . I agree there are a few major obstacles to overcome . For a feasibility study ! start at the top and work down . Or start at the bottom and work up . Or both . Top down : start at the sun , and list what makes up its radiation ,at satellite height . Bottom up . Look at the individual requirements for a) central land based nodes acting as distribution points for heavier energy consumption . b) look at requirements for mobile equipment . c ) investigate the two activities of long wave energy transfer 1) ( satellite to land based station , high consumption fixed location . 2) satellite to mobile low consumption devices , anywhere . Test the feasibility of all links ( including practicality of equipment. Principles of operation . ) for a start . Investigate the conversion of raw sunlight to long wave energy only ? ( the principle thereof ) . They are only waves after all . Ps . I think that I amazed the kids that I taught , when I demonstrated some school demonstration equipment . We would go out on the playing field . The sun would blaze down and through a series of devices ending up with a motor and a disc attached . .I suppose it could be compounded by the fact that there is such a large world population . More people , less space . The pressure is on . All the more reason to seek help. But I suppose , if you do not think there is not any help there to seek . Then , where do you go now, when the problems are insurmountable. When my car goes ' silly ' with not working , I go to the man at the garage . Where do you suggest we go , because now nobody seems to know , " how to fix the cranky behaviour of the world ? " you can't just say " oh just leave it , it will sort itself out ! " it's not looking very promising right now ! . Well there was supposed to have been , but we ' screwed up ' What happens ' if you are Wrong , and there really was an original set up for mankind . Forget about all the animals , they could have come from all sorts of directions . But what if there really was an introduction of a Human species who is now accountable for his/ their actions . And the instigators are returning to see what sort of success ' we humans ' have made . I don't fancy the task of explaining our past and present behaviour ? . Namely , the capturing " by responsive resonance " energy carried by sunlight toward Earth. Then retransmission at LONG WAVE FREQUENCY , utilising the feature of RESONANCE during the retransmission process. After the reception of SUNLIGHT at various frequencies (The re transmission of sunlight energy : ) , There would need to be an energy conversion system , on board the vast platforms . The required energy , having gone through a frequency conversion process , would be re radiated , in the manner previously described at Long wave frequencies . This is then to be re radiated from a resonant system so as to make available energy in a redistributed system ( at its lower frequency , namely Long waves . Also in a more focused directed concentrated form , to be received as required at the centralised collecting stations , similarly by resonant reception antenna ) . In ADDITION , The low power systems required across the entire surface , would be by a different resonant and antenna system . I cannot avoid using RESONANCE , as it is so fundamental to this proposed system . And we have to accept that resonance , has been , and remains an important ,permanent part, of natures systems. As , is required by many active systems , RESONANCE , is at the core of this proposed system . In this case the Resonant Frequency needs to be in the ' Long Wave ' region of the spectrum . Such a system of resonance is not normally occurring in nature as we are talking in large distances ,even for a single wavelength for one complete cycle ! However , with a certain amount of ingenuity , this resonance may be possible ? Mike

. I think bridging that gap ! So that , the automated system would bypass any requirement for entering leading " words" , and then looking for images within pages and pages of ' deep scientific ' words . Only to find you are lost . Rather by automated ' Image ' production, you would in effect bring into being a ' Translation Device' , whereby scientific words or phrases would bring Images to the receiver . Obviously there would need to be encorporated some form of selection criteria ( bit like a volume control ) , otherwise every simple word would be translated into an image . Namely ( A detector capable of detection ' scientific or mathmatical ' gobble- de - goop ' ) , then translate that content - Visually - I think this could be very useful in conferences where specialists and less specialists are present ? As requested :- Original heading :- SEARCH ENGINES - is it, or are they ? Fundamental to most of intelligent machines , including the human being, animals, insects, viruses, cells ? Supportive to OP: - The principle of SOMETHING that ' Sifts' information so as to provide a solution; ' identifies ' a specific piece of knowledge; or 'filters out ' a possible required action. This appears to be fundamental to a lot of modern computer or I- pad technology. Does this mean , ' that they are ', also essential to ' Life Itself ' ? --------------------- Claims :- . .. That there is a question, that there may be in existence , (?) , mechanisms ( described as search engines ) in both computer systems ( small and massive ) as well as in animals of many sizes ( small and large ) and all sane human organisms. This is submitted as a Question to encourage discussion around the subject ! . ---------------------- Building a focused argument :- : I am bringing a focused argument , based as by my usual method , a mixture of engineering experience , observation , reading technical literature, thinking the subject through over a long period of time . Then moved share and to make public my current beliefs on the matter , as best as I am able . Argument . I have witnessed and taken part in the computer revolution , from work on PERT ( progress .evaluation, review , technique) as a management tool for large projects on computers Room sized. I have spent 8 years in university studying around electronics to degree level ( BHons satellite communication ) . I have taken part in design and manufacture of interface devices for home computers and Personal Computers ( PC,s) and their link across country by BT telephone lines. I was exposed to the principle of ' search engines ' as the link up of home computers pc's moved from BT prestel to front end Information Providers who housed huge banks of computers and memory banks . As the use of this World Wide Web grew and grew . I remained very much at the Personal Computer end . I saw the services mature as information providers worked along side the hardware . The rest is history , and we work , all of us , utilising the services of the large providers in their satisfying OUR requirement for information contained world wide across a giant network of information . Some of this information MAY exist on individual web sites that many of us have set up . Right through to the massive sites like CERN , TO WHOLESALERS of Products. This is out there , but where is my requirement lodged, either as information , instructions , product , or whatever. This is where the major IT companies who supply the SEARCH , will search and find your REQUIREMENT . ( then you can have your required information , service, product , etc. supplied) . : :I have noticed an amazing similarity , between the above described development . To aspect of behaviour Amongst the computer based system above , and the way human beings have ordered their lives over the last few Centuaries . Today's society is surely satisfying our enquiries , mental stimulation , and bodily desires , to a reasonably large and significant amount. ----------------------- This is the subject , with claims , and structured argument that I am submitting . Well if life ( animal and human ) have found it benificial to ' be' and exist , like they do . Namely to come up with desires, then go seeking them . Rather than just sit there , interacting in specific ways .( as matter ) . Then search they must to find their aspiration . Today millions , billions of humans are using the World Wide Web to find their aspirations . By the extra ordinary search engine that is embedded in the system . A useful cross illustration, is that of a recent descovered , concerning what we have happening in our ( 2 halves of brain) . It would appear we take in more information than we can immediately handle , on a day to day basis . As we go to sleep a mechanism , whether it could be called a search engine ?..? Both halves of the brain communicate via the narrow channel , between the halves. Overnight they solve many left over enquiries. In the morning you wake up with some answers. . I am not sure that I am suggesting , anyone or any system is copying another. For all I know both computer systems and biological systems have come to their own conclusions . I am remarking , there is a similar approach at work here : Namely :- both life and computer systems generate a void. Namely we have , or feel something is missing. We do not know what, where, which, how , a certain something is. We require some means of acquiring our ' missing thing ' . So I suppose I am noticing both the World Wide Web and the realm of LIFE have both acquired a similar method of finding our missing ' thing.' Have they not ? .Well I do understand now what you are saying . But I find it rather odd that this type of behaviour can not cross the the discipline boundary . Namely " searching " . Surely the principle of searching crosses ALL boundaries. You can search for an improvement ,if you are doing science, biology , woodwork, music , whatever discipline you care to mention surely . Or have I come off the rails of free will somewhere? I have noticed that there is a type of behaviour going on in animal and human kind , that is not dissimilar to what appears to go on in software systems like the World Wide Web . And am asking if this has any value in our understanding the philosophy and science of of living ' THINGS' ? . Both science and philosophy have improved over the years by :- ( a) searching for improved ways of looking at things ( philosophy) and (b) searching for improved ways of doing things ( science . ) And history shows that both these disciplines have improved over the years by undertaking this ( search and find , adjust , and improve sequence ) . If you want examples of that , I am sure I can drum some up , as they have been my observed reason for asking the question . In fact , I would dare to suggest , that this gentle searching and flexibility for change is what distinguishes " animate " from " inanimate matter " although , I would have to acknowledge human kind seem more amenable to change , than animals ! Or are you saying it's not centre stage word use in pure physics and biology . .....that particles , matter, planets, Suns, galaxies, etc follow the fundamental laws of nature that we often discuss here on this forum . Give or take the odd ' spat ' , here and there. But there is no particular search , as far as I can see . It goes off predictably like clock work . The second group ( animals , living things , including humans ) work in a different way ? At least I think they do ? They initiate desires , true prompted by random things ? But they are not all moving about like zombies, or atoms . And when it comes to humans surely , we sit back in a rocking chair and think " now what shall I do today ? I think I will go walk the dog and look for some good views to paint ! O.k. Well let's generalise a bit . A good half of what goes on on earth , is set and prescribed in the laws of nature . A lot of what is described on this forum are the laws of science that go off as or by ' rote ' . Or often by maths formulae . This is not a search , this is more a determined operation , by these said laws of nature. rocks , earth, metal, gases etc There is however , another half, here on earth . Namely , all of the animal kingdom. This could be said to include , bugs , virus , worms , larger animals , birds, fish etc , Including , humankind . It is really this second half , that I wonder if it could be said to fit into this " search engine " status . I hear myself and other discuss or feel the initiative or desire to seek out a certain something . Animals go off looking for food , they do not appear to move about as ' automatons , do they ? With them and ourselves , we seem to initiate an idea from somewhere , then we go off looking for it , do we not ? Some things are more difficult than others . Is this whole process with Animalkind including humans and virus , not what we could refer to as a " search engine " ? An initiative comes from somewhere! And we have strategies for seeking , until we find what we are looking for ! Is that not so .? And would it be wrong to compare it to a ' Search Engine ' ? Mike
