.. -- 1.3 billion years ago, the event occurred , that's 1,300,000,000 years . Then 3 days or so ago the effect passed the detector . Then was gone. Good job someone was looking in that direction . Presumably , if the same sort of collision happens anywhere in the entire 3 dimensional sphere of space going back a whole 13.6 billion years and the arrival time ends up next week , we will see another blip ? Obviously galaxies were not ready immediately . But after the 300,000 year re-combination plus a little development time for the first generation super massive stars formation , and their supernova ending after a short time. There on in 'anything goes' , so to speak . And can/ will be , seen , gravitationally if our resolution is up to it . If we can see with our enhanced ' Gravitational eyes ' the sky will be ablaze with pictures of the development of the whole Universe. Like a ' Drive in Movie ' .. Extraordinaire ! Mike

. It escapes me at the moment , how far away this event was ? Was it a million light years ? If so 5 years in 1,000,000 is amazing coincidence ? Mike

..I must apologise for my garbled question. Put it down to waking up, on a Sunday morning , still half in dreams . I am trying to get to the bottom ( in my mind ) of the apparent coincidence of the events. (1) the recent observation of the gravitational waves . (2) the event itself ( two black holes colliding ). In view of the time taken for the gravity wave to arrive .? In reality these two events are separated in time by a considerable amount of ' actual time' . It seems a remarkable coincidence that these occur as and when we are looking ( over the last few years) . Or am I missing something . Like there are so many of these events , that we are bound to see one . (As in the example of other long distant gamma ray bursts? ) Hope that is a bit clearer? Mike
-
Yes, but this event was detected by the " logo or algo " which are 100's of meters of building . Was this just aligning , due to the orbit and rotation of the earth , to point at the supernova event ? Or was it a coincidence of timing , like the event happened a few days ago , ( + or - a few hundred years ) allowing for the eons of time for the signal effect to reach here ? Mike
-
Thanks ! What about the coincidence of timing, happening , and us looking ? Or drawn out in time ? A sudden event right 'now ' ( whenever now is ) , or it's going on over a long time , and we have just seen it ? Mike
-
. Are we seeing this event because we are in line with jets ? Or Is it radiating energy in all directions ? And is it ? , that the event just happens to coincide with when we are looking ? Or has the event been going on for some time , and we have looked somewhere down the history of its activities? ( all- be- it , that it has taken quite some time to reach us ? ) Mike Edit ( I have done it again, overlap,. Must be something to do with, when we all wake up ? Or telepathic waves ! )

Is this tensor bit saying that : The interchanges going on at the sub atomic and atomic , level ( particle to particle ) are " electro magnetic " in nature , and thus are bound by the speed of light ' c' , because that is the speed of electro- magnetic devices, interactions , such as electrons and protons ? But that would infer there was matter present ? Mike
-
This sounds a bit like hitting a galvanised scaffolding rod at one end with a metal bar . Then the vibrations caused by the inbuilt tension of the steel , transfer their energy , atom to atom , through the bar as a sound wave . This then arrives at the other end as a sound vibration , if you put your ear to it .? But the maths sounded a bit steep ! Mike Oops ! I've done it again , and doubled up on your posting , sorry ! Included in this sequence of videos is :- The university of Chicago video . It is a very interesting short video to watch , as they processed the data to come up with the identification . The direct link to this video is given below , Link :- https://www.uchicago.edu/features/scientists_find_ripples_in_fabric_of_spacetime/ If these waves are NOT electromagnetic waves , do they propagate at a different speed ? Or is propagation in space a constant , namely same for EM ( electro magnetic ) , same for gravitational waves ? As I thought the propagation speed came out of Maxwells equations which were/ are electro magnetic ? Mike

Is there any way of telling , at this stage, if we are talking about :- Two miniature black holes colliding? Two supernova remnants colliding from stars? Two centres of Galaxies , namely two galaxies colliding ? Or some left over of the Big Bang ? Or something else ? Mike

Are there immediate implications as to our understanding of the Cosmos ,? Black holes ? Supernova?, Big Bang ? To be Born out from this positive detection of Gravitational waves ? Mike Oops ! May have overlapped slightly !

The great Seas and Rivers of the Supercontinents.
Mike Smith Cosmos replied to Mike Smith Cosmos's topic in Earth Science
. A recent television documentary showed Arabia ( with all its deserts ) once existing at the bottom of the Ancient Tethys Ocean. And as such , how the plant and sea life dying would sink to the bottom of the 'Tethys Ocean' and become the great oil reserves of present day Arabia. Link to Tethys Ocean :- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleo-Tethys_Ocean In a similar way, but to a lesser degree , was not Wales and Southern England subject to great sand deposits as part of 'Giant River' , erosion wash off, during the time periods discussed above , Devonian , Permian etc while the supercontinents did their movements about the Globe of Earth? At that time , coming up from the southern tropics and crossing the 'Then '. Equatorial position ? (See red dot , at that time ) Snap shot of Devonian Time 400,000,000 Years ago Tethys Ocean Mike -
. . An illustration of an actual electrical / electronic , signal and power amplifier as used by a Rock and Roll band. Complete with a feedback system . If by discussing it in simple terms , it will be seen where some of the feedback system resides. Imagine a famous Rock and Roll band , in a live performance , in a public auditorium . Say back in the early 1970's , 1980's 1990's Thousands of screaming teenagers and ageing rockers in the audience. The music is really loud, I mean deafeningly loud. Young girls are fainting , the audience are waving there hands side to side .some people are sitting on the shoulders of others , swinging a toy from side to side . The man on the mixer panel is doing his best to balance serious entertainment with safety ( so that people are not permanently deafened. ) It's now 30 or 40 years later, the people in the audience are like me , in their 70's . The band has probably dissolved by now . The amplifiers are thrown away by now and out of reach. However it just so happens the sound mixing man kept the top of his mixer panel , as a memento of his experience with the band , and it happens to have an EPROM memory chip that recorded peaks and troughs of the sound system for each performance . ( and Thus characteristics and information about the main amplifier itself , even though now lost or out of reach ) O.k so the main amplifier has gone , but a record of how the main amplifier responded in feedback terms is still in evidence on this Memory chip . Could this not show as an example of what happened at another place, another time ( now inaccessible ) . That information about the Main amplifier device can be obtained from part of the separate feedback system . Yes some of the fixed simple internal feedback component controls lay in the core amplifier , but the system operation can be found in a historical record ,in the external control unit feedback device ( still available for examination ) Does this not have good pointers for Geological, cosmological, climatological , quantum behaviour etc research . In other words not looking for the main function, but rather for the separate feedback device . What I have described above is similar to lately looking at DNA chains for evidence rather than the skeleton or fossil . So what I am asking ,is , would it not make a useful endeavour , to look for features of the main device under consideration , not necessarily by looking at the main device ( because this may not be possible due to size, age ,time , or unavailability ) . But by looking at the separate feedback system , which may be more available , smaller ,bigger, more compact , current in time etc etc ? Mike

.. Very eloquently put argument. My reason for picking on Long Wave as a vehicle for transfer of energy from space platforms was that . ' Long waves are less dangerous than microwaves ( which have been identified with cooking ) , whereas long waves have been used quite extensively in the past for transmission systems with no adverse effects also transmitting through water , ( as far as I know ) ' yet they can be sufficiently spread as to provide a generalised distribution of energy for mobile uses , such as personal transport , electronic-device uses, etc . Light on the other hand ( with solar panels ) is interrupted by cloud , as you know . And some energy storage devices can be quite heavy . I have recently bought some equipment to do some simple experiments , to demonstrate the harmless nature of beaming longer waves through or around the human body ( namely me ) , by longer waves , namely ( 40 meter waves ) , concentrated in a beam 1 square metre approximately in dimension . I appreciate this is very much in an initial feasibility stage , but this is often where ideas are initially established or kicked out as not practicable . Ps as regards your question " Do you accept that, rather than the danger of running our energy resources dry the need to leave the greater part of fossil fuel resources in the ground is the most immediate" Yes I am o.k. With your comment there . I am more interested in exploring alternative methods of 1. mobile , power , source , and 2. non interrupted energy from the sun . Mike

I had not heard of this ' Rainbow Bridge ' until you mentioned it a few days ago . Since then , it sounds so beautiful , I have asked a few people , had they heard of it ? I was rather surprised how many people had . Filled with the thoughts of this lovely reunion with your pets , yesterday I was wandering through the main Park in Exeter , saw a group of University students , ( male and female) enjoying the sun and chatting . Asked them if they had heard of Rainbow Bridge . One said " I have not been long in Exeter , so do not know the area very well. " I replied with " No. It's not like that . Rainbow bridge is when you die you meet your pets wagging their tails , greeting you. ........" . I am sure by their response they had a good conversation after I left . They seemed delighted. Here's to Rainbow Bridge ! Mike

Yes , I sort of see what you are saying, but any energy that I was intending redirecting in long waves form ,to one of the supply hubs , was absorbed up there in orbit for the conversion process . So there should be no net gain in energy forward. I am still gathering the equipment together for a test , so am unable to give any more progress update at the moment . Thank you for giving the subject your consideration at this time . I will try and supply the result of the test soon , although a radio amateur friend of mine showed me the Tesla Experiment last week . Bit freaky ! Mike

What Possibly could be an area of study : , ( if the idea of feedback being a major player in universe creation ) If we take this fictitious MODEL example in the framework of an electronic MODEL control system . Processing Major power/energy amplification . Of red INPUT .( including minor fragments of green , yellow and blue , now obliterated in the Big Bang (the red , which in reality could be Big Bang energy at a very early time ( un obtainable as too distant past . Less than 1 sec to minus 43) . The process under some form of positive feedback produces the universe we now see. Perhaps the system of feedback , or the remnants of the feedback system remains , ( not obliterated as very peripheral to the main explosion , fragmented , somewhere , in our existing universe . The Main Processor does not survive , as it is the very hot expansion system itself . A proportion of the output signal is fed back through a feedback system , to the input allowing major amplification of Red , universe at large , and ingredients for universe construction from the smallest particles fields upwards and otherwise . This side return system survives in bits in the universe to be discovered . The pre 1 sec to the minus 43 , remains un obtainable , BUT fragments of the feedback systems , remain yet to be discovered ? Just maybe ? ( fragments of yellow ,blue , green , ) Below :- Schematic of model of universe expansion from / Big Bang Below :- Schematic of expansion of the universe including main expansion including feedback system ( Red , including feedback loop components (yellow ,blue, green ) ) up to 300,000 years from start . Time of recombination . Later fragments of feedback loop only ( yellow blue green )
