.I have since pondered that of course ALL the supportive (non conscious ) part of us . Our systems for scratching a supply of minerals as well as the complex proteins and carbohydrates which allow and sustain our EXISTENCE . Then again we can go one layer lower , and think of the massive and complex Geological strata sitting on top of the continental and ocean crusts . These of course allow the mechanism's. for furnishing us with minerals etc. And so on and so on with all the previous asteroid and comet agglomeration which we know gave the Earth it's start in life. Not excluding Bangs, plasma, recombination of atoms etc. EXISTENCE, has quite a preparatory mechanism, even before I am conscious enough to think this thought . Phew ! Mike

This could be giving us ( personally ) a new take, an how we see and view clouds . However , this is NOT how the clouds ' are ' or indeed how the clouds ' - Actually - Move ' . It is our , or the way things happen , perception of PERSPECTIVE We easily recognise this with things like houses , fields , people etc , but because clouds are very random anyway , we perhaps do not notice this " Perspective in the Sky " . ---------------------- ------------ The clouds are arranged in perspective from our unique viewing point, ' upwards ' . Though not in reality. I would propose! Whether this has been stated before , I am not sure . ---------------------- ------------ I discussed this with a fellow artist yesterday over a coffee and he 'hit the roof ' . " absolute poppycock , pure serendipity " , caused quite a poetic disturbance in the local city , as cafe dwellers, heard our argument , and there was a lot of demonstrative, getting up , pointing , looking up in the sky , sitting down , coffee cups flying , and walking off in disgust. It was a wonder with all the getting up and gesturing in the sky , neither of us or both of us , did not end up in the adjacent canal a few feet away , which was the venue of the cafe ! Well surely! I wonder ( as we don't live in anyone else's mind, ) whether there is different depths of awareness of existence and life. Does someone that is always on the 'go' , have a greater depth of existence, or a good person , or a person who does a lot of research ? Or is existence a bit like a meal , fairly similar for everyone. Is there a possibility to imagine an increase in the ' existence ' feeling. ( heightened awareness ) or Like getting physically fitter. Or an expansion somehow of our current level of existence ? Mike

Yes I was probably slightly remiss in using the word 'quantum ' I was perhaps drawn by the idea that I was effectively feeling forces involving electrons and other atomic particles , which themselves ' can ' take part in quantum behaviour. Though , as you say the feeling of these forces is strictly classical mechanical. Takes a little of the ' magical feel ' I had as I gently , ever so gently pressed the copper wire against this very gentle force , that I could think of in terms of electrons repelling my pressure given by my finger. It was a wonderful pressure ( almost surf board on a sea ' feeling . ) Oh well , back to the mundane . Where is the nearest quantum behaviour to my ' electron sea '? Perhaps I could just give a little more of a jolt and my electron , under the added pressure , may just ' quantum tunnel ' to a new state. ( that it has been eyeing up for some time) , ' perhaps a gorgeous looking lone proton , sunning herself on the electron sea shore ? Mike

Looking down at the sub atomic / atomic level , I can imagine the " Metallic Bond " existing in the sea of electrons existing in the delocalised state between individual copper atoms . Quote BBC Byte sized Illustrated thus :- So when I make a coil by permanent shaping of the copper wire thus :- And then by gently poking with my finger , I can feel and imagining I am " bouncing on an electron sea existing down at that atomic/ sub atomic level . I have had a good think and a good chat about this with the powers that be. It would appear there is a great deal of interest with the system as a whole that operates on earth. More so than individual circumstances. Although these are felt very personally . The system as a whole , worldwide is of greater significance. Of course an individuals circumstances is all they have , and thus very significant to them personally. However solving their individual problem , will not solve the world's functioning systems. However considering the world as a whole system , and dealing with problems of the whole world .. Will. ( it is hoped ) Mike

I think it would be fair to say , that ' life' must be the pinnacle of existence. This of course brings in the 'degree of life ' from bacteria to human conscious life. ( and if so speculative to question , possible higher life forms ) . We have only our own human conscious quality of life , by which to compare things . I have heard it put that this is a ' self awareness' . So in human terms ' to exist ' must incorporate ' being self aware ' ? Mike Ps . Not sure where happiness fits in ? . Well you are right of course. I was probably thinking , my little red fish , do not have life anymore. They were so enjoying , coming to the surface ,in the sun , taking a gulp , and wriggling into the depths again. Life , existence , perhaps taken for granted , but without it , sends a shudder down my spine , when I muse for a moment . I am working on a list at the moment " ten things you need to do now in my retirement , that I have wanted to do while going through my life , that could not do at the time . ( houses , jobs, marriages , children , ) ...... ' do it when you retire ' Eg like ' following a big world river from source to sea ' , ' swim all the beaches of Devon & Cornwall and paint a picture at each one. , ' and a few more ethereal , less energetic pursuits . I have been staring into my garden pool , looking for some little red fish I introduced the other day . A frog keeps surfacing and looking me in the eye . I have my suspicions . ?I will re-clamp it . The copper wire , carefully, tightly in the very heavy vice. I will repeat , start , stop , either, or neither, nor . Also with finger hold in middle . (A) Note finger held both end vibrate and stop instantly on one side effects other instantly . (B) Note vice held one side only ( mainly ) vibrates. There is a very slight leak . ---------- ------- Ps My take on these two experiments is (A) where the finger holds. The copper wire acts as if the fingers were not there. It vibrates as a single HALF WAVE conjoined vibration , consisting of two QUARTER WAVE sections moving in anti phase. The vibration is about itself . (B) where the vice grips so tightly . The vice acts as a base for each arm separately . One ( when struck) will vibrate as a quarter wave only . The grip is so tight as to restrict any major link between both halves. { however there is a slight bleed noticed linking either side . Very small, but there . } The vibration is NOT self supporting , it requires the vice as a heavy base to vibrate from . ( unlike the a) experiment which was self supporting . How does the energy involved with the standing wave move through ( across) , the central clamp or my fingers . As the sustained standing wave continues to oscillate? And similarly , how does the standing wave collapse, on the opposite side of the node , when it is stopped on the other side , by a forced or premature stop? Does the pressure wave in or of the copper wire change from a lateral wave to a longitudinal wave as it crosses the node ? Mike

Yes , but certainly did not build up , full amplitude both sides ' apparently ' same time ( but as you say no doubt speed of sound ( which presumable speed of vibration in the lattice ? interesting the amplitude of the other side was decidedly smaller but still there . I guess the residue came in through the atomic lattice

I have this morning made an observation and a possible deduction , where we can ' see' with our eyes , what is going on at a sub atomic level . It starts with the ' springiness ' while bending and allowing to move freely COPPER WIRE . Here are the two pieces of copper wire in question :- Firstly : The right hand coil of copper wire . I have taken a short length of 1 - 1.5 mm copper wire , bent it fairly easily into a 2-3 turn coil approx 2.5 cm in diameter. The shaping and bending process required modest effort to form the shape. I would think ? That the semi permanent deformation at this stage breaks the electrostatic bonds , which immediately reform , but in a different configuration of atomic structure? Having formed the new shape, the coil does NOT spring back into its original straight piece of wire. However! From 'here on in ' things change, dramatically. The coil can be compressed fairly easily with two fingers . ' here is the nub ' , it returns to its original constructed coil shape , without any further deformation. Surely we or I am observing something going on down at the sub atomic quantum level . Even though I am up here at the Macro Classical Level . Note the deformation , does not occur and the shape is repeated, time after time after time , ad nausium . Secondly : And even more exciting , when I do the same with the open ended parabolic ' comet ' style ' shape . bingo ! Eureka ! And it gets better ! Notice the open ends of the comet shape are vibrating whereas the part where my fingers clasp the copper wire are perfectly ' still ' ( no vibration there ) . In other words are we witnessing with our eyes , what is actually going on at a sub atomic bonding level of atomic operation . Namely the electrostatic attraction and repulsion going on between atoms ? Mike Ps . And even more exciting . When I stop the vibration , by contact on the lower vibrating ' tong ' . The upper vibrating ' tong' . Stops instantly , instantaneously ! Wow ! ( or thereabouts )

To the horror of many artists ' I imagine ' . There is science behind many of the images, which appear beautiful and random . We paint these countryside images with flair and skill to invoke the composition we feel is our capture of a ' magic moment ' I have been observing clouds recently and notice something I had not realised before. The clouds are emanating from a 'vanishing point ' in perspective as much as the houses emanate from their vanishing point in the far distance. It is not as obvious as houses as there are large ' Gaps' which hide the similar emanation from a vanishing point as the houses. Note the following illustration. Initial observation of cloud formation ( could look random ) :- Now re-observe with vanishing point assumed far distance 200 ft up . Note the perspective lines emanating left and right from our Observer position from vanishing point to 100- 200 ft over our heads .:- Now examine this new photo , taken looking out of a bus window , clouds look random yet, your observed vanishing point is at the part of the lamp post , behind the bush , approximately . Note the two ' apparent ' directions of movement of the clouds . This is a perspective illusion ! It's obvious , if you think about it! The clouds at the horizon ( vanishing point ) BUT Appear, almost touching ( yet say 100 feet apart) . Near to you , nearly above your head, where the clouds are seen as actual nearby (100 feet apart ) without much change in size ( due to perspective ) . . Now see the perspective , giving the appearance the clouds are moving in different directions . Mike

I have been out looking at our local Permian cliff . It's something to do with the giant rivers ( river bed settlement perhaps ) of the supercontinent . The rounded pebbles we find at the pebble beds of Budleigh Salterton ( 200 million years ago ) are different types of pebbles there , very rounded. These at Lympstone just further west ( few miles) I noticed are ' sharp edged' thus although they appear to be laid down ( as seen on the line of stones the dog is standing on ) . They are all sharp edged. Does this mean , laid down in a flash flood? Also they, alternate with layers with no stones , just sand . Does that mean a dry period with desert style sand blowing ? Or under the sea ( too and fro ) ? Mike

Of course . I appreciate photons are electro magnetic fields as far as I understand it. Of quantified amounts defined by Planks constant and wavelength. The nearest I can get to a visualisation of a photon is a bubblised E-M entity whose size , I am at a loss to understand ? Yes I appreciate your formulas , I will use them when I make my experimental 40 meter then 1230 meter transmitting coil and antenna and identicle receiving coil and antenna . I would hope to make the transmitting antenna unidirectional with a slight divergence , the receiving antenna unidirectional . Eg it PRO RATA ( only looses, reduces, from the initial 2 kilowatts / sq meter from the absorbed sunlight to 100 watts / sq meter for the earth location receiver . ) In the model it will just be a watt or two transmitted, received pro rat 2000 : 100 . Also a control 1 watt to 1 watt in the non divergent identical antennas . I hope ! I am hoping it will near the young girl lobbing a ball of photons of defined size / quantity with an EQUAL ball of photons and defined size . Being received if everything is non divergent and like for like . Or in 2000:100 as in the following illustrative diagram :- Mike Ps had a quick look at " the mean free path" . Not sure if this is what Richard Feynman described for the summation of all probabilities of paths that light could take . Being all possible paths but most being out of phase , apart from the ones the lines take in normal reflective understanding ( ie angle of incidence = angle of reflection) however others are there cancelling out ? ( because of the phase of each path ) . Do you mean the girl has to use up energy throwing the ball all the other paths , all to cancel out , but the normal reflective path, or straight projection?

My line of reasoning ( which may be fallacious ) but a) I would like to reason it out . And b) I would like to try it out . If a young girl across the room has a ball in her hand . And we are lead to believe a photon of Radio Frequency is a ball and wave particle then :- If the girl aims the ball at me , and throws it across the room , and I catch it . I then have an exact ball that was thrown . If now I generate a photon of Rf , throw it across a small part of space , I aim it at an antenna some distance away , not too far , say 100 meters , and my antenna is designed to be a good launcher of r.f.. Then I have an exact replica of a photon that was sent across this bit of space. If I now repeat the experiment with 20, god-zillion photons ( plus a few for losses ) , and send the 20 god-zillion (plus a few for losses ) into my well designed antenna , something very near to 20 god-zillion Photon looking rf photons will appear in my receiving antenna . ( incidentally i am assuming for the sake of this mental experiment 20 god-zillion photons ( plus a few for losses ) will furnish me 100 watts per square meter. ) at my catching end . If now I relocate my sending antenna to a satellite in space . Pick up at least 2 kW per sq meter or sunlight up in outer space , and convert in such a way as to furnish me with sufficient numbers of long wave photons as to cover losses into an aiming antenna with a certain amount of spread so as to cover a nominated part of the earths surface , (though not a spherical transmission ) more like a 20 times spread . Will I not receive 100 watts of long wave per square meter? ( or something of that order of magnitude . ) on earth . Under the domain of this particular antenna in space . ( say 2km square antenna array ) Mike

So everybody is telling me ! " transmitting a signal is significantly different than transmitting power." Signal you can accept spreading out , then everybody can hear you! Power , if you are counting on it , or it is in short supply , needs to be directed , somehow , so that it does not get diluted. Unless of course you are the Sun , then you have so much power you can afford to spread it all over the place ! If you are scratching around for mortals of energy , you NEED to know ' where it is ' ? I just wish I could find out , how big a photon is at set frequencies ? Is a photon of light "So big " and a photon of long waves " Hugh"? If I knew that , I could think about , ' where the photon is ? " and how can I capture it. Or them " . I am working with ' ghosts ' at the moment. I do hope it's not going to turn into. Eeks ! I am going to have to ' shut up ' or I will end up in 'concrete Wellington boots ' This energy storage seems like Big Business. I still wonder if directly producing usable energy directly from the Sun and distributed directly as a power source would not be a bad idea! I think its a matter of " Focus " or " Non Divergence " of energy . I need to do a little test , and a little thinking . I did this at University fairly recently 2000 ish , I experimented with these hi-fi separate earphones . They have a little transmitter in a hub, and you wander about and listen to your music in your earphones. O.k. In the room but fade out soon. I put a copper dish behind the hub and found I could go for 100 meters down the university corridor and still hear the music . Just like car head lights . It's the balance between the point source and the focused signal beam ! You could have some form of switched beam . Power sharing across the coverage area . So when you had the power , on your bit , it would be good power , when you did not have your bit you got nothing . There is the conversion from light at 100's of nano metres down to long wave at a thousand metres say. That is a power sharing of 1: 1,000,000 per photon of sunlight . Is that enough to be useful electrical energy directly ? Again what surface area are we talking about for 1,000,000 sunlight photons wide ( or as a spot) . And how big a spot is a single photon of long wave energy ? It's like giving the kiddies swing a nudge , once per large swing , with a little short nudge per cycle . The kid gets to have a ' long' swing in exchange for a very 'short' nudge ( 1 in a 1,000,000 ) every swing cycle . ( we carry on reading our book while the kid continues to swing without our input ,required) One photon of sunlight for one photon of long wave , all the other photons 999,999 photons of sunlight are free to do whatever they do. ( make trees and plants grow and keep us warm ) ( or read a book ) . We have got our continuous photon of long-wave ? It's a fair deal ? Everybody is happy! Mike

.I am thinking of many ginormous shower heads , out in space , some thousands of meters across, showering down long wave photons in a near strait ( slightly diverging ) shower of photons , covering a surface area of earth . Say in vast circular coverage areas on earth . I think these polar diagrams I have got hold of here , are in fact Yagi antenna polar diagrams . The disc satellite would take 10 % of incoming sunlight and do some form of conversion to long-waves, so as to send this down , spread out like a shower head of water as 100 watt per square meter long wave energy , distributed in these polar zones , which hopefully would constitute fairly complete coverage . You would not notice it if you looked up , only that 10% of sunlight was missing . Does not have to be 10 % could be 5% , but as Swansont keeps telling me 100 watts per square meter is not a lot . I appreciate your formulae and comments . It's a bit further ahead yet as I need to demonstrate the transmission of energy as opposed to message signal . These are obviously related . But in the reception of message , ones goal is a clear signal. The energy issue is to maximise energy . A first look at the formula you gave , looks like a sphere of radiation , thus the energy density will fall off into the inverse square law ' issue ' where the signal gets diluted as the sphere of photons density , gets shared on a greater and greater surface area. I was hoping to thwart this by some form of directional polar diagram type transmission. But obviously that means the coverage goes down ( can't have cake and eat it ) . I was hoping that I could deal with that by only looking for 10 % of available light conversion. The fact that it is long wave means it will spread out more anyway , does it not? I am back to this thing ? What exactly does a photon of long wave radio wave actually ' look like ' where is it ? , what is its dimensions? If I am standing here ! And a particular , single photon of long wave comes by , although it's invisible , where roughly is it spread out to? Does it exist spread over 1250 meters in diameter or twice that Or where . And if I stick out my antenna to absorb that one photon , and suck its energy in , I presumably have removed it from some space of existence , and it does not carry on into the distance ? Is that right ? Is there some form of antenna that will shoot the photons out like a potato gun , but only in selective directions ( like a shower head say ! ) Mike

Just got a few components together . Threw most away 4 months ago when we moved house. Kept a few choice components . The initial introductory test will be done on 40 meters . Chanel used for continuous wave cw morse code . My test will be on a legitimate allocated frequency . Later when I have proven principle will test on long wave . Yes well I understand what you are saying . Is my proposed project of sufficient rigour, to satisfy your requirements? In other words , if I produce a working model with reasonably predictable results , even if not 100% achievement , acceptable as a rigorous scientific experiment ? Mike
